+PAmining i have a quick question it may be stupid but how dose the bucket on that machine open. i don't see any rams connected to it and it dosen't seem to to have a solid connection with the main dipper.
Justin You don't make many videos now but when you make one you make a great one. What a great showing of this mighty machine Justin and you did it justice thanks for your great video
Thanks for the video. It amazes me how much it takes to make this machine run but it has one very basic function, to dig. What where the 2 things hanging down on either side behind the boom? I have seen those things on other machines but have no idea what they are used for.
+Mariusdubose That depends on the mine and what kind of production targets the job has. This machine runs on a 24/7 schedule with a single 8 hour inspection day once a week
thanks for all details we can see the positions of the some hidraulics pipes so i think the CAT have more perfection in every detail is my opinion nice vedeo mate
The original Cat 5000 serious was a pretty sloppy layout, IMO. The new Cats are laid out nice, but that's also because their O&K design. Komatsu defiantly has a more operator friendly layout. Thanks!
It's a shame I can not work with a machine of these dimensions. Here in Norway there are very few. thanks mate for put this great vedeo and explain cheers
Good video. Everybody buys out everybody so fast I can't keep up. Komatsu and Demag. Cat and O&K. Oh well. it's their money. I just run them. Was that conveyor support rollers squawking in the background? Sounded like it.
+Lewie McNeely Yep the two best German excavator manufactures purchased by the two biggest equipment competitors! And no that would be a rotary blast drill
Enjoyed the documentary throughout. One of your best, in my humble opinion, so far. Bravo!
+NeAZ Well thank you! Always happy to hear when fans enjoy my videos!

They're inside the bucket. The one on the left can be clearly seen at the 2:13 minutes mark.
That machine is just incredible.
Simply the best, none opinionated, fact based, informative, most enjoying Heavy Equipment related channel on You-Tube. You do a great job Justin .
+Low Budget Scale Modeling. Well thank you that means a lot! I do take pride in my work haha. Glad you enjoyed it!
Justin You don't make many videos now but when you make one you make a great one.
What a great showing of this mighty machine Justin and you did it justice thanks for your great video
I love that elevator!
+bert26a Me too. I sound a lot like that thing coming back down the first thing in the morning.
man, you have so much knowledge on all these machines
What a monster of a shovel, Great vid!
You're Great at doing Documentaries.
+Peprita Heart Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video
Great video, typical komatsu....leaking out of every fitting it has.
Great video. Hate to think what a new machine would run. Thanks for sharing the vid and the knowledge.
Great job on a big machine. Enjoyed it very much!
3:36 i’m surprise there’s no metal covers over the motors and hoses
Excellent job. Love learning about the great machines. Keep it up.
Another awesome video! love your videos and love your channel always learning something new! cant wait for the next one :)!
+Ajay Henderson Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!
excellent video, well made and informative.
Only thing missing from the cab is a toilet and you could live in it
Very informative.
Thank you.
Mighty machine!

+lidsman2221 Those are plastic cones. The purpose of them is so truck drivers can have a visual to help back and line up under the shovel bucket.
Oh very cool. I never would have guessed that. Thanks for the info.
were in pa do you film.enjoy alot
All across the state of PA
beautiful machine
Good video. What are those weights hanging beside the bucket cylinders? Pendulums, or is it to help with positioning the bucket over a truck?
+jix177 Those are plastic cones that are used to help truck drivers line up underneath the shovel. Thanks.
I'd love to see the big 655 at ekati....I guess it's still there
Justin, what are those baton looking things hanging off the bucket cylinders?
+mojostevo Those are plastic cones. The purpose of them is so truck drivers can have a visual to help back and line up under the shovel bucket.
for a 9 year old machine she looks good feet a bit wet but what else can u expect . and again loving the videos keep safe and thanks
Great video's where are they from in PA I'm from Indiana county PA ......?
Kewl video! One question tho...how often are these units down for? For example..are they run 24 hours a day or just in shifts?
+Mariusdubose That depends on the mine and what kind of production targets the job has. This machine runs on a 24/7 schedule with a single 8 hour inspection day once a week
Thanks for responding.
You would think they would put guarding around the track motors. At the cost the machine I would expect that Even poclain does that.
wow that thing is big, can you give me a size comparison? the biggest thing I've ever been on is a marion 1800? dragline?I think that's the model?
Dam fine job as allways justin she's dam sure a beast!
+CAT POWER (ALLDAY) Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!
SO AGGRESSIVE WITH THE DOOR HANDLES HAHAHA! GREAT VIDEOS KEEP THEM COMING
Nice video. How many hours?
you're videos are wonderful !they are nice and very interesting (please excuse me for my poor english
+Christophe Roupioz Glad you enjoyed it and found it interesting! Thanks.
whats all the little metal pieces welded to the bucket for?
+Garrett Edwards Those are for additional wear plating on the clam
i kinda figured but i wasnt sure
great video send more
What state do you find most of the abandoned pieces of equipment in? Also, how do you find them?
+Ian davis The majority of all my filming work is in Pennsylvania. However I do film in Ohio and West Virginia.
+PAmining how do you find the pieces?
+Ian davis Just by visiting lots of different operations and researching/locating equipment
I like how after spending millions on this machine you get a heated seat but you get basic switches and gauges you see in equipment from the 70's haha
Good video

I didn't quite understand the intro. Has this series been upgraded since 2006?
+Phil Burdine I'm not sure what you didn't understand, but yes the 5500 Series has been upgraded since 2006
Is there a full time engineer on these bigger hydraulic machines or does the operator take care of the minor stuff?
No, mine maintenance usually does not have an engineer on staff. Just mechanics
cool. love your videos
Ah HAH! The guys that did our drilling had Furakawa drills and they were more of a ziz than a squawk.
those man baskets can be feel kinda funny if your not used to it
Do you work in the mining industry? I was just wondering how you get access to all the awesome equipment. Keep up the videos, love watching them.
+RMosher11 Yes, I am a mine engineer by trade. Glad you enjoy the videos!
I've seen that one
Dusseldorf
2500hp...
Tough looking bugger.....
you gotta get a gopro camera and put it on your head when operating some of the machines in the mine.
