    Love the analogy on Siblings where emotions must be unconditional in leadership. Some misunderstanding must not close the relationship and must be towards overall wishing for the person's success at all times. The element on consistency is mandatory like in all things in leadership too.

    I just started leading young kids. That was encouraging to hear because my natural personality is not being a leader, but it was something my daughter volunteered me for. Giving up on her and the kids is not something I want to do to them but hopefully that leadership personality in me may grow over time!!! Real encouraging message!!!!

    It’s about consistency that is a symptom. It is also not about those little things like bringing a drink for her from the fridge without her asking, that is Also a symptom. It is what he said towards the beginning: it is that ‘If you BELIEVE that there is something there’. THAT’s the magic part.
    Invest in what you Actually Believe in. The rest is automatic.

    The problem is people management skill is not valued as core competency in organisations. Companies look for "use" of management as driving force to get the job done for obvious reasons and that causes managers to focus of technical and business aspects more than people aspects. It's a shame that so much literature is available about human capital but it's little used in practice.

    This is an EXCELLENT speech. But it's not what leadership is. This speech is more centered on likability and achievement by being consistent. The essence of leadership is moving people towards something...a vision, a goal. So, to me, a definition of leadership must start with instilling a vision...a sense of purpose that inspires others to move in the direction you desire. Leadership also means helping (serving) those same people to achieve the goal by supporting them with resources, communicating clearly, honestly, and inspirationally, and supporting them in pursuit of THEIR goals as well. Great leaders possess these and other qualities, as well as the ones that Simon mentioned. Again, this is a great speech, but it's not "leadership" explained.

  • @carmelpule6954
    @carmelpule6954 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The world will be at peace when everyone realizes that there is no need for leaders, as everyone can lead himself or herself.
    Those who say that they are leaders and inspirational speakers are doing it to exploit others, in one way or another. No one should lead.
    Please do not walk in front of me,
    I may not be able to follow you,
    Please do not walk behind me,
    I may not be able to lead,
    Please, just walk beside me
    and be my friend.

    • @carmelpule6954
      @carmelpule6954 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @GeorgiK. Irl There is no human life without the value of the individual. The sovereignty of the individual family seems to create a more peaceful system than to create a few steep anarchies with a few at the top and many poor people at the bottom as in the case of communism and socialism and all religions and evangelisms where these will have a tendency to seek victory and power just for the sake of power and we have seen many mad rich people through the past as Napoleon, Hitler, Saddam, Gaddafi, Donald Trump, and it seems that putting a uniform on any idiot who seeks power does affect his mind to exploit others.
      The countries that respected individual sovereignty of the natural family tend to be peaceful, stable wealth-generating, and most successful societies. Those countries which need leaders generally finish with creating a higher anarchy which will always go to war including the levels of the underground and mafia levels with extortions of individuals, The set up of higher anarchies which will compete with each other, is a good subject to read about. There is no harm in seeking a utopia to respect individual sovereignty, rather than create religions and philosophies which will create rich leaders like Donald Trump and other entertainers as seems to be the tendency in modern politics with the system used to elect their leaders. The majority vote is not the best manner to elect leaders as we have seen in most countries. The best proposition is to aim at an education that results in individual family sovereignty.

    Managers will watch this video and decide to tell their employees that they're family, but still deny wage increases and fire people for the smallest things, all while giving their selves larger bonuses. Employees don't want to hear that they're considered family at work because no employee truly believes they're family simply because you tell them they are. They'll believe they're cared about through your own actions towards them. How you treat them on a behavioral level, a respect level, and what you do for them. They don't want a gift bag with a cheap mug with the company logo on it, or a company t-shirt. Those don't make employees feel valued or as if they're a part of the team. It takes much more than that.

    Looking in the mirror in the gym, you do not see nothing, you see yourself. You see who you want to maybe fix, break down and then build up. You see who you are with the mentality of who you want to be, You see the past, present and mental posibility of the future. Leadership is the same. You see youreself as them, a follower, as who they want to see in a leader. Then you gain the confidence in what they want and most importantly need. Then you step up, and realize, they see this, you see this, your higher ups see this. Leadership has no correlation to love. Because love in it of itself is equality in eachother intimately. where as leadership is equality in eachother as a team for a job, but you are a littler bit more. So their idea is in itself the same but not at the same time. It is complicated. There is no family. Only people whom are in a brigade. A union. A fight for who we are and what we want to work for. Beliefs mean nothing. Who we want to be mean nothing. Who we are meant to be mean nothing when its personal. But when unified it means the world. Things are taken out of context and things are meant to be greater. But sometimes things are meant to be left simple. A leader should never ask for it, thos who ask for leadership are the wrong fit. Those who do without thinking that of which would be done by a leader without the expectation of becoming one let alone wanting to become one should be. Power is meant for those who do not desire it, for they are the ones who think for the people for they think for the commong man, those who seek and perviate the idea of leadership should not, for they only wish for their own gain, whether it be for money, ego, or status. This is where we should realize politics is much alike in this concept. Not many think whether voluntary or not and its this same ideology on either spectrum we should base how leadership works.
