This! Gives me shivers to think back to some of the incredibly dangerous situations I put my self in. Iv hopped in cars with strangers and gone to parties miles from home, I once left a rave with a couple of drug dealers and went back with them, area I didn't know, didn't tell any one, hostage squad showed up 4 days later after the police tracked us from the club, I was 17. I was very lucky that in all instances I was treated with nothing but respect and kindness but could have been so different. I pray my children have more sense than I did back then. Terrifies me

As someone who partied a lot in my younger years, here is my two cents. Some ppl get very violent and aggressive when intoxicated. After a few drinks, the slightest thing will set them off. Its like Jerkyl and Hyde thing. The victim just ran into one of those guys. And the perps sh itty friends helped him cover it up. I have seen some of those types (men and womem) in my day and it can be a jaring experience. One minute you are having a good time, another minute they are picking a fight with the bartender, the bouncer or anyone. Thats why i dont hang out socially with ppl i dont know. And i avoid anyone who gets aggressive when drinking and try to exclude them from my social circles. Such ppl once drinking are a ticking time bombs. If it wasnt this poor guy, that dude would have eventually killed someone else intoxicated.

Since the jeweler might have been gay I thought that could be a possibility. However as this story wound on I slid more toward the belief that it was a way to cover up a relationship of a very different sort. I’m not sure that had any bearing on what happened to Joey other than the fact that these young men had way too much money and time on their hands and Joey was a little star struck by the invitation. Someone under the influence can definitely turn into a rage monster and instead of taking Joey to the hospital for injuries and going to jail for assault (and drugs) they made a horrible situation even worse. Usually in these types of programs the victim's qualities are highly praised and that is fine but here we have a young man who is deeply loved by so many people and especially by his exceptional father that it is hard to restrain a tear, even for an old cynic like me. A beautiful spirit who met low life when he least expected it. Surely the fight that occurred would have happened without low life but it would not have ended in death. Thanks to 48 Hours and its staff for a very well produced piece of work

Lesson to be learned here: This is why you don’t go off without your phone and while intoxicated with strangers to do drugs and for the possibility of sex with other women with dark features while you and your girlfriend are having a disagreement 🤦🏾‍♀️

@@Dermatillomaniacyou mean outlining the facts of the case is victim blaming? You really need to experience the real world. Truth isn’t always wrapped up in a pretty bow or what sounds sweet to your ears. Get real, hard headed people never want to hear the truth until it happens to them

It’s victim blaming and thousands of women are blamed for their own rapes every year. I really hope this comment doesn’t come back to haunt you because as women we are especially vulnerable to being assaulted and blamed…… think about….. they even blamed Hollywood starlets……they’ll blame you and as you’re very likely to know your perpetrator. I urge you to stay safe and not to victim blame people. Everyone makes minor mistakes and none of what Joey did was equal to the death penalty, so he doesn’t deserve it at all.
