Anthony, I am glad you worked your way to redefining your way into being transparent..You mentioned in enough words a turbulent childhood. My guess is that this is exactly how 99% percent of children are going to behave under chaos. You also developed fortitude and resiliency! About working at MCRD with an oversized ego, I am glad you did your introspection and came to the realization that DIs are not training those in training to become recruits but Marines. About the unethical behaviors, there is absolutely no reason why this should be happening. The Marines want to imprint that it is necessary, really? IT, PT, putting the fear of the Marines doesn't require putting hands on anyone. It never happened to me. But we had a Marine in my unit who I found out was being physically abused by some Corporals. He developed a serious drinking problem and was discharged.
About your education, I am totally onboard with this. I used all my educational benefits and was fortunate to land a career. Education is the difference in lightness and darkness.
Former Marine here, (Always a Marine). I'm working on myself as well. After a divorce a few years back, I'm still bouncing back. It's good that we all have our network, the brotherhood. Keep up the good work.

Any major life turning event or point, will affect from the strongest to the weakest of all of us, emotionally. Rebuild yourself emotionally. Do activities that will help you channel your emotional energy so you can and will grow positively..I had a girlfriend of five years that turned out to be a nightmare..She screwed me over financially and was cheating..The cheating had lost its meaning; I was more than ready to get out. I lost about 35 pounds in three months. I also learned that I was investing wrongly emotionally..Like a puzzle, I rebuilt my emotional life and became stronger and wiser..You have the control levers to rebuild emotionally.
