I think the DMP-A10 holds good value if its comparable to Aurender and HiFi Rose products. And I don't see any issue with Eversolo coming out with higher-end products as long as they continue to offer their lower and midrange streamers without increasing the price. And who knows, higher end products could always offer trickle down technology that Eversolo may eventually be able to use in their less expensive streamers. One thing that surprised me was that Eversolo did not include an i2s digital output when the DMP-A8 had one? The TCXO clocks and fibre network connection were nice though. Was also wondering what connection you were using between your Aurender N20 and the Pontus 15th? Was it the same connection used for the DMP-10? If not, perhaps that might explain some of the audible differences you noticed when using both units for streaming only? Lastly, I would like to see Eversolo release a streamer without a DAC, but with an i2s connection and a better (linear) power supply, and try and keep the price at the DMP-A6 level. It might be blasphemous to say this, but I'd even sacrifice the screen to cut down costs but offer better audio quality for streaming.
I love my Eversolo DMP-A6 + upgraded LPS by Beatechnik as an Apple Music streamer and ripping my CDs to it. But I use an external r2r dac Denafrips Pontus II 12th-1 and ddc Denafrips Iris 12th. I have a mixed use music 2.2 and movies 7.4.4 setup so I use a preamp with home theater bypass Parasound 2100... I wish that the Eversolo had a home theater bypass as that would get me to my upgrade. source=Apple Music lossless
Hopefully Eversolo's next product will be a preamp with home theater bypass, L/R balance, tone controls, and 2 sets of outputs (2 for 2-way speakers, 2 for 2 subwoofers), with the builtin Apple Music app. That would get me to upgrade my Parasound 2100 preamp.
Another great review, thanx bro. Here is my Q. I have the Gustard A26 and Hifirose 250 as my streamer… would you give them up for the DMP-10? And I kinda hate the software on the Hifirose so was thinking of getting the Wiim Ultra as a streamer and with the extra money maybe get the Pontus 15th. Would lobe to hear your thoughts on this. Thanx for all your recommendations and reviews
Great review! Seems like a very nice unit! A thing that potentially makes it a not so great value is also an Eversolo strength ... The A6 and A8 are already so packed with features that the difference in price, for what seems to be a small gain in audio quality makes it seem less value oriented. But that is often the case with flagships, much money to squeeze out the last ounces..
Its relying on the principle of someone who always wants the best. The greengrocer has identical Bananas and splits them into 2 rows. One row is substantially more expensive, and they always sell. Its the oldest story in retail. There is enormous value to some in buying the expensive item.............it defines them.
Thanks Jay, I'm glad you got to compare it to a very high end Aurender N20, which retails for nearly 3.5x the DMP-A10's RRP. It's interesting that whilst you prefered the N20s overall presentation and user experience the law of dminishing returns definitely is in play here. You'd need to be one very serious audioplhile to spend 3.5x as much for minor improvements. At this stage it's almost like choosing between brands of bottled water, and just like having a fine palate able to discern the mineral content of each water, you'd need a highly resolving system and very good ears to discern the differnces in SQ from these devices. That said, for me I do not see a requirement to exceed the DMP-A8. I think it's at the top end of most 'wannabe' audiophiles budget and is good enough to be all you could ever want or need in most mid'fi systems up to £15,000-£20,000. The only other thing I would have liked, and this is a minor quibble, is a little bit more comparison on the DAC in the A10 compared to standalone DACs, such as your Denafrips/Gustard's offerings etc. If for instance you have an A6-ME and used an external DAC such as a Gustard R26 would swapping out for the A10 be a wise choice? I think there are probably many in this position wondering if they should scratch that itch.
In the Denafrips Pontus 15th review and also here, he makes clear that is a noticeable step up in terms of Dac quality. In other reviews that Denafrips is also a noticeable improvement in the R26. To my ears the 15th clearly beats even the Holo May KTE.
Yes, same here. Glad that he brought up flagship Aurender N20 and the comparisons as digital source ! Unfair comparisons yes, but thats the streamer to aim for , to replace cds and sacds. Aiming to replace cd with such an Aurender streamer as end game, a step closer to cd quality.
They also just released AMP-F10, their second amp. I wonder if that will be any good as from what I saw people didn't really like AMP-F2 and called it average at best
I’m happy to see a brand pushing upscale and offering innovative products. More competition is better. I have the A8 and it’s a solid performer and a nice digital hub for my system. I don’t think I’ll be upgrading to the A10 an unless I’m looking to use it as the main preamp for my system. I saw that EverSolo has an amp coming out to pair with the A10, that might make for a compelling stack.
Very good and helpful review! I wish they made a streamer/DDC/DSP without any analog circuitry. The same goes BTW with Wiim. HiFi Rose did the right thing with RS130 (and Lumin with U2 and U2 mini), but that software can't really compete.
@@Pete.across.the.street Too bad the Rose software fails to match the level of the classy 130B - going with the A10 in combo with the (neutral) NAD M23 power amp and a pair of (slightly warm) Dynaudio Contour 30i’s - like the fact that it has 2 dedicated sub outs. Could also pair it with the NAD M66 but again I am not a friend of the Bluesound app… Can then still add the Denafrips Pontus 15th for further “tuning” if required.
Using my 8 now as streamer transport only along with its awesome PEQ & EQ and acceptable Tidal UI. I found i can get a nicer sound from my Accuphase DAC board than the Eversolo akm DAC. Not much point upgrading to the 10 at twice the price of the 8. Only had the 8 for a few months so I’m not about to retire it so soon. Besides the 10 is too much money for what it is, it’s about $6,000 here.
@@Jayiyagi I watched the whole video before posing the question and iBT TX is not mentioned. Anyways I ordered one from HiFiGo since it has other great features
His referemce streamer Aurender and pontus 2 15th should easily beat Eversolo in soundstage width and depth ! Glad he made the comparison to Aurender !!!
The more I look at this overloaded thing and its gadgety gimmicks like a thermometer-like volume knob, the more I am leaning towards a no-nonsense DAC/Amp combo and pair this with a Wiim Mini and just use the latter as a streamer.
Sure if you prefer less features and a more simplistic design. However I have used the Wiim mini as well as their other models and personally for me, I found the sound to be mediocre in comparison. Great App and user interface tho!

For example (many choices) Limetree Bridge 2 (with good power supply) + Topping PRE90 + Gustard x26 III = cheaper and you only buy what you need or you can upgrade from there (if needed).
To my ear, the problem with streaming is that no matter what recording you play, and no matter what streamer/DAC you play it on, everything just sounds like the service you’re using. That, combined with the fact that some of the most lauded streaming services sound like garbage, creates a real issue.
Thanks for the video Jay. Can I ask 2 questions (somewhat related)? 1. What are those vinyl record holders in your video? 2. I have the A6, great streamer, what do you recommend as a streamer for something like the Denafrips Enyo into a Willsenton R8 in 24?
the record holders are just off amazon. Here is the link: amzn.to/3CFz04V if it's great why are you asking for a streamer recommendation? Are you asking because you want a standalone streamer instead because you have a dac and integrated amplifier that you like or are you looking for something similar that is an upgrade? How much of the UI interface/features of the Eversolo is important to you? Sometimes I find that while sound may be better on some other streamers, the interface and constant buggy apps really kill the experience when trying to get into the music
Aside from the additional features on the DMP-A10 still accessible when using just as a streamer... For me, the DMP-A10 as a streamer only still had better focus of imagery, transparency and timing/speed
Great review. I was a little upset that the DMP-A10 came out after I bought the my Cyrus stream streamer and Cyrus pre XR combination but after your review I understood that the the DMP-A10 doesn’t quite have the sound signature that I am looking for warmth and punchy as the Cyrus is giving me though can't match the extordnery features that Evesolo providing.on the other hand the Cyrus have phono stage and headphone stage features that the Eversolo lack.
Hey Jay, great review. Aren't you chaining both dac and preamp stages by connecting your a10 outputs to your tube preamp inputs? I've been told this degrades the sound, despite you are still adding the tube characteristics which you like.
Jay, I feel like something was lost in translation between you and Alan. You guys should make up. I dont think he did anything wrong or disrespectful to you. And this is coming from a fan of yours.
This is a weird situation... You say that you don't think he did anything wrong or disrespectful to me. I beg to differ. *The man was banned over 1 year ago.* The man decided to bombard on a comment where I was thanking Gene for my first collaboration with Audioholics over something that happened over *1 year ago.* He then decides to take things out of context and makes two videos attempting to discredit me while calling me a liar with a thumbnail of him punching my face because he did not like my response. Then he asks me to collaborate on his channel for a "friendly discussion"... I almost spat out my food. There is nothing to make up. I really want nothing to do with him or his drama. He and I were never acquainted. I only learnt of him because he went and started complaining on his community post after getting banned from my comment section. This seem to be a pattern with him... he seem to get a kick out of playing the victim after putting others down portraying the whole "I am the good one and others are bad" picture to his viewers. if anything is evidence of his intentions - consider this fact and ask yourself "who keeps screenshots of every interaction on a youtube comment section?" Unless you have a specific goal to sabotage those creators you engages with? I said I welcome open debate and discussion. This doesn't mean I want to engage in useless drama. There is a big distinction between having a respectful debate and discussion on a meaningful topic VS useless drama that aims to lure out a reaction from the other person for their own gains. Look, lets just say for a minute that he is right and his ban was unjustified... I've been banned before from other youtube channel's comment section. Every time I thought it wasn't justified but I just went "oh well" and moved on. It really makes me wonder how a full grown ass man reacts like this to being banned from a comment section that he rarely engages in.
Thank you very much for this one. As an owner of the A8 with a very restrictive usage in terms of sound quality (music stored on local SSD, no preamp/eq/etc., just USB-out, USB-isolator, USB-in at amp), i'm very interested in your opinion A8 vs. A10. A10 does offer advanced technology here, but does it yield significantly better/different results? Really interested in your/others perception for this use case - no judgement at all. Personally, the price tag is very high for my kind of usage, so, most probably, i will not upgrade. BTW. i'm using the A8 for music services like Spotiy (discovering/testing new music), Internet radio, it's DAC XLR out to a headphone amp - but that is NOT essential to me in terms of enjoying high quality sound.
Are you saying one can bypass the internal DAC? Not sure if I understood correctly, but can one use the A10 as a streamer, go USB out to an external DAC, and then back to the A10 via analogue RCA /XLR too use its preamp section?
What distinction are you making between Soundstage vs Imaging? If imaging is reproduction of instrument placement, what is the definition of soundstage?
Nevermind - This is what my handy AI Copilot told me: when an audiophile is making a distinction between imaging and soundstage, what is the difference? Great question! In the world of audiophiles, imaging and soundstage are two distinct but related concepts that describe how sound is perceived. Imaging refers to the ability of an audio system to accurately place individual sounds or instruments within the sound field. It's about pinpointing where each sound is coming from, creating a sense of location and separation. For example, with good imaging, you can close your eyes and "see" where the guitarist, drummer, and vocalist are positioned on a virtual stage2. Soundstage, on the other hand, describes the perceived size and space of the audio environment. It encompasses the width, depth, and height of the sound field, giving you a sense of the overall space in which the music is being performed. A good soundstage makes you feel like you're in the same room as the performers, with a sense of immersion and atmosphere2. To put it simply, imaging is about the precise placement of sounds, while soundstage is about the overall spatial environment. Both are crucial for creating a realistic and enjoyable listening experience.
If i wanted a great streamer/transport, because I want to use my Denafrips Terminator II DAC, is it really necessary to buy the A10? Will the A8 do the job equally well? Can you guys comment on this.
A8 in my opinon gives me more for you money and the A10 hits a point of diminishing return, especially if you are using it as just a standalone streamer. In my mind, the Eversolo units a digital music hub, that allows great flexibility in integrating many different components as well as individual use cases. If a streamer is all you need and you don't care for the dsp functions (which are great to have btw), then I'd consider looking at standalone streamers as well.
@@Jayiyagi Thanks. Can you comment on the A8 vs A10 as a streamer DAC (the streamer in both is most likely the same design and parts??) and draw a comparison with another streamer/DAC that would be a competing product in the relevant price range. Your Aurender is just a streamer, and it is uber-expensive. I fail to understand, why someone would pay so much for a streamer....as you yourself say in your review and comment above.
Time stamp 9:54 QC missed the squeued placement of the resisitor below the ESS semiconductor, it stands out and looks really off line given the quality of placement elsewhere. Probably fine but attention to detail inside is all important as an ex Sony engineer. I hope they do offer a strippod out version of this, as I cannot ever see me parting with the EAR Yoshino 912 Tube pre. So I dont really want to pay for an albeit ok A10 pre, when I have a spectacular one. I would be prepared to buy a Streamer/DAC only version, as I know this company executes very good versions of the current and best DAC chips and I could happily live with it until something genuinely groundbreaking happens in the DAC world, as once you get to a certian level the differences dont really warrant the added expense. What I don't understand is why an I2S is not provided on this their flagship product! This cuts of genuine opportunities for reasonable upgrade routes with peripheral sources. Maybe they are holding off for a master edition of the A10 but its very obvious it should be there now. Maybe for me the better option will be an A8 upgrading to a better DAC later in its life.
as I've said, the sound signature is similar. Meaning similar bass, mids and highs. The difference seems to be in the focus of imagery, transparency and timing/speed
Hopefully Eversolo's next product will be a preamp with home theater bypass, L/R balance, tone controls, and 2 sets of outputs (2 for 2-way speakers, 2 for 2 subwoofers), with the builtin Apple Music app. That would get me to upgrade my Parasound 2100 preamp.
. PreAmps are incapable of a home theater bypass function. A home theater bypass bypasses the preamp & into the power amp on integrated amplifiers so equipped. A 2nd option for preamp balance is choosing a power amp with channel 1 & channel 2 variable input gain. Tone control is simple with the Schiit 4-band Loki or 6-band Lokius between the pre & power. Sub-woofer output is very common on all preamps because "PreOut" outputs are essentially, and perhaps more importantly due to their full range, ARE sub-woofer outs. Choose components carefully & really get to know the signal chain or you may be chasing the next EverSolo every 6 months while tossing the last greatest product ever made for audio in the trash. Acid Jazz, Funk & Brass🔈🔉🔊
If you already have a DAC you like, and want to use this as a streamer and Preamp, could you run digital out to your DAC and then run analog back to the DMPA10?
Thats what I wanted to know too, but they said you cant do it with the A8. So I assume the same here. What my next question would be, is then if you only use this as a digital out, can you control the volume digitally? Because Id just go from this or A8 to the DAC to the amp
Is there a video or website where Jay shares pictures of his room and acoustic treatment? The front wall looks like GIK diffusion. I'm confused how it's full retail price is 30K. Thanks! Is that a custom paint job on those AGD Audions? 🤔 This device sounds like a compromise. Like a budget intergrated amplifier. Not exciting at all. I do like the display though. I would love reviews of PS Audio DirectSteam MK2 DAC and Playback Designs MPD-8 & MPD-6.
The front wall is NOT GIK diffusion. This wall was installed way before they had their diffusion panels. These are custom made for me, for my room by a friend yes these are custom done for me by AGD. I believe they can also offer it as a special finish for those that want it, feel free to email them. I loved them so much that I wanted a special finish. Every audio unit is a compromise to some degree.
Eversolo should build a high quality transport only like the HifiRose 130...cause as preamp, doesn't sound good..and even as DAC not great...as a transport only the A8 sounds decent but not great...jmho.
Good morning (still) ☕️🍩 I’m just looking for a good streamer that’ll work with my Denafrips Ares 12-1 DAC ..just a high quality wifi streamer … The Eversolo have been great units since the 6’ …but i can do without those internal DAC and preamp functionality. I’ll wait and see what the new year brings. Have a great Sunday.
@@theyreMineralsMarie Wiim is great for the price. The Pro and Pro Plus both have DACS but they are lower end ones so probably don't add much to the cost. I have a DMP-A6 for my 2-channel setup, and a Wiim Pro Plus for my headphone setup. I actually like the Wiim software better than Eversolo's, but I just wish it had USB output. You could jump up to the Wiim Ultra for that but you will have to pay a bit more for the bells and whistles (like that tiny screen).
Did you judge the clocks by looks? Kinda hard to tell which clock is better unless you measure them. Not trying to get ASR because there are people that go overboard with it. I don't know how you can say one is better, especially since the Eversolo is "custom". If you looked up part numbers and compared them sure. I enjoy your content
I was not able to measure them so it's purely subjective and thus why I said "in my opinon" However it is not based solely on the looks, the advertised specs for clocks used in the DMP-A8 and that of the hifi rose rs130 ranges from 70 Femto seconds to 200 Femto Seconds. Which is excellent. However the advertised spec of the Eversolo's custom clock is below 50 FS, which is even better jitter performance in theory.
I think higher end needs to be simpler. Less is more. Higher end internals but less features. Scrap the ugly nest thermostat volume display. Scrap the lipstick on a pig (large display). Scrap the DAC and room correction. I want it to be the best streamer it can be for sq. Focus on being a master of one, not a master of none.
They misunderstood the high end , flashy light , lcd , ugly enclouser, of the shelves DAC . For your reference just look at the Naim reference DAC , with 40 bit DSP signal processing filter , minimalist outside but inside extremely designed.
i2s was reviewed as the highest quality digital output on the A8, and now it's not even included on the A10, oh, and sadly you did not see fit to mention it. I find that strange. Personally I think the novelty extras , eg screen on volume control, do not belong on high end units, use the money for even better sound. The comments from viewers implying cheap dacs are as good as any , are uneducated in the least . I have an A8 , which I like and a Linn Klimax DSM, which I love , the difference is huge and obvious , so please listen and then comment, rather than just guessing inaccurately , just to make, an invalid, point. . Mostly a useful review ,thankyou.
I don't understand screens on a streamer. I have a $400 iFi steamer and bought a cheap iPad (android tablet would also be fine) to remotely control my streamer, either using Tidal Connect app or the iFi streamer app. I could have also used a smartphone.
It's not true that you have more inputs than ever before. There is no one of most important digital out i2s (IIS). Shame... Flaghship without IIS? There is even no AES/EBU. That's far from maximum flexibility for connection to other devices. It is much better to buy Rose 150b for similar money.
Like most new companies regardless of what they are selling A few go above and beyond to establish a great name and a product that is attractive and packed with features and great bang for buck But Alas then the company makes great profits and that's when the Rot sets in The price all a sudden doubles useless features and gimmicks start to appear and then the company looses its status When will these companies ever learn 1 Value for money 2 well thought out product 3 price point It would be of great interest to know what the average joe blow spends in 2024 on the there entire hifi components system I bet 75% spend less than $10k in total
Thank you for the effort. I am having enough with this chi-fi. I buy only decent stuff locally. I dont want all these fancy looking any more. I want 3D, smooth rich sound. I owned the 6master and a8.
No i2s? Why don't you mention it. Bad implementation! All the high-end clocks and no i2s. Using the Pontus as a DAC is very sideways over usb. I'm sure they will come up with an A10 plus that will have i2s and that will make early adopters pissed. To me, using this in a higher end, 2 Channel system, you need to run it as a streamer/DAC and know there isn't a reasonable upgrade path, unless you buy a high quality DDC.
I'm not conviced.. Didn't feel Jay was either. One common thing in these reviews are that the pointers are always the same. The talk about features aka the selling points. It's like car salesman job basicly. Why would you even joke of having this in your system long term but to just sell it there by saying it. Influencers :p But seriously in this day and age it's important to be critical. One thing to point out when units get more expensive. We should therefore get better support and warranty. Many companies have way longer warranties thesedays than Eversolo. That doesn't assure us for insvesting.. Since today nothing is really investement as such in the tech world. End users basicly loose their money for bying anything these days. I have the A8. I can't see this being a meaningful upgrade. But for the "review" process part of the video I would like to have seen more comparisons. For example comparing to Innuos since it's closer to their prices range now. It's important to get a broad understanding of what is out there. Now you just made comparison to something that is 15k. I mean.. That's not that meaninful either. I have one request. Would you do the same as Ron in the New Record Day and be transparent about the review process for example if in this case Eversolo has offered the unit to you without you needing to return it. Transparency is so important these days. Much appreciated!
I don't understand your point. Do you wish for reviewers to NOT point out the features then? All my reviews are not sponsored unless otherwise clearly stated. Meaning no money or product exchanged hands.
Why did you add the isolation feet to those Korean mon acoustics speakers dont they already come with their own isolation balls 😂😅? Did you see an improvement after adding those normal isolation feet ?
I am still experimenting but I find it better with the isolation feet than with ball bearings. I have a video coming up on this as well in the near future
You can get the DAC for $200 from China just like where Ever solo is from. Marry that with your Tube Pre and you're done. I use the VMV D1SE on Tube 3 mode for that Tube effect.
You are referring to the DAC Chip that is being used. Yes, SMSL VMV D1SE is a pretty awesome unit but what matters in a dac and how it sounds is not only determined by the dac chip used. What matters more is the implementation of the dac chip as well as things like the PSU, clock and output stage
ah yes, as well as the fact that it doesn't have i^2s. Even with its rich features, I don't think there is one product that can fit everyone's preference and needs.
@@Jayiyagi Indeed that is the reason to separate the DAC/PEQ/Pre-Amp from the streamer. With a good DAC and USB connections the streamer could be simplified. Just my 2 cents
I actually totally like it I think the volume knob with display is unique and looks pretty cool. I can only imagine you can have it completely turned off as well so it just looks black.
We setup the A8 from Eversolo with $70k worth of gear and the Eversolo was crap! Totally thin and lifeless. Buy a Bluesound Node and a Chord Qutest and you’ll have a real HiFi sound.
I think the matching and synergy between the components are far more important than the money put into it. In my personal experience, I was able to get good sound with the DMP-A8 in a minimal system that costed about $5k and a pretty amazing sound just under $10k. Of course, to fine tune the sound to my liking, I messed around with it's Pro features and settings, mainly the PEQ and the Loudness setting.

17:23 Is Eversolo DMP-A10 Still Good Value?
@@mattsev9134yea I^2s was missing :(
For the aurender and the eversolo, all comparisons were made using usb
I love my Eversolo DMP-A6 + upgraded LPS by Beatechnik as an Apple Music streamer and ripping my CDs to it.
But I use an external r2r dac Denafrips Pontus II 12th-1 and ddc Denafrips Iris 12th.
I have a mixed use music 2.2 and movies 7.4.4 setup so I use a preamp with home theater bypass Parasound 2100... I wish that the Eversolo had a home theater bypass as that would get me to my upgrade.
source=Apple Music lossless
So glad u brought up your reference Streamer AURENDER for comparisons! N20 and N10 from Aurender are really masterpieces with very good clock!
I'm still happy w the A6. Pairing the A10 w a tube preamp is an excellent idea. Thnx.
@@connorduke4619 have u owned both May and new Pontus for comparisons ?
Thanks Jay, comprehensive review. I’ll be interested in your review of the Bluesound Icon when it’s released.
Great review Jay
They also just released AMP-F10, their second amp. I wonder if that will be any good as from what I saw people didn't really like AMP-F2 and called it average at best
I’m happy to see a brand pushing upscale and offering innovative products. More competition is better.
I have the A8 and it’s a solid performer and a nice digital hub for my system.
I don’t think I’ll be upgrading to the A10 an unless I’m looking to use it as the main preamp for my system.
I saw that EverSolo has an amp coming out to pair with the A10, that might make for a compelling stack.
Excellent review Jay thanks as always! ❤
Very good and helpful review! I wish they made a streamer/DDC/DSP without any analog circuitry. The same goes BTW with Wiim. HiFi Rose did the right thing with RS130 (and Lumin with U2 and U2 mini), but that software can't really compete.
You can unplug the power jumper going to the analog section and still use it. On the a8 at least.
@@Pete.across.the.street
Too bad the Rose software fails to match the level of the classy 130B - going with the A10 in combo with the (neutral) NAD M23 power amp and a pair of (slightly warm) Dynaudio Contour 30i’s - like the fact that it has 2 dedicated sub outs. Could also pair it with the NAD M66 but again I am not a friend of the Bluesound app…
Can then still add the Denafrips Pontus 15th for further “tuning” if required.

I'm not sure if I missed your comparison, but what did you think of the DAC vs the Pontus 15th?
Great video, thanks! Would you say Pontus the 15th has a better DAC than the one inside the A10?
yes, and if you watch his review about the pontus, you know why ;)
yes
If you are looking for a preamp DAC then no I2S is a major miss and will rule it out for many buyers.

After trying Eversolo and Rose, if you try the Rose RS130, you will never go back to EverSolo 😅

Glad to finally get to see a review on this. My key interest is on the dual sub out.
Excellent review as always. Only flaws I’m seeing are, unit is missing XLR’s for subs and Room correction not even close to NAD.
How would this compare sound wise to the Marantz AV10?
Does it do Apple Music bit perfect natively? Thanks!
Any thoughts on sound quality compared to AudioLab 9000N? Thanks
I think the price is steep for an ESS DAC
But it is really nice and feature rich
I would look elsewhere if I were buying in this price range
What other units would you consider and why?
@ Volumio RIVO Black with LPS
I prefer a transport
The Mercury 3 would be my second choice
Here is the link: amzn.to/3CFz04V
if it's great why are you asking for a streamer recommendation? Are you asking because you want a standalone streamer instead because you have a dac and integrated amplifier that you like or are you looking for something similar that is an upgrade?
How much of the UI interface/features of the Eversolo is important to you? Sometimes I find that while sound may be better on some other streamers, the interface and constant buggy apps really kill the experience when trying to get into the music
You have compared the A10 with Rose RS130? That would be interesting
Nice review. Can you compare streaming SQ vs the 6 and 8 (as a streamer only). Thanks
Aside from the additional features on the DMP-A10 still accessible when using just as a streamer... For me, the DMP-A10 as a streamer only still had better focus of imagery, transparency and timing/speed

This is an excellent marketing strategy.

Good question. No I am using it as a fixed output. Analog section on the dmp a10 is pretty good and I didn’t notice any degradation that made me frown

He then decides to take things out of context and makes two videos attempting to discredit me while calling me a liar with a thumbnail of him punching my face because he did not like my response.
@@Jayiyagi Wow, I apprecaite the detailed reply. Thanks Jay.
Similar results. It’s not “huge significant amount better” but it is “better”
In detail, transparency, imaging, and timing/speed
Are you saying one can bypass the internal DAC? Not sure if I understood correctly, but can one use the A10 as a streamer, go USB out to an external DAC, and then back to the A10 via analogue RCA /XLR too use its preamp section?
I don’t think that’s possible only because in the Eversolo settings you need to select your specific SOURCE input and output. One at a time only.
this is correct. You cannot do this on this unit
What distinction are you making between Soundstage vs Imaging? If imaging is reproduction of instrument placement, what is the definition of soundstage?
Nevermind - This is what my handy AI Copilot told me:
when an audiophile is making a distinction between imaging and soundstage, what is the difference?
At this price point I think the better value would be to go with an A6 and Puntus 15-1. That combo can be had for roughly $2400 which is $1300 less.
You need to add a DDC.
1:00 is the "in-knob" screen tilted to the left or is this a camera angle?

Nice. Thanks for sharing.
Hello Jay, does the HDMI input accept DSD from an SACD player with HDMI output ? Thanks
it does not seem so with this unit. Which is odd.
>Internals are supreme including layout, very tidy gear!
What about bass, mid and highs compared to the A8.
You didn't just forget this.
Thank you.
as I've said, the sound signature is similar.

No.... you either have to use it as an all in one unit or use it as separate components, i.e. streamer, dac, pre amp.
You cannot as you must choose one input and output at all times

Just get a Wiim. It's literally just a streamer with a digital out.
Hope you were able to pair the a10 and fr5 🤞🏼
I was not able to measure them so it's purely subjective and thus why I said "in my opinon"
However it is not based solely on the looks, the advertised specs for clocks used in the DMP-A8 and that of the hifi rose rs130 ranges from 70 Femto seconds to 200 Femto Seconds. Which is excellent.
However the advertised spec of the Eversolo's custom clock is below 50 FS, which is even better jitter performance in theory.
It's a decent looking offering from Eversolo. Just not worth almost twice the price of the DMP-08.
Why no Is2 port ??
I think higher end needs to be simpler. Less is more. Higher end internals but less features. Scrap the ugly nest thermostat volume display. Scrap the lipstick on a pig (large display). Scrap the DAC and room correction. I want it to be the best streamer it can be for sq. Focus on being a master of one, not a master of none.

Agreed on this one.

Mostly a useful review ,thankyou.
I totally forgot to mention that. That's my bad, I've mentioned in several comments here about the lack of the i^2s on this unit.
Nice depth of info. I suppose I'll keep looking for a better suitable preamp for my system.
I don't understand screens on a streamer. I have a $400 iFi steamer and bought a cheap iPad (android tablet would also be fine) to remotely control my streamer, either using Tidal Connect app or the iFi streamer app. I could have also used a smartphone.
Merci🙏💙
It's not true that you have more inputs than ever before. There is no one of most important digital out i2s (IIS). Shame... Flaghship without IIS? There is even no AES/EBU. That's far from maximum flexibility for connection to other devices. It is much better to buy Rose 150b for similar money.

Eversolo dmp-a10 vs nad m66?
I have not had the chance to check out the NAD M66 but I'd be happy to in the future and provide comparisons
No I2S out in the flagship? Even A8 has one.

actually... I had bullet points to keep me on track but there was no script😂
Not good quality soldering, resistor in volume control was very bad 😮😮. Is it production sample or is it prototype??
is that the li song?
Looks like the Lii-song OriginX S-10EVO.
yeap!
I have the A8 which i love. I see no reason to upgrade to the 10
enjoy!
The ess chip is a big deal breaker for me
Like most new companies regardless of what they are selling A few go above and beyond to establish a great name and a product that is attractive and packed with features and great bang for buck
But Alas then the company makes great profits and that's when the Rot sets in
The price all a sudden doubles useless features and gimmicks start to appear and then the company looses its status
When will these companies ever learn
1 Value for money
2 well thought out product
3 price point
It would be of great interest to know what the average joe blow spends in 2024 on the there entire hifi components system
I bet 75% spend less than $10k in total
How about $300
untill next month when they will release a new and better one...
This is gadget hifi for kids and feature nerds
I totally forgot to mention that. That's my bad, I've mentioned in several comments here about the lack of the i^2s on this unit.
Without an AK4499EQ DAC (not even EX) at this price point for me is a deal breaker.
A device that doesn't sound as good as it looks. Unfortunately.
🤷
I have a video coming up on this as well in the near future
. Call me when it streams 👍Britney Spears' - Hit me Baby👍 MV in 8K 24bit.

Why do you keep placing the A6 on the same level as the A8 ?
what do you mean?
Op amps? That kinda turns me off at $3700
I feel that
He says he likes tubes.....🤔
You can get the DAC for $200 from China just like where Ever solo is from. Marry that with your Tube Pre and you're done. I use the VMV D1SE on Tube 3 mode for that Tube effect.
You are referring to the DAC Chip that is being used. Yes, SMSL VMV D1SE is a pretty awesome unit but what matters in a dac and how it sounds is not only determined by the dac chip used. What matters more is the implementation of the dac chip as well as things like the PSU, clock and output stage
Too bad there is no AES/EBU input
ah yes, as well as the fact that it doesn't have i^2s. Even with its rich features, I don't think there is one product that can fit everyone's preference and needs.
Too much software depended, look at what SONOS did to us in April with their app… as of today not completely operational… no thanks….
That can be said about virtually any streamer tho?
@@Jayiyagi Indeed that is the reason to separate the DAC/PEQ/Pre-Amp from the streamer. With a good DAC and USB connections the streamer could be simplified. Just my 2 cents
Oh yea i am sure this piece of shit is as good as an Aurender N30 or antipodes oladra or even STATEMENT Next-Gen
Did YOU buy it?
no I did not and I do not plan to in the near future as I still love my Aurender N20
Why…, why the display volume knob? It’s so ugly…
