    Rock women of the 70’s were exceptional artists that didn’t place the emphasis on looks entirely. They were looking for acceptance as equal musicians (and many were better than men.) These were two of them…🎸👩LONG LIVE HEART!

      Stop it! Men are better than women at almost everything! Heart gained success because they were the only women rock musicians who had talent and vocals!

    "Crazy On You",
    "Magic Man",
    "Straight On"
    "Even it Up" &
    "Dreamboat Annie".
    Of course there's much more from the talented and beautiful Wilson sisters, but personally I'm a much bigger 70's Heart fan than 80's. I like my 80's music, but tend to hate great 70's bands that went pop in the 80's ( hello, Chicago!)

    Heart was one of the bands at my first concert; Cal Jam 2 - 1978. I was 15yrs9mos and was there for more than 24 hrs. Had to hitch-hike from Ontario to San Bernardino after 1am (or when Aerosmith was done). Luckily, someone leaving the concert heard me shouting; "anyone going to San Bernardino?" And they happened to live just a few blocks from me.

    • @buckysnodgrass9252
      @buckysnodgrass9252 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Nancy is great but that isn't her riff and she isn't playing any electric guitar on this track. She's playing acoustic throughout the entire track. Back when Barracuda was written Heart was a true band, and Nancy was one notch up from the bassist in importance. She gets credit now as if all of their albums were Ann singing and Nancy playing all the guitar parts but when Barracuda was written Nancy only plays acoustic which isn't even really needed in the song. She's basically playing along so she'd have something to do. Back in those days all the members, men and women, were equal and quite honestly Nancy was probably the most expendable of them all. She didn't really start playing any electric guitar until after Roger Fisher left during the Bebe Le Strange sessions.

    • @buckysnodgrass9252
      @buckysnodgrass9252 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mikelundquist4596 I'd say she's one of the best acoustic guitarists in rock music, but I agree as an overall guitarist she's fine but not one of the best ever. Nancy is actually a virtuoso on acoustic, but that's far different than saying she's one of the best overall guitar players of all time like Eddie Van Halen.

      @@mikelundquist4596 Thank you. Reality check.

    • @GoogleEqualsEvil
      @GoogleEqualsEvil ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@mikelundquist4596 Exactly. Not to be mean, but in regard to playing guitar (NOT songwriting or performing) on a scale of 1-10 with 1 being an absolute beginner and 10 being a virtuoso, Nancy is a 3 at best. She can strum a few folk and barre chords in time with the rest of the band and finger pick simple melodies, but that's it. That includes both electric and acoustic guitar. Claiming she is a great acoustic guitarist is just as ridiculous as claiming she is a great electric guitarist. She couldn't play even 4 bars of any classical guitar (acoustic) song, or any neo-classical (electric) song or any jazz standard or even country. Hell, Chet Atkins makes her look like a "1" on acoustic guitar!

    Hello, my favourite baby girl! 😊🥰 This is the real Heart - Ann and Nancy Wilson playing together with the original guys. ♥
    While I was in high school, we would have dance nights and hire live bands to play for us. At the time there was a long list of great local bands with so many places to play. Heart was one of our bands, playing at least one dance night for us. They also played a lot of shows all over the city. I saw them so often, they began to recognise me at their shows. When they got famous, I wasn't at all surprised as they were so incredibly good even before the hits. The last time I saw them was in August of 1978, when they were the last band playing at an all day outdoor concert. The stars were bright, the ocean gave us a cool breeze to wash away the heat of the Summer day, and the lights on the mountains across the inlet were right behind the stage. I stood in the third row of a crowd of more than 30,000 people and, even from there, I got a nod and smile from Ann and Nancy.
    The original Heart played a mix of their own music, mixed with lots of great covers. They had a very heavy Led Zeppelin feel to their sound, often adding a Folk/Gypsy style that made their music unique. In the early days, Ann also played flute as well as sang lead. ♥
    Take care and stay safe, my friend. Good luck in your new apartment!

      @@MorenikejiTaiwo Thank you, dear Morenikeji. Like many others who comment here, I grew up in a blessed time for great music. Live shows were relatively cheap - usually less than $10 for a full show, plus another band to open for the main act. I've seen hundreds of concerts of so many of the greatest bands in modern music history. Concert tickets now are often in the astonishing $400 range!
      Take care and stay safe, my favourite baby girl. Peace, always. ♥

    • @rwcoving
      @rwcoving ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They've always been primarily hard rock but in the 80s and 90s their record company tended to release lighter songs as singles.

    • @Chiari_Queen_T
      @Chiari_Queen_T ปีที่แล้ว

      @rwcoving It's not because of their record label! They wouldn't stand to do anything they don't want to. They have been down that road already! He'll, this song is actually about that! By the 80's, they were so established and earned the right to have creative control over their music by then. They decided to do something different. I don't know if it was an artistic choice or a cash grab, but they went 80's pop like many great 70's bands did. Many people loved it. I'm not a fan, but it did make them lots of money, so I'm sure they haven't lost any sleep over my opinion.

    • @JavierParede
      @JavierParede ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Chiari_Queen_T Yes it was their record company who required them to use outside writers and record more pop oriented music for their late 80s and early 90s records. Ann talks all the time about the "devil's bargain" they made in order to have hits.

    • @rwcoving
      @rwcoving ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Chiari_Queen_T It sure was. Capitol Records was the one releasing all those power ballads as singles and making them record Mutt Lange material. It wasn't the Wilsons or their bandmates making decisions to release four power ballads in a row off Brigade while ignoring all the heavy material. If it weren't for album rock stations everyone would have thought Brigade was a ballad album.

    • @buckysnodgrass9252
      @buckysnodgrass9252 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Chiari_Queen_T You need to go read their book. The head of Capital told them he would only sign them if they agreed to use outside writers and a producer mutually selected by Capital. They didn't ask for Ron Nevison, he was forced on them because he knew how to create hits. The band didn't happily agree to put out albums with 70% of the material written by outside writers. Ann and Nancy both hated What About Love, so much so that Nancy got up and stormed out of the room when the demo was played for them. Ann said if she was going to have to record it she only got through it by imagining the song being defiant instead of what the wimpy lyrics suggest. They had next to zero creative control on any of the Capital albums except for Desire Walks On, and even that one had a song forced on them by Capital -- "Will You Be There In the Morning"" was written by Mutt Lange and Ann to this day says it's a terrible song and she didn't want it on the album.

    I love Heart, and if you like Heart too, check out the first major label all female rock band. Just a crazy good band, F'n killer piano, slide and guitar, bad ass bass, and superb drums. They were super talented group, played with all the major male acts at the time, F'n great band. "Fanny" is the name, if you like chicks that truly rock and roll, Fanny was key in the door, they rocked their asses off. We're talking early seventies here, I discovered them like three years ago, blew my mind, where have these chicks been, how come no one knows them, they're the real deal. And that's back when you played it was ALL live, no fakery, just real. PS, if you look, find the "blue background live session" It's easy to find, its just them in a studio performing in front of a glowing blue background, classic 70,s look. They also play a bonus by the Beatles called "Hey Bullfrog" ...wait scratch that, I think it's called Hey Bulldog, oh well, no one's perfect. I promise that song will tickle your fancy unless you've had it removed.

    I've played music since grade school, retired now. Heart is performing without all the modern technical enhancements. They worked there whole life perfecting there sound, music. Today you can have someone with no musical history, they use voice enhancers (because that can't sing), Instrument enhancers that clean up your playing. There a very few true sound musical bands that don't need all the electronics to make good music. Everything today is lip sink because the performers can't do it live, such great talent.

    The "Stairway to Heaven" Tribute ONLY used Heart's Singer (Ann Wilson) and guitarist (Nancy Wilson). The other band members were other people brought in AND the son of the original Led Zeppelin drummer on drums.

    The Massive Attack song 'Teardrop' (that I keep asking you to react to...) was written after Jeff Buckley drowned.
