Wow! I just discovered you today and I am so happy! Your vibe is awesome and you are a great instructor. I cannot wait to get back in the rink! I have wanted to be a jam skater for decades and I am really going to focus on it now. Keep the videos coming!
Ooh this was cool, thanks! I think this'll help me heaps! I also just changed back to gummy wheels for easier cardio long skates, but it's definitely not helping my manouvering skills! I might have to change again, thanks for the tip, I'm gonna watch that wheel video now 😊.
Backwards skating is one of my favorite things to do 😍 I want to get really good at it, but for some reason I have a psychological block on switching wheels when indoor, I’m literally scared that I’ll fall all the times with hard indoor wheels, is it normal or it’s just me?
Believe me it's normal. We all go through that. Most of the steps that you will do, are when you are going backwards. When I first started going backwards I felt so awkward and clumsy. That will change. Everytime you do it, you get better at it. It just happens. Keep at it! I promise, you will be an awesome skater.
Go up gradually. If you're on, say, 82A wheels, go up to an 84 or 85A. Once you get used to those, get a 90A or 92A wheel. Etc. You don't have to jump from a 78A outdoor wheel to a 103A indoor wheel. It's a process. Plus, this also helps if you're lucky enough to have more than one rink in your area. All rinks are different. Once you're comfortable in "all durometers" - especially at the rink you go to the most - you may actually discover that you like "X" for your closest rink and "Y" for the farther rink, while still keeping a set of "Z" for outdoor skating. My local rink, I normally run 78's in the back with 85 fronts. The rink further away from me, I like to use all 96A's. While outdoor skating, I'll run the same 78/85 combo or go with all 78's.
guess what Debbie", my rollers got here but small size imagine !!! the way I was looking forward to start everything I have learnt watching your videos....now with all the lockdown wonder when I will ever get the replacements..mmmmmhh poor start indeed...all the same I lu your videos thank GOD for instilling your passion inskating

this helps alot. last time i was playing around with backward skating (before everything shut down) i really noticed i spent most of my weight on my toes. it never dawned on me that you kinda steer with your heals. you have any advice for going backward on one foot? ive been trying, in hopes of perfecting my backward balance, but i keep steering off to one side or the other. i probably just need to keep at it.
For what it's worth, I saw a video where the guy keeps one shoe on and practices steering backwards on his skate foot. It is pretty impressive, and he is on an inline skate. Definitely something I will work on when my backwards begins to advance!

Happy to help!
U make it look so easy! I love watching ur videos & I like to see u 🛼
Thanks so much 😊
Thanks always for the tips. Can hardly wait to try. 👍🙂
Best roller skate teacher ever 😎

I have a whole playlist "Backward Skating" that you should definitely check out. It has all sorts of videos there to help you from the basics to advanced.
@@Dirtydeborahharry youre the best thank you!!
Like that slide move at the end give us a tutorial on the cool slidin!!!!!
Another super helpful video!
You make the best tutorials! Thank you! ❤
Wow, thank you!
this helps alot. last time i was playing around with backward skating (before everything shut down) i really noticed i spent most of my weight on my toes. it never dawned on me that you kinda steer with your heals.
you have any advice for going backward on one foot? ive been trying, in hopes of perfecting my backward balance, but i keep steering off to one side or the other. i probably just need to keep at it.
For what it's worth, I saw a video where the guy keeps one shoe on and practices steering backwards on his skate foot. It is pretty impressive, and he is on an inline skate. Definitely something I will work on when my backwards begins to advance!
@@elleyj1754 was it shoptask? Their videos are great. :)
@@shawnhollern now that you mention it, I believe it WAS Shawn Unwin! I agree, Shop Task puts out some great videos. I need to find that one again for future reference. I wish you the best with your backwards practice! ☺
Correct and reverse you control the direction with your toes not your heels
Ur videos r the best ..
I’ve just found this channel and you are phenomenal! I’m getting back to skating and doing research to brush up on everything as I practice. Love your videos!
Awesome! Thank you!
Hey sweetie. Me again. I think my wheels contributed to my fall this past Saturday. They don't move when I spin them! 1 did, left rear. Question: loosen or replace wheels? Money tight, fixed income 3 all. My skates 32 years old, still in good shape, just no maintenance. Thank you so much good
