    Cat In The Video : Tom (Black & White Domestic Shorthair Male Cat)
    Why Do Cats Get the Zoomies?
    Does your cat sometimes suddenly act super crazy, racing around the house, jumping on furniture, and pouncing on everything in sight? Some people call this the zoomies, cat crazy time, or the cat crazies. Here are a couple of things to know about why cats get the zoomies.
    Cat Crazy Time Is the Release of Pent-Up Energy
    The zoomies in cats is more frequently seen in kittens and cats that live in small spaces or that are alone a lot. It's the release of pent-up energy that hasn't been spent on hunting or playing throughout the day. Remember, cats are predators, so when they live indoors and don't have to hunt, that energy can build up and needs to be released.
    Love your furniture? Love your cat? Make them both happy with a furniture-saving Purrfect Post.
    If your adult cat frequently gets the zoomies, it could mean that she needs more interactive playtime with you. Set aside two 10-minute play sessions per day, and engage your cat with an interactive wand toy. Be sure to put the toy away between sessions, so your cat doesn't try to play with it alone and become dangerously entangled.
    Kittens probably need significantly more interactive playtime than older cats, and some very active cats might need more too. Increase your cat's playtime as needed.
    If you are gone and your cat is home alone a lot, you can provide puzzle toys and automatic cat toys to help release her mental and physical energy during that time.
    Add scratching posts and trees to your home to help your cat get out extra energy throughout the day. Scratching is very good for cats' mental health, and it can also decrease the chances that your cat will scratch inappropriate items in your home because she is not getting her energy out elsewhere.
    Zoomies Can Indicate Anxiety in Cats
    If your cat has suddenly begun to engage in cat crazy time when she never did so before, it could indicate that she is suffering anxiety for some reason. This is sometimes the case when you moved to a new home, get a new pet, or have a new schedule that impacts the time you spend with your cat.
    Many times, anxiety and cats can be relieved by employing some of the methods above, including extra interactive playtime. You may also wish to use a Feliway diffuser to help calm your cat. Feliway is a substance that mimics a calming pheromone produced by felines, and it can help decrease anxiety and stress in cats.
    Cats May Run Around Like Crazy from a Medical Problem
    Medical problems can cause this crazy running around behavior that some cats engage in. You should be especially suspicious of a medical problem. If the behavior begins suddenly, with no obvious triggers. Here are some of the medical conditions that can cause this feline behavior:
    Hyperthyroidism. In older cats, hyperthyroidism can cause increased energy levels and that might result in the zoomies.
    Flea infestation. Cats receiving flea bites might zoom around like crazy, trying to get away from the sensation.
    Allergies or other itchy skin problems. As is the case with flea bites, cats with other uncomfortable skin conditions might race around like crazy in an attempt to escape from the irritating feeling.
    Changes in hearing or eyesight. This is especially the case in older cats. Changes in hearing or eyesight might cause them to be spooked by sounds or sights they can't identify easily.

If you can build a trusting relationship with your cat, he will show you many cute things, such as sleeping on his stomach or clinging to you. You can also check your relationship with your cat through such behavior. Of course, even if you have lost trust with your cat, you can regain it, so take the time to spend with your cat and slowly build a good relationship.😻😻😻😻😻😻😻👦

      Keeping a cat locked up inside it pretty close to outright animal abuse. I've yet to see an imprisoned cat that doesn't seem broken in some way or another, they're always quite different from free cats.
      I don't get how it can be obvious for people that you can't keep your dog inside indefinitely but at the same time fail to realize that it's much worse for a cat.

    • @sushilampa8287
      @sushilampa8287 2 ปีที่แล้ว +39

      @@heinzhaupthaar5590 I get what you're saying, but its not animal abuse and you should quit throwing that phrase around...there's plenty of reasons a cat should be inside, cars and they're bad for the environment. Not to mention where I live there are coyotes everywhere so

    • @blueflare3848
      @blueflare3848 2 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      @@heinzhaupthaar5590 Keeping your cat outside where it can get killed by another animal, hit by a car, shot with a gun, or poisoned is far more abusive than keeping your cat indoors where it's safe. There's a reason indoor cats live significantly longer than outdoor cats. Additionally, outdoor cats damage the local ecosystem, and they are responsible for the extinction of a number of different bird species. If you can't provide the proper stimulation and enrichment for your indoor cat and it gets bored then that's on you.

    • @vixxcelacea2778
      @vixxcelacea2778 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@heinzhaupthaar5590 It's more like cats shouldn't be alone. You should have another cat, or another animal for them to engage with.
      Going outside however is more likely to kill them(unsavory people, cars, ticks, off leash dogs, racoons, coyotes, mountain lions, bears, owls, hawks etc) unless you train them on a leash (no where near as hard as people think), which I encourage if a cat is the type to be interested in doing so.
      Catios are a thing too. Changing an area or a patio/balcony into a cat friendly haven is a great idea. They get a lot of stimulation from being able to look outside, watch birds and people.
      People also don't play enough with cats. They need 15-20 minute bursts of play time multiple times per day to get out that excess energy.
      The excess not only leads to zoomies, but biting, scratching, attacking and excessive meowing because they are bored out of their minds.
      People buy/get cats because cute furry thing that purrs, but few actually realize they need attention, exercise and can be trained and should be to prevent behavioral problems.
      I've taught my cats to sit for food, to hop up and down surfaces and I've learned to read their body language, to know when one is in a bad mood and might get a little bity. To listen when they tell me to stop by gently biting or thwaking their tail. In return, they are more patient with me, they try to communicate before it gets to a biting and scratching point. People just don't respect animals very much to bother to learn how they communicate. This cat in the video is screaming "I am bored".
      Honestly, before anyone gets any animal, they should take a crash course in how they communicate, signs to look for and what to do when this or that arises, not just go "awww, how cute". And I say this as a person who made these mistakes in the past. I wish there was a license to have any pet really.

    • @mateobarrett6829
      @mateobarrett6829 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@blueflare3848 While it is not animal abuse, the cats aren't living their best lives when they're stuck indoors. Don't get me wrong, they can still have a good life, but they are missing out on an important part of being a cat - hunting and hiding in plants and bushes and grasses. Now obviously this isn't possible for everyone - especially apartment livers, but this is also why I haven't gotten a cat while I've had an apartment. But when I was growing up, I lived in a cul-de-sac next to a freeway with a high wall, totally safe for a cat and both my childhood cats lived to be 23 and 21, respectively.
      Any homeowners, especially with a yard, should 100% invest in catproofing their fences. Its pretty easy to find online, pretty straightforward in its function. Sure it doesn't look as good on your fences but it gives your kitty full reign of your backyard, containing them and protecting them from the vast majority of threats to their safety. If you've got bushes in your backyard the cat will also be safe from most aerial predators as well. The number of birds they threaten is also drastically reduced thanks to a decreased territory range. Cats deserve to live outside if you've got the space for them.
