    Desculpa @alevulgare !

    Ele representa a alma deste país.

    On the other hand, we can calculate. From 3:23.600 to 3:30.800 there are five ticks to be heard clearly. That is 4 disc rotations in 7.2 seconds, which is the same as 33,33 rotations in 60 seconds.
    So this recording is obviously taken from a 33 1/3 vinyl LP record, which will be a reissue of a 78 record. Yet it is highly improbable that at the studio transfer, the technician played the original 78 lacquer disc at the wrong speed.
    So yes, we can more or less trust the tuning. Lowest string = F.

    Wow I've just played 6 versions of this - all fine in their own way , but this is the first that brought a tear to my eye. I don't know why. Perhaps I heard it as a child before a time I can remember? it just seems to have the right pace and pauses and matter-of-fact quietness to create that pathos. When was this recorded? Are we sure this was the original speed? It sounds quite fast. Thank you for uploading.

    Chorões geralmente não seguem as notas e o ritmo ditado pela partitura, embora linda composição o choro n1 não precisa ser seguido a risca, tenho certeza que Villa Lobos, uma das lendas do choro, não queria isso quando a compôs, quem toca choro é mais que um simples intérprete, é alguem que sabe improvisar e criar mesmo em cima de boas obras, mesmo as de Villa, que dão essa liberdade para o intérprete. Há varias versões de vários interpretes, todas lindas e agradáveis de serem ouvidas, por quem gosta de música de verdade, exceto os fiscais de partitura, os ingênuos e néscios musicais, que se ocupam de condenar os interpretes que não seguem notas e ritmos da partitura.

    I wanted to analyze this for a graduate theory class. My instructor looked a bit upset not thinking of it as having enough value. We were going to do Schanker graphing and such. The piece is a nifty piece that is popular in nature. The rhythmic accents are fun to play, and stopping some of the chords a little short with a strong accent on the beat helps project the piece.

    • @vlasov18
      @vlasov18 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      im not versed on musichal theory, but i really get what you mean. This piece is really fun to play and making accents in some chords and notes makes a difference. I dont like the way the master here is playing the piece, sounds too jazzy, casual, "lounge".

    • @MarkInLA
      @MarkInLA 9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      vlasov18 Why ? It's apparently a dance, not a nocturne, prelude, gigue or waltz..It IS a lounge piece but a lounge piece in Rio where dancing is common throughout the society there and is still sophisticated like ballroom dancing, not like ass bumping, dry humping, crotch grabbing rock music dancing has become. It's not Bach or Giuliani. It's 20th century jazz era..

    • @Cv8nswr0
      @Cv8nswr0 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not sure I get you point: Why? Do you believe the piece is good enough to be analyzed in a graduate theory class? Or, are you agreeing with my professor, that it is not a good enough piece, especially for Schenker Graphing? Being a functional dance piece tells be nothing about the quality of the music. As you know many functional pieces turn out to be quite promising pieces. My belief is that it is a non functional dance piece but a fine piece written by Villa Lobos for Guitar. Can't picture anyone dancing to this solo guitar composition unless they had an unusual PA system. So many instrumental pieces are based on dance forms only. Bach's English and French Suites. The Tarantulas etc. I think Classical guitar would not fair so well if we eliminated the dance forms. These are not functional dance pieces, and I have my doubts Villa Lobos pictured it anymore than a composition for guitar.

    • @MarkInLA
      @MarkInLA 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I mean it is good enough to be analyzed at university music level . It's a well composed, melodic, exciting piece of music, very descriptive of a latin dance whether really meant for dancing or solely for art's sake. Critics may say it's too simple, not classical, and has no value. Tell the critics to compose something better..!

    • @Cv8nswr0

    dont believe that Villa-Lobos is playing here. His primary instrument was the piano. There are several statements that he didnt play the guitar on that professional level, we hear here (which needs daily practice for years).
    Its a fake.
    Same with the recording of Prelude Nr 1.

    • @Erick-nc8mc
      @Erick-nc8mc 8 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      his main instrument was the cello, and he was a really good guitarrist, in a period of his life he plays in a wonderful level, when he composed his "12 etudes" for example (master Carlevaro said), and he didn't need practice daily for years when his fingers were training (idk if this record is 'real' but i can't say "its fake", i think is a risky opinion historically talking)

      Gerd Progel There are varying reports on that incident. In Villa-Lobos version of the story Segovia was actually angered by how good Villa-Lobos played and left the dinner/party/gathering out of frustration.
      Both stories similarly describe the other one as a poor guitarist. That gives reason two doubt both accounts, since we're talking about Segovia and Villa-Lobos :-)
      Maybe both had a lot of ego!
