THERMAL PASTE IN CPU SOCKET! - PC Build GONE WRONG

  • Yup this really happened.
    Well the thumbnail is over-exaggerated, however, these two motherboards do actually have thermal paste in the AM4 socket. Yes this is real I was searching on TradeMe to put together a Budget Gaming PC to play games like Fortnite, Valorant etc. I though this would be a good buy until I clicked on the listing and so this abomination! This is what happens when you either put too much thermal paste on your CPU or you accidently put some on the socket when removing (some how??). Well guys, especially because TradeMe is Kiwi, please New Zealanders watching DO NOT DO THIS PLEASE! This is a satire video I actually feel really bad for this guy as he can’t get the motherboards to work now + the price of reselling them is very low now. :*(
    So sit back Relax and Have a GREAT day!

    So I bought a PC I went to take off the cooler and the CPU came off with the cooler bending the pins I was able to straighten out the pins and but there was still a bit of thermal paste left that wasn't coming of with my small brush, so intalled the CPU it seems to be working but can the little amount of thermal paste that was left on the pins cause problems in the future

    This guy made a whole video on making fun Of nobody and a motherboard with paste in the socket with absolutely intelligent answer to wasting all the time that he spent to do it.

    I got some in my socket and it still works but I got some thermal paste on the pins on my ryzen 5 3600 and does it affect it?

    • @beezito
      @beezito  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh ok xd. If it's working than it should be fine, but its best to clean something like. If it's working then leave it (you got lucky :D) :). Try not to get thermal paste in places like that in the future xd. Have an awesome day! :D -YS

    you can clean out the socket by spraying it with electronics grade aerosol solvent, dab the excess off and allow to dry for several hours. check the cpu pins as well and clean in the same manner as the socket. shouldnt be a problem.

    Listen boys, here is what you need: ladies eyebrow brush. It’s got plastic bristles on one side(do not use!) and on the other side there are bristles a little bit firmer than a make up brush so they can get the paste out without damaging the pins. Be careful, you are not brushing your freaking teeth but this is the best way to get it out aside from soaking the board. (tip was used on intel sockets)

      Interesting question haha. Personally I did odd jobs here and there. Mowing lawns, gardening services (and a little bit of help from your parents goes a long way! xD). You could try trading something you need don't anymore like me, what I did is I got a free Xbox one from a deal from signing up with Orcon way back in 2015. I sold the Xbox one for $400 and that helped a long way in building up some capital (cash). I'd highly recommend the lawn mowing though, if you can get contracts with at least 5 neighbors and cut their lawn every three weeks, charged them at least $30 per a cut (front yard and backyard), you would have way over $1500 in one year (WHICH IS AMAZING)!! (If you a kid who can't get a job haha). This could be a cool video idea to do haha, might do one after lockdown :). Could also check part-time jobs on Jobseeker etc if you're of legal age :). I know its hard man but keep on saving and you will get there eventually like me. Have an awesome day! :D -YS

    Just got my Z690 Aorus Master today, wouldn't post, so removed all components from it again. Tried to clean off some Thermal Paste that was getting close to the socket, and ended up pulling some pins out. So upset man, had to order a new one.

    • @beezito

      Dam, thats unlucky man :(. Yea its really hard on the lga sockets to try and get it out. On PGA at least there is more of a chance. :/ -YS

    You'd be suprised how many people this actually happen to. I've had numerous of long time pc builders come in for me to fix such issues. And this is why you should only do a tiny sized pee in the middle. Actually smearing the paste out and then mounting the cooler will push the smallest amount of paste out on the sides. Luckily its easily fixed with a toothbrush and some isopropyl alcohol
