I already loved this song just for the concept and the catchy beat ("toki ni li jo e nimi ni" sounds great rapped, with or without comprehension), but today I decided to translate the lyrics, and found out it's also hilarious! jan Misali li toki e ni: musi li pini ala. lon, tawa mi!
Wait a minute... about halfway through the song, it's stated "nimi ale mute luka luka tu taso". Shouldn't that be "nimi ale mute luka luka luka tu taso"? I believe there are 137 nimi ku suli, not 132
@Emperor Dodd that was a result of prioritizing "taso" over an accurate number of words (and i guess sacrificing numerical accuracy for information is very much in the spirit of the language)

toki ni li jo e nimi ni
nimi ale lon toki pona! (x4)
THANK YOU you're a real one
I love how all the toki pona relevant ones are at the end
Thanks mate!
this is absolutely amazing, truly the peak of kalama musi
someone put this on the radio
New radio shows?
jan o pana e ni lon ilo pi kalama weka.
Then Toki Pona will have new radio shows!
@@EnriqueLaberintico yotube translate had a stroke trying to comprehend that
genuinely a banger. absolutely gonna study with this lmao
I can't wait for this song to be spammed in the toki pona discord voice chat and for my brain to wile moli
Lmao, brains will pa in toki uta
What did the internet do to deserve Mitch? This is beautiful
I was waiting for the kijetesantakalu, my favorite
it would've been cool if for the final "nime ale lon" they followed it up with a tiny bit of static and them saying "upekosi" and yupekosi would flash on screen
Of course the only word I took from this video was unpa.

I suppose you think this is cute
because it is!
But still, you're a fraud
@@mmmmmmmmmmmmm Yea but a cute fraud tho right?
ah, toki pona. the language with the largest Klinklang community.
1:55 I guess redditors only have to learn 119/120 of the words
it's E5 (137) words
Someone's gotta get translation captions up before the algorithm finds this...
I wasn't expecting this, but I love it! Absolute banger!
this is extremely cute and silly i love it
it sounds very good, too!
mi kute suli e musi sona ni (i think that says what i want it to, still learning!)
if you wanted to say that you listen to this song a lot, a better translation would be mi kute _mute_ e musi sona ni
I wonder if I can try making a diss track using toki pona 😈😈😈
i love the fact that some of the words that are generaly in the same category are right next to eachother, like ala wan tu mute, that especialy
This is unfairly catchy and fun, and I say that as someone who doesn't think much of toki pona. Good job. :P
I think I heard this on a radio show.
stephen hawking has been real quiet since this dropped
He’s been suspiciously quiet about toki pona since the beginning imo
putting both toki and pona at the end of a line was a good decision
THIS SHOULD BE TRENDING!!!
This has raised the distinct possibility that "jan misili" is actually toki pona for something, which is delightful
jan Misali means "person Misali" where Misali is just their name with toki pona phonology
Awesome, thank you :)
...i guess that means in another comment i basically said "good work person" when i was trying to congratulate Misali in specific lol
Why do people thing their name is Jan ughhh mi wile moli. Wish there were more high profile tp speakers so people would figure out jan comes before literally every tp name but I guess this is just a fact of life
I just found out today why jan wasn't captialized LMAO I was very delighted
that bass is dummy thicc
Tokipali jan, i got an ad for somebody's rap album in front of this video, so you're a real rapper
strong musical debut you have there
This feelings this song gives me are the emotional equivalent of shrimp colors.
im writing an essay on toki pona right now and this is my emotional support for it
How'd it go
pona suno pi toki pona!
I wonder that caused the decision to have the BPM be faster than the Pokérap?
since most of what jan misali is saying are 1 to 3 syllable words, i felt like a faster bpm would help the rhythm of the lyrics carry more
This video fills my heart with joy (and pure dork-energy)

misekeke, epiku, kokosila, pu, ku, kijetesantakalu HITS SO HARD!!
this has no reason to be as banging as it is
I typically save songs I want to listen to to a variety of playlists, including a general music playlist, either instrumental or lyrical, and then if it does have lyrics, one for the language it’s in. For now, until I learn the language better, this will be the only song in my toki pona playlist
big fan of this

The Poké rap has a new rival
tokirap: kulupu, poki

Jan - person, human, someone. I would hope so...
Here's my attempt to find 137 appropriate 漢字 for the tokirap. They're all based on commonly-used 漢字 in Hokkien, my native language, so they may be different from Mandarin or Japanese-based 漢字. These were chosen for their Hokkien meanings (mostly), but some of them also sound like the target toki pona word. I tried my best to make them look distinct.

What if this gets to a million views?
It should
Most of them may or may not be from me....
I love this song already!!!
play this at my funeral
That was increadibly nerdy.
Good. :)
