What MIUI firmware version are you using in this 6GB variant? V9.2.4.0 or V9.2.5.0 ?
I also have 6GB variant with lot less apps installed and no matter what I do.. I only have 3.2-3.7 GB available RAM for apps. My firmware version is v9.2.4.0. So in your case (4.2GB available) is it because of MIUI v9.2.5.0 update?

Bro... I have a note 6 gb version.... Running miui 9.5.14.....and i am not getting that great ram management in my device as compared to yours.... As you have 30 plus apps opened in the device..... But my apps are limited to 10 to 15 max.... And that too... I only have a single game in my phone that is PUBG MOBILE....and after sometime it restarts.... Please tell me how to get better results

you should have done changing memory optimisation settings in developer settings... in 4gb ram version change memory optimisation to low and check how many apps are there in memory ....
All apps are in memory but the limit of display apps in memory is only 20 but ( AT THE BACK ALL APPS WILL BE DISPLAYED ONLY IF YOU REMOVE LATEST APPS)

Some Miui8/9 device tends to force closing app. Shut the notifications , this is realy annoying parts of xiaomi
I dont care about the ram because i have a habit of closing the app from recent apps after im done using the app and i always do that , that sometimes i accidentally open it even if theres no apps open
Can you do a memory bandwidth test with SD Bench or similar app, please ? I don't think 6GB variant is as fast as 4GB one as far as memory speed(not quantity) is concerned, simply because both phone have dual channel LPDDR4 memory configuration and LPDDR4 doesn't come at 2 x 3GB dual channel configuration which is required for optimum speed. While 4 GB can be configured by using 2 x 4GB ICs. I am guessing Xiaomi has used 2 GB + 4 GB setup which is not the best case for speed at all. I am saying because in your video I have perceived faster load times on 4GB varinat (obviously when both are not out of memory), could be due to placebo effect I don't know. But please if possible do a memory bandwidth test on SD Bench for both models. Nice video !

Anybody with any kind curiosity is bound to wonder if one really needs 6gb ram in a phone or if 4gigs is enough for any same person. this video is to prove that even tho there is a difference , it can only be seen when someone's actually looking out for it and cannot be noticed in day to day usage. Ofcourse, things may change in the future when we need 6gigs for apps.
With today's apps you won't outlast 4GB of RAM unless you do extensive multitasking. If apps became that taxing, your SOC would need an upgrade first.
