    Hawking Speaks... the Einstein of our time... if we don't listen then we're the ones who are going to be screwed. I think we should go farther, though. We need to begin seeding engineered life on other worlds to aggressively terraform them whenever possible. Of course that means we need to send more probes, more manned missions, and focus the majority of our efforts on FTL Space travel and other star trekkie stuff.

    @MrBS4 Not exactly. Think of a mag flashlight here.. When you turn the lens and focus the beam, it throughs far more intense light a much greater distance. When you turn the lens such that it's in floodlight mode, it throws light in a much wider area, but the light is far less intense after only a short distance. It this wasn't the case, there'd be no need for anything but floodlights.

    We must be able to take care of our own home-world and learn to co-operate in a whole earth fashion where everyone learns they are part of a greater whole, a very important part. Then we may be allowed a spot in space. It may already be too late, that makes it urgent that each of us who know the truth about our place in space find a way to let others learn.

    @JaleelJohanson62
    I apologize for the offensive. :) Though the "invitation transmission" is uni-directional, and able to travel further, the probability of some one getting it is the same as our leak signal. Because the omni-directional signal will cover wider range, and works 24/7, it will be easier to track and locate the source and offset the short transmission range. About the stop broadcasting, I think it might do more harm than good, since it slowdown the propagation of our knowledge.

  • @JaleelJohanson62
    @JaleelJohanson62 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @MrBS4 The 'duh' was a little uncalled for and would be considered rude even if it came from someone who was truly smart. The transmissions we make with the expressed purpose of establishing contact are far more powerful and uni-directional. Our 'regular' transmissions by and large are far more omnidirectional in nature and would be harder to use to pinpoint our exact location. With TV today, I wouldn't mind if the 'regular' broadcasts were stopped too. LOL

    Stephen, What strength does the DNA of mankind possess in relation to the illusive beings in the parallel universes which may consist of light, gas, alien metal, anti-matter or great mental prowess? Any deteriorating flesh and bone creature of nominal strength and grey matter would be at the bottom of the food chain.

  • @FrankWest00

    In the end he says: "YOU HAVE MY SYMPATHIES" ???

  • @MrBS4
    @MrBS4 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    @JaleelJohanson62
    Yeah, but I think it all come down to the probability of hitting a civilized planet. And the different of probability between uni-direction transmission and omni-direction transmission is something to be confirm. I think we will find out when some one out there get the message. :)

    Well, logically speaking, it would be in humanity's best interest to spread out. Setting aside the problem of Earth able to meet the needs of an ever growing population, there are other issues. Any number of disasters could affect the Earth, so it'd be good to have a "backup" human population elsewhere to continue propagating the species.
    Although, admittedly, the way humans are now, I can't say I'd be too sorry to see us all go the way of the dinosaurs.

    @Tweekerhead As I said, I respect all for their contributions but what is applicable on a certain level is not applicabe on another, because other forces predominate. On a bigger scale (cosmos), gravity relaxes its' hold and the power of electricity takes over. All is valid but they have their parameters.. The laws of gravity are not made invalid, but they are no longer applicable because objects become separated by huge distances.

    Mr. Hawking: You imply that you know everything, but in reality you don't, for otherwise you would have known how to heal yourself. You cannot say there is no afterlife since you have not died yet . The idea of humanity expanding into space is ridiculous, for we are in space already, and all we have to do is for humanity to behave in better human ways.As for the existence of God, you and I and the cosmos are God and we are, have always been and will always be present everywhere. You know what IQ is right? It measures how "smart" you are in a objective way.
    That by itself disproves the notion that you can be smart in specific things and not so smart in another things.
    You might not be so experienced in some subjects, but that has nothing to do with how "smart" the brain can be, instead it is related where you spend your time.
    No one is smart at math, instead you can say that people with a certain IQ may be able to dedicate more time to it and therefore learn it faster.

    @Tweekerhead In the bigger scheme of things, the universe is run by electric forces, not gravity. Gravity has its applications and its' limitations. The 'electric plasma' universe is it. Cosmology is heading down the wrong road at breakneck speed. I have always directed people to the website thunderboltsDOTinfo and you will see it makes for a more sensible universe than the one presently espoused by modern cosmologists. It is not much I offer but you will be much better off with this pointer.

The universe is in a state of accelerating expansion, driven by an unknown force; which is a proven fact - Hubble Law (keyword LAW). Electromagnetic forces do not have any power at this level, it's the complete opposite. Gravity doesn't have a "grip" on anything either, as you obviously don't know Gen relativity.
