If anything though, I’ll probably just wait until my birthday or Christmas to buy these little guys, and try to save up money in the meantime by only buying essential things and only when I actually need to!
As a pre-TF Microman/Microchange fan, I can't express how awesome these are to see. I do wish they came with the original Microchange decals and the Autobot badge as one (rather than a tampo) so I could dress them up as their pre-TF selves, but that's a minor quibble. Bare minimum: I expect Generation 2 version of Bumblebee, along with Bugbite, and Hubcap from this mold. Give or take an "animation" head rerelease later on for Bee.
While you makes good points about things that make up the price for these guys I still think they're a little too expensive for the size you get but they're still really cool. Really hoping this line is successful so we keep getting more. I was never one to search for the original G1 toys but I did get Missing Link Optimus and would love a Missing Link Astrotrain, Starscream or even Soundwave and Shockwave.

I wonder what the missing link versions of 'joint feet' characters like Warpath, Cosmos and Powerglide will look like. Talk about childhood frustrations..
I’m not expecting Takara to do the whole cast of Transformers as Missing Link. I think they did bumble bee because it’s a fan favorite and tossed in Clive jumper because the tooling is nearly the same.
Jumped on the Cliff pre-order as soon as it appeared - don't think these little guys are ridiculously overpriced given the factors mentioned here. And yes, of course I'd love ML versions of pretty much everyone in the 84-85 line-ups!
@@rueceless7580 But how with still being G1 accurate. The original hands were big 'muffins' you had to take off. Then again, maybe they'll just keep it that way.

fun fact bumblebee was originally sold for $2.99, and adjusted for inflation would be around $10 today, while this figure is being sold for $40 as a novelty. still bought 2 tho LOL 😂 (i just very recently got interested in G1 coming from a bayformers background)
So I just started watching the video and I have a quick question for you. Sixo.. isn't it always more on that later but they're never really is more on that later? 😂😂🤣🤣
If they had full head sculpts and proper knees (not just forward-bending ankles) I'd be interested. But as they are, these aren't updated enough for me.
They are pricey but I feel they are super premium. I definitely want Bumblebee. I think for me it is the definitive version. It looks like the original but with better articulation. As a collector I prefer the original toy look, not the animation look. How ever the price is high. I can’t see my self completing the original Transformers group, the first year releases, at these prices, if Takara even attempts the whole run. So might pass on Cliff Jumper.
Concept and execution-wise, I think this line is stellar. However I do think the price tag really diminishes the possibility of making this a legendary line and instead it's just a cool niche thing.
I have two sets of these on pre-order. Although, I now really wish that the animation Convoy had been given a suffix to it's numerical designation, rather than it's own number.
Unlikely as it is, Missing Link Glyph and Tap-Out would make my day since they have so few figures compared to Bee and Cliff Also expecting an animated accurate Bee with a new head and traditional rubsign.
New tooling, die cast bits, vac metal, rubber tires, newly engineered articulation, Japanese release in unknown run size? I feel like I should pay more?
Well i suppose for the price, its a continuity with the others g1 reissue. Hope to get these guys. but the biggest problem for me will be for people outside the American continent. As someone living in Europe, it's going to be difficult lmao

I'm a science teacher and use Transformers in the classroom. I figure when talking about mass, momentum, and Newton's laws of motion, I could use HotWheels or I could go ahead and use G2 Optimus Prime with G1 trailer and G1 Bumblebee.
If they are the same size as the originals, that means they are going to have some thin arms and legs that now have elbows and knees. I hope they are reasonably durable.
I think that a missing link Rodimus Prime would be a definite improvement! The original is straight garbage for one of my all time favorite Transformer!
Everything nowadays is too expensive. Every single thing. But there's a reason for that. Our leaders can't just print money as they wish. That being said, missing link is an absolute home run. Wanting show accurate figures is "missing" the point of Missing Link - while they came with show accurate weapons and Optimus comes with a matrix and energon battle axe...
Yeah it is bc that’s still not what Missing Link is about. Cool accessory nods to the cartoon is one thing but the toys themselves are inherently 1:1 toy styled, whereas there are several (Masterpiece, SS86 etc) cartoon-styled lines that are specifically designed to be show accurate
theres no way these should have been more than $20 and even that is pricey for a 2"-3" bot. its absolutely absurd. so yeah, i wont be getting this any time soon until i find them at some toy convention for $20
I know that I'm referring to the retail price. Compared to toys today they can easily make the older ones because they don't have as many features and detailing. Asking for well over $30 or more for upgraded features for a G1 toy is a ripoff unless it's Optimus Prime but for Bumblebee and Cliffjumper it would be nicer if it were less.
Paying $40 for each of these sets a very dangerous precedent, irrespective of production run. If you pay this, expect subsequent releases to just get more and more expensive.
The price is too high considering their size. Im not sure if ill buy these. Also they're obviously not going to release a g1 Megatron. After all he turns into an evil gun. 😂
1) "metal giving a premium vibe" always amuses me, as die-cast metal was a cost-SAVING feature at the time: it was actually cheaper to use painted metal for large pieces than make them out of plastic, as the world was only just coming out of a petroleum shortage. They're overpriced, just like the Optimus Prime was. I doubt TT will sell many different figures in this line due to the small amounts of people who've bought them. The idea, although TLTL, is still a good one, but I suspect people will be more interested in the upcoming, possibly cheaper 3P G1 Grimlock toy with full articulation instead.
The rub signs are going to be under the right foot. The original sticker detail will be on the backs of the head. I'm hoping that they will be tampographed.
I compare them to the current asking price for near mint condition originals and suddenly they're not so expensive... I have them both on order from Amazon Japan and can't wait to put them with Prime! Time for Megatron next!
I’d rather spend $40 on a little toy than on dinner at a restaurant…at least the toy doesn’t transform into shit and piss the next day…. I preordered both of these guys right away. It’s such a fun (and kind of ridiculous) idea to give 40+ year old designs modern articulation. I love it, though. Hopefully they feel as nice as ML Optimus.
It's not enough value for $40. Even if you strap on 30+ points of articulation, it doesn't have enough heft/size to justify the price. If you're justifying the price for FOMO, you seriously have a mental illness. No doubt these will be in low production, but they also double as a test product. This means if it sells out, then that just gives Takara/Hasbro free reigns to justify more R&D to re-tool whatever G1 molds still exist in their vault. So you're essentially setting yourself into an endless purchase loop, endless FOMO cycles and constant confirmation bias leading up to each release. This is not healthy for anyone's mental health, but this is on purpose; ask anyone in marketing. You have to set boundaries as a collector or someone trying to justify re-purchasing toys from their childhood. Do you really need this revision for display or end up indirectly purchasing the entire line, such as the Masterpieces introduced in the early 00s? I know a lot of grown men that regret buying Masterpieces, not knowing where to stop. Sometimes the most simple evaluation is just buying the original vintage, regardless of the secondary market price. It's usually a one and done affair; you're displaying them like you would and it was the figure you previously owned as a child. By purchasing Missing Link, you'll fall into the same purchasing patterns as the Masterpiece line. Even if you can afford it, it's a lot of time spent hunting, pre-ordering new waves, chatting in message boards and watching YT videos for additional confirmation bias reinforcement of your purchase.
