She's a monster! We have 3 of them here at a mine i haul fuel into in IDAHO USA! And I have been an operator as well as trucking and to watch one of these load a train car with material is like a kid with a new bike!! For me lol!! Your vids are great!! Amigo Ty for all your hard work and knowledge of all the machines I love!!
I work in a welding shop in Edmonton Alberta and we just finished a 21 yard bucket for one of these beasts, biggest bucket I've worked on to date, gave me a little perspective to the sheer size of these massive machines.
Great video I've always been interested in heavy equipment ever since childhood. Thanks for taking time to capture footage of this equipment to share with others.
Outstanding as usual.....I still think you should consider approaching the Discovery channel with an idea centered around what you have here and in your archives. Ever considered setting up the camera so respected viewers can see you go over the tech info?
Great video. Would like to see this beast working. The power compartment you said can be lifted out in one piece. Is this a new concept and is it a good idea. Does it benfit the owner to buy into the idea? The quality of your videos have improved. Thanks for taking the time to put quality onto your productions. Well done my friend.
Lynd Gemberling Search my Channel, I have a video of this machine loading trucks. The power module idea on big machines has been around for decades now, however it made it's first appearance on the 13-15yd class machines that were converted over from a twin engine design in the early to mid-2000s. Power modules existed on the older twin engine machines, but you can imagine how large and clunky they were to transport. Hitachi was the first, replacing the EX1800-3 with the EX1900-5 which featured a single engine power module. Komatsu followed in 2007 with it's PC2000-8. Now Caterpillar has come out with the 6020 which resembles both of these machines with its ease of maintenance design. Thank your for your comment! I do realize I have come a long way with my videos, and I still enjoy producing them for my fans!
Hey PAmining...I have maybe a silly question...I've always wanted to know why...but never asked when I was working with excavators...especially big ones like this...question is, why are the boom cylinders hung upside down, well cane either way but to me they are upside down lol...
Bubbles Samsquanch Sure, the controls are the same, but this is a totally different animal than an EX120. Running a machine is one thing, anyone can run something. To be a good smooth operator of one of this big machines takes skill.
Hi, As usual, very interesting and understandable*, as your other documentaries ! Thanks for sharing ! *[as you know, French people doesn't have a good English level :-)]
beautiful machine. was wondering, do you guys have any RH400's over there? i operated one briefly when my school had a thing going where we'd have to spend a week in a job related to the profession we were going for. and i got a spot in an iron mine. got to operate an RH400 front shovel, a Cat 785, and a Cat 992k. would love to see you do a documentary on one of those shovels, if there's one nearby.
Thanks for publishing this walk around, PAmining!
+HitachiConstruction Glad to see the guys at Hitachi enjoy it! Thank you!
These walkaround videos are great! Thanks PAmining!
Your welcome, glad you enjoy them!
Nice documentary, as always Justin, very informative, thanks for sharing.

Oh yeah. Especially seeing a bucket for one inside a welding shop gives a real good indication of their size.
The bucket looks small in comparison to the huge size of the machine.
Great video I've always been interested in heavy equipment ever since childhood. Thanks for taking time to capture footage of this equipment to share with others.
Jason Rowell Thanks, glad you enjoyed it!

These videos are too good, informative and drama-free for the discovery channel.
Impressive machine and nice lesson & catch! :-)
Great video! I've been waiting for this one :-)
Can't wait to see what you'll have coming our way next! ;-)
JenkY 13 Thanks; glad you enjoyed it! You know me, I always have something new to show!
So happy to see a new documentry vid from you!! I learned alot from your vids, and always enjoyed watching your channel!
Ajay Henderson Glad you enjoyed it and that you learned a lot! That's what my videos are for! Thanks!
I’ve always wanted to run one of those heavy duty hydraulic shovels.I’ve run a cat 312 and 315 excavators.
A great looking machine!
excellent video as always, nice nearly new machine as well, shame the cab was locked though.
Big machine, almost need to fly a drone around it to cover all of it. thanks for posting.
I got to climb up one of these at one of the oil sands operations recently, wish I had an opportunity to run it.

Awesome. As always loved it.
Perhaps you would think of getting a pop filter or something to cut out the wind noise someday?
appu jacob I've already made custom wind muffs for both my cameras. This video was shot before I ever did that. Thanks!
Great job, always enjoy your vids, I wish I/d chosen to be a heavy equipment operator...
I've been waiting 2 years for this documentary. thx for the excellent video
DopedUpManiacs Two years of waiting? I didn't know I had fans waiting for my releases that long haha. That would be when I filmed it. Thanks!
great video :)
Are you going to mine expo in Vegas next September? Thanks for the video!
lidsman2221 Yes sir, I'll be there! Thanks!

That is to prevent rock dust built-up on the seals. I will be doing a short to discuss this as it's a very popular question! Thanks!
How many hours of operation does one tank of fuel provide?
So since I run a little Hitachi ex120 could I run one of these machines because they are the same controls?
Bubbles Samsquanch Sure, the controls are the same, but this is a totally different animal than an EX120. Running a machine is one thing, anyone can run something. To be a good smooth operator of one of this big machines takes skill.
PAmining hahaha yea i assume i was just wondering if it was the same basic controls,concepts...
Generally speaking, what's the typical path for someone who operates those types of machines...ie education, training...etc?
Thanks!
Is that a 5130 cat i see? 1:21
Brandon Murphy Good eye! That's actually a 5230 you see in the background.
air filters 2013? old filters or old video.
memyselfand ifarmer The date on those air cleaners would be close to the date of I shot this video
please what are the weights of both front shovel and back hoe configurations
hermann joel I stated the weights at the end of the video. 212 U.S. tons as a backhoe and 211 U.S. tons as a front shovel

Alex Williamson'sadventures I'm sure you will see the 6020B on my Channel in the future
Does it have a thumb? Lol!
beautiful machine.

Midas Imperius There are no RH400's in the U.S that I am aware of. I believe all the ones operating in North America are in Canada
