  • Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa form the bloc of emerging economies, but is it still relevant?
    For several years now, the most talked-about trend in the global economy has been the rise of developing markets.
    Some economists expected Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa to lead the world to new economic heights. But as the BRICS bloc met for its 8th summit in India's state of Goa, those hopes appeared to be fading.
    Most of the countries involved are struggling to deal with slowing economies. They must find ways to forge closer business and trade ties. But there are other concerns to be addressed too, national security and the threat posed by terrorism.
    Presenter: Laura Kyle
    Guests:
    Sreeram Chaulia, Dean of the Jindal School of International Affairs.
    Aly-Khan Satchu, emerging markets economist
    Anastasia Nesvetai-lova, director of City Political Economy Research Centre at City University London.

    There is always hope and one must remember this quote by R. Buckminster Fuller , "There is nothing in a caterpillar that tells you it's going to be a butterfly." Although, we as a group (BRICS) are not as bad as a caterpillar as one can definitely see hope, hence things will work out !

    India spoke out about cross border terrorism from Pakistan not just at the BRICS summit in GOA, but also at the UNGA. India will keep speaking out against Pakistan sponsored terrorism every chance it gets, regardless of support coming from other countries. Cross border terrorism is a reality and India will keep the spotlight on it. And the next time a Mumbai 26/11 type attack happens we will be at a position of power to play the ball our own way because we were screaming about it all along at the world stage. Pakistan would find itself truly isolated then. You see right now the world is aware but not paying much attention to terror from Pakistan because frankly the horrors that are going on at the moment in Syria, Yemen, Iraq, Libya etc. are far greater. India knows this and is slowly preparing the field, eliminating any and all support to Pakistan. The next time it attacks India, not even China will find it easy to extend their support. That way, we ensure China's unwillingness to get involved and we solve our Pakistan problem too. Win Win ! And if Pakistan takes the message and mends its ways it is even better, but that seems highly unlikely. You guys are underestimating India. We are the land that gave birth to Chanakya, who wrote the Arthashastra. Politics is in our mythological epics written more than 5,000 years ago. Children grow up listening to stories about how kings were made and how they were broken, told to them by their grand parents. We donot underestimate China as well. We know what they're capable of.
    "Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win." -- Sun Tzu

      I know Chankya's book Arthashastra which is totally based on realism. Indian foreign policy revolves around this book. One of the filthy line I wana expose is the (enemy circle) in which Chankya says that a king should keep enemity with the neighbours of his boundary circle and keep friendship with second neighbours.
      This obselete policy was helpful in past before treaty of Westphalia where there was no define territorial sovereignty and the king easily increase its territory by the help of second neighbours.
      Ironically India still using this policy and it have very bad relation with all of its neighbour not only Pakistan but also Nipal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, China, Srilanka, and having good relation not only with Russia but also Iran, Saudis, Afghanistan, etc

    Well it's mainly Russia and China that's relevant. India and Brazil and South Africa are basketcases, especially India. India's gdp per capita is 1500 USD and it's population is going to overtake China soon. That's just a lot of people you'll have to marginalize somehow as automation is going to take over menial jobs.

    Why can't each country MOSTLY create everything they need but have emergency pacts and climate change coalitions? Instead of free trade of "things" wouldn't it be better to share ideas instead? Ideas that can be used to then create in their own country the things they need? If we have a disaster be it agriculture or otherwise then we can help one another? All this global trading is not good for environment either, if we shared ideas instead each country can retain all product in their own country's.💜

    These people on the panel are so brave, "dare to speak to what will be the cause that will definitely cause the failure and collapse of the BRICS. To these little minds India is the hero because on India is a democracy; that said, may I ask them "is success only to be measure by it democratic content ?" That being their obvious mind set, WHAY DISCUSS WHETHER IS SUCCESSFUL (EVEN FROM DAY 1 OF HER FORMATION ?) I can now comment how off the mark their comments are, not that BRICS celebrate her 10th birthday ! BRICS in 47% of the world economy AND FAST GROWING BIGGER BY THE DAY. BRICS forum was attended by 137 countries ! They have outperformed G&, whose economies are now 31% of the world economy. India believes she does not think BRICS gives no positives or benefits and intend to decouple and withdraw from BRICS; I believe from India's perspective that will be most beneficial, then India can join with America(soon there will be an Indian American President and hence why not join the opposition ? I believe India has made a very wise dcision. She cannot stand Pakistan, she does not want expansion of the membership ! Maybe Norendra Moody is American mole plant ! Who can say. "America says she made China great", so now America can make India greater than China.....yah ?

    Yes, "Personal Animosity"!!! Why India had to raise their personal issues in an international conference, when they SOMETIMES aren't the victims??? Brazil, Russia and South Africa, are not interested in those problems!!!

      So Sorry *Exactly*, but you don't see other nations complaining about that on international conferences that has nothing to do with terrorism, domestic or abroad!!!
      That's why I said "QUIT THE WHINING INDIA!!!"

    • @user-qv7ek1pc1e
      @user-qv7ek1pc1e 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Beth_9 Beth_9 If don't complain you can never solve the problem and in India terrorist coming from only Pakistan.....we can't stop terrorism by just invading Pakistan like US which created a bigger terrorist group......that's why we complain.....like you complain to your teacher if one of your classmate attack you and teacher punish that person but when you hit back then teacher punish both of you .....

    • @beth_9214
      @beth_9214 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      So Sorry *First* there are international spaces where you can complain about international terrorism, and an international meeting where 3 of 5 those countries knows almost nothing about your neighboring conflicts, it’s definitely not the space for this kind of talk!!! And also those 3 are *thousand of miles away from the conflict zone with your neighbor!!!*
      *Second* "in India terrorist coming from only Pakistan"... if you talk to a Pakistani, they will say the exactly same thing, with the same passion that Indians do, it would sound like this: in Pakistan (Kashmir) terrorism comes only from India!!! This means that terrorism in Kashmir is coming from both sides, so nobody is the victim and nobody should be blamed!!! Both sides needs to stop that once and for all, and must find a solution, which they haven't done yet!!!

    • @user-qv7ek1pc1e
      @user-qv7ek1pc1e 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Beth_9 Beth_9 Are you out of your mind ....Pakistan and India are Nuclear powered countries...if terrorism is not stopped there will be a nuclear war for sure.....and if Nuclear war between India and Pakistan happens then WW3 is inevitable plus countries living in peace will also get affected by War because it's nuclear which will cause high environmental impact all over the world......we Indian always get Nuclear threat from Pakistan who are holding the highest position in Pakistan like Home Minister and Army
      and tell me one incident of terrorist strike happened in POK (Pakistan Occupied Kashmir)?...there is none ...why only in Indian Administrated Kashmir.....and the 26/11 Mumbai attack was not even in Kashmir and others .....all terrorist groups are living in Pakistan and we have proof.....tell me one evidence that India support terrorist.......Terrorist attacks in Pakistan are only on Minorities like Christian and Hindus and also Shia Muslims which is a basic terrorist attacks of a Sunni like which happening in Iraq and Syria ......Taliban used to funded by Pakistan and now they are against it like keeping a baby lion as pet but when lion grow up the lion try to Eat the Master.....same is Happening with Pakistan and blame India for that and give no Evidence of any kinds just words

      I don't think that when it comes to those issues, any of those countries will be able to supply China or India!!! Besides, Brazil is by far the major agricultural supplier!!! And also... BRICS 5 years down the line just remains an acronym. To defeat the West, you need architects who develop required infrastructure that should be superior to the West. As at now BRICS is lacking both the architects and infrustructure to defeat the West.
