  • These are two of the very best 3 blade fixed broadheads on the market. Bishop makes the most durable one piece CNC machined head and Exodus makes the most durable replaceable blade head. Let's see how they handle some punishment.

    For more than half the price and replacement blades the Exudes make more sense to me. Excellent test!!

    For 40 bucks the QAD is a solid head! Probably the the most durable head I've seen tested in that price range and even better than some higher cost heads.

      Yep, I completely agree. I've long said it is the best overall broadhead in the "normal" price range. I love the replaceable blades, love the flight, love the edge retention, and love the size of the cut. I've taken well over 50 animals with the Exodus so far; it always gets the job done. Thanks for watching and commenting!

    Did you ever shoot the regular exodus? The ones you show on this video are the swept type.....and here in NY they illegal but I have a like 50 heads of the regular and I don't think they fly like field tips

    • @LuskArcheryAdventures
      @LuskArcheryAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've tested them both extensively. For a while, they were the only heads I was using. I shot both the Swept and the Full models. The Swept were slightly more forgiving in flight than the Full, but both flew well. If your bow is well tuned and your form is consistent, they will pop balloons out to 80 yds no problem...and probably further.

    Wow that Bishop is pretty impressive man. Have you ever shot the VPA 3 blades? Looks very similiar.

    • @LuskArcheryAdventures
      @LuskArcheryAdventures  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The guy who designed the VPA also helped on the design of this Bishop head. But the Bishop is thicker and shorter. With less surface area, it is more forgiving in flight. With its modified geometry, it is less prone to a tip curl. In the S7 tool steel, this is absolutely THE strongest broad head ever made.

    • @LuskArcheryAdventures
      @LuskArcheryAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Good suggestion. I am not sure how the "high carbon steel" would compare to S7; theoretically, it would not. The Charpy Scores are dramatically different. And the Penetrator has such a significant surface area, the flight would be much less forgiving than the Bishop. Each have the same size cutting diameter, so that's intriguing, but I think the flight and durability would be quite different. But a test would be intriguing. Thank you for the suggestion.

    Another entertaining video from LAA!!! I tried the QAD Exodus and loved their sharpness. But i found arrows kinda taking on a life of their own couple yards before hitting target. I lost confidence in them and traded for other broadheads. I had better experience with the VPAs but they too although less than QAD take on an erratic flight patter sporadically. I'm currently shooting the Magnus buzzcuts for my fixed blade broadheads. I'm shooting the Trypans for my expandables based 100% on your recommendation. And that was a great suggestion from you. Now where in carnation did you slay a 700lb hog??? Sounds like hogzilla!

    • @LuskArcheryAdventures
      @LuskArcheryAdventures  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks Donovan. I've not had that problem with the flight of the Exodus; I can pop balloons at 100 yards with them. They're not the most forgiving head, but are in the top several, at least from my testing. But all those you mentioned are great ones. That hog was on a ranch in CO. It's a 1000 acre hunting ranch were the hogs come from domestic stock, but are set free on the ranch and actually get surprisingly wary over time. But the domestic stock gives them the size and good taste :)

    • @LuskArcheryAdventures
      @LuskArcheryAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great question Matt. I have tested both extensively and have taken over 50 animals (lost count after that) using both models. They are both excellent heads but the Swept are slightly more forgiving in flight at longer ranges and they are equally as strong. The thinnest part of both of the blades is the same, actually, so the extra size of the Full blade does not really help it's strength. And some have found that the Full blades can actually bend back into the arrow and cause damage. I've never seen that happen in all my testing, but I have read from someone who said it did with them.

Buried very well into the ground. 1st shot tight on the shoulder clipped the cord on the bottom of the spine & I thought I had a pass through. He dropped so quick @ 11 yards we will never know. U get 3 & later u might have 2 buy a single but still worth it.

    When you're talking Rockwell hardness are you sure you're comparing on the same scales? (i.e. HRB vs HRC) Because a 55 HRC is significantly harder than a 60 HRB. In all my experience tool steels are measured with diamond indenters in HRC and stainless is measured in HRB with a steel ball indenter and aren't directly comparable without converting.

    • @LuskArcheryAdventures
      @LuskArcheryAdventures  6 ปีที่แล้ว

    It looks like you lose cutting on the exedus due to 1/4 of the broad head is the tip. Then the blade is kinda hidden behind and under the tip

    • @LuskArcheryAdventures
      @LuskArcheryAdventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No cutting is lost. The total diameter of the cut is 1 1/4". What happens with that lip has nothing to do with the total cutting diameter.

      :) They are definitely a niche market. They’re all made in the US with US steel and extremely difficult machining of their proprietary S7 Steel. They have no employees, and the owner/designer has a full time job as a school principal. Their margins are extremely low. So the money is well spent, but it is certainly not for most budgets.

    I love the heads and know they are amazing, but there is no way I can hope to afford anything from Bishop archery. It is extreme quality but a very high price and with how frequently arrows are lost or you don't quite get a pass through and the animal runs off and you never find it and so on that's just too risky for that price. And with the quality of the Exodus being so high and so much cheaper I think its the more reasonable option either that or some sevr heads.
