He didn't react to someone shouting "Jonsie" at the beginning. I suspect he wants to move on from that, and be recognised for his voices more than the character he portrayed (which ultimately was just the act he does now).
This man is an icon and a national treasure. I'm glad he's still around.

MICHAEL WINSLOW is a PHENOMENAL COMEDIAN. UNBELIEVABLE sound effects. He does the IMPOSSIBLE with sounds and his comedy is CLEAN . I love watching him perform he's AMAZING.

He seems a little rough around the edges in my opinion. That energy to me is genuine sense of humor. There comes a point when the presentation of a comedian is so polished that it just seems rehearsed to perfection instead of just being naturally funny. I appreciate his style and would also like to see a full stand up special. Then again I'd wanna see him and Dave Chapelle have a conversation about anything as well. Those 2 guys together would kill any crowd. No jokes needed just let me loose.

I like Michael Winslow but man he needs a comedy writer. His stand up is ok at best but he definitely has a talent for making sounds.
The problem is he’s not a comedian. He makes noises. That’s what he does best. He needs to work on his routine
He’s funny as hell you can’t get on stage and do that easy. He’s getting genuine cheers and people still come to see him decades after he’s relevant. It’s because he’s incredibly talented. Most comedians and actors don’t have this long of a shelf life. Michael Winslow has magic levels of talent and worked it into a functioning stand up set. He’s 64 not a young man. Hell even Dave Chappelle is 49 and can’t do it as good as he used to. Michael is a great act funny across all age groups. Most shock stand up comics can’t make joke in front of a room of old people and 20 something’s that aren’t regular fans.
I agree, his material isn't the best, everything is a setup to him making another noise, not actually a joke, which is impressive, and entertaining but ultimately not funny.
I agree. His stand-up routine used to be funny back in his younger days but not so much anymore. Even the absolute best stand-up comedians lose their comedic edge over time. Especially when they take time off. Even Chris Rock had to go back to playing a bunch of smaller, hole-in-the-wall venues after his time off from the stage.
10`000 sound effects is a little bit to much grabbed in the air, but 100 would be more realistic...

Honestly if he didnt leave hollywood to raise his 2 kids cause he lost his wife hed have a bigger career then Chapelle gotta remember this guys in his 60s and had a HUGE career before we even heard of Chapelle.
7 Police Academy movies, Spaceballs with Mel Brooks a comedy legend and Rick Moranis (another father who left hollywood after losing his wife to raise his kids), and Gremlins all of these in the 80s and 90s.
