    When you can’t do an in person termination session you can send a card with supportive comments letting them know what your work with them meant to you. I would also remind them of resources they can turn to if they need more help. Im sure your hard work and the care you shared with your students will have a positive impact. 😀

      had I known they wouldn't be there, I think I should've done just that. such sweet little kiddos. thankfully, when I left they got absorbed back into my supervisor's caseload so were still taken care of .. just not by me lol. I still think about those guys!! First clients really leave a lasting impact.

    I currently in my first semester for my MSW and been also placed in a school for crisis intervention. Can you share more about your experience and your role? Your videos have been so helpful.

    • @AnnaBea
      @AnnaBea  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi! I'm so glad the videos have been helpful for you. That's my goal! Crisis intervention roles for social workers can vary a lot between school districts, but at mine our crisis roles included $uic*de assessments, extreme behaviors or tantrums in a classroom, and well-child checks for kids who hadn't been heard from or attending school. To be honest, I did not end up needing to do much crisis intervention during my semester because not too many came up (thankfully).

    Awesome! Thank you for sharing! I'm starting my MSW this fall at UCCS and I'm curious about school social work. What are your plans for after your BSW? Are you going into school work? Also, did you have an end of internship assignment, like a paper or something? THANKS!

    • @AnnaBea
      @AnnaBea  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yayy for social workers!! After my BSW, I’ll be moving to ATL to complete my MSW through Fordham’s online program. I have a recent video that goes more in-depth of which programs I applied to and such, if you’re interested. I would love to continue working with schools, but also hope to get experience in a different area of the field for my MSW placement to be well-rounded :) For a final assignment, we created a anonymized case study of one of our clients to present and discuss to our seminar class.

    i’m in my first semester of community college for human services/social work and i was wondering what are your thoughts on the difficulty level and pay! (not asking how much you make but if it’s sustainable)

    • @AnnaBea
      @AnnaBea  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I actually haven't started a career in the field yet! I just began my first semester of grad school earlier this week, but am planning on getting a social work job after that. From what I know, my supervisor of this internship lived comfortably but not extravagantly. School social workers if employed by the district are often on teacher pay scales! But it changes area to area.

    • @melancholystreet
      @melancholystreet 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AnnaBea thank you sm for the information!!☺️☺️sorry to ask more questions but how long is grad school after getting your bachelors because i hear varying things from different people but never get an average

    • @AnnaBea
      @AnnaBea  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      no worries! I'm here to answer questions :) if you have a bachelor of social work, getting a master of social work is one year (called advanced-standing), if you have a bachelors in anything else, grad school is two years (typically split up into a generalist year and a specialist year for classes)

    • @AnnaBea
      @AnnaBea  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I guess it's important to mention that those lengths are for full-time students. If someone is part-time, it would take them double the time to take the same amount of classes

As you get to college, I would recommend making sure you have both social work / volunteering activities in your life AND activities that have nothing to do with social work (like clubs or hobbies) that can be a break if you ever start to feel burnt out

    Having BSW can work in school setting?

    • @AnnaBea
      @AnnaBea  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on the state! This was my field placement, not my job so I was an intern which has different requirements. However, in Alabama graduates with their BSWs can work in the school setting, but I know that’s not true nationwide.
