- Prince Harry admirers ‘furious’ over King Charles III uniform decision | Palace Confidential. King Charles’s decree that only working royals can wear military uniforms at the Queen’s funeral next week, could be storing up problems with his son Prince Harry in the future. Some have praised the decision as ‘decisive’, but the Daily Mail’s Diary Editor Richard Eden believes the King is making a ‘mistake’. ‘While I think the King made the right decision in banning Harry and Andrew from wearing their uniforms. I think it was a mistake that he’s allowed Andrew to wear his for this vigil in front of the Queen’s coffin in Westminster Hall,’ he tells our royal talk show Palace Confidential. ‘It doesn’t seem right then for Prince Harry to then be denied any opportunity. I can’t see any logic behind that exception at all I’m afraid.’ He adds that Prince Harry will be understandably upset that his uncle Andrew is allowed to wear a vice-admiral’s uniform for the private event. ‘Let’s be clear, this decision by the king about the uniforms is a big, I mean, Prince Harry and Meghan’s admirers are furious about it,’ he adds. ‘I think it’s fair to say that when they return to California, we might be hearing more about this.’

As an old Army wife, I am 100% positive that anyone who resigns/leaves the UK military aren't entitled to wear their uniform - medals presented and worn on clothes are fine. Harry left of his own accord - he resigned, turned his back on his Regiment. Although I'm no fan of Andrew - he retired and was our Queen's son. Within the military, there is a big difference between resignation and retirement.

I rarely disagree with Richard, but I do today. Andrew, whatever may be said, has NEVER been convicted of anything, was only accused, and has NEVER spoken out against the Monarchy. Harry, on the other hand, willingly gave up his military roles and during the past two years, he and wife have done everything possible to besmirch the Royal Family and continue to do so with threats of books and just a few days ago, Meghan's threat about 'can say what I want, never signed anything'. Andrew should wear uniform on this occasion, Harry should not. (And personally, I hate the fact H&M are even there. I can only imagine the stress and embarrassment those two caused the Queen in her last years).

The queen has not being making decisions for a very long time, if you know anything about aging, when we reach a certain age most of the time we can't make the right decision, people around us will tell us what they think is best, and we easily agree because we are not sure that we can make the right decisions on our own. The queen wasn't even informed about all the garbage, nor was prince Philip informed about the interview, there nothing but lies out there.

The Wessexes are the unsung heroes of the last twenty years and continue to be warm, heartfelt, humble and supportive, and the epitome of class. You can see their genuine heartbreak for the loss of Prince Phillip and now the Queen. In fairness, Andrew settled out of court. He was accused of alleged actions that were never proven. The Queen allowed him to escort her last year at Prince Philip's funeral, and he is her son. Harry walked away from his job as Colonel in chief when he left the Royal family He is not a serving Soldier he is no longer a working Royal he is not entitled to do it, just as Andrew is not allowed as his roles with the military's have been removed and he is not a serving officer
There is a difference between resignation and retirement. With resignation, you lose privileges. With retirement, you dont. This are military regulations. When retired, you can wear uniform for specified functions. Not so in case of resignation. Awards may be worn in both cases.

Perhaps the difference is Andrew is the Queen's son whereas Harry is a grandchild. Andrew is her immediate family.

Yes , hs served in the Falklands war , and yes he did assist in the evacuation of sailors from a British ship that had been hit and was on fire . He was the pilot of what I think was a Wessex5 or SeaKing helicopter . I remember it like yesterday.

While I agree it is a bit odd having Andrew briefly in uniform, we have to remember all he is really guilty of is exceedingly poor judgement. He has remained loyal to his country, his family and the Crown. Harry, on the other hand , has abandoned his country, his duty and even his family. What goes around comes around.

On hearing the sad news I was so glad for the Queen that her death was at Balmoral the place she felt more at home than any where. I bet even Loch Ness shed a tear . God bless the good King.

Andrew retired from the military. Harry got out long before retirement. Retirees can wear uniforms during certain events. My dad at 94 would have been buried in his Air Force uniform if he hadn't chosen cremation.

I do see the logic. The four children have been marching behind the queen so far, not the prince of wales, nor their spouses and no grand children. I can see how he would allow Andrew to wear uniform, even though I’m personally against (both Andre and Harry). But this is a clear message that Harry and his wife are out of the royal family.

It seems to me that "only working" royal's, should display in uniform, was enough said! However, this seems to be a private, family matter that does not really affect the body politic, or policies that the people must live with, so I think "whatever". Uniform or no uniform, will change the public opinion of certain family members, no matter how much it bolsters their own ego's.

To put things in perspective, Andrew wanted to fight it out in court but the Queen knew her days were numbered and needed him to end it soon before she died. She also needed to address Camilia's title at that time. Just my opinion on why Andrew is now allowed to wear the uniform.
