Another one of the great groups from the 60's. Frankie Valli & the Four Seasons had so many hits together such as "Silence Is Golden", "Sherry", "Rag Doll", "Candy Girl", "Ronnie", "Dawn", "Let's Hang On!", "Working My Way Back To You", "Big Girls Don't Cry", "I've Got You Under My Skin", "December, 1963 (Oh, What A Night)" etc. When Frankie went out on his own in the 70's, he had the hit songs "My Eyes Adored You" & "Can't Take My Eyes Off You". Also he had a hit with the song "Grease" from the movie. Always loved that he was able to sing in a falsetto voice.

Mugs, I was there in the day, and didn't think a thing about it. The boy's father was telling him to have self-respect and not allow someone to treat him badly. He phrased it as "Be a man," but there's nothing wrong with manly behavior! If it had been a daughter, her mother might have told her to be mature, "Always be a lady," and "You deserve better than that.". Sometimes a little gender-coaching is a good thing.

When choosing music, the reactors typically work from polls of people whose primary knowledge of the 60s is that it's when their grandparents grew up? I can't recall hearing a reaction to "Neil Sedaka" and precious few to The Drifters, The Shirelles, or Rick Nelson.

These guys owned the top of the charts, until the Beatles did their thing...and thank God for the Beatles. Yeah, he's got a decent falsettto voice, but to me they symbolize much of what was so crappy growing up pre- Beatles, Dylan, and psychedelia. The lyrics about turn my stomach, as do most of their lyrics.
