This is a 70's favorite of mine. Saw them many times in the 70's & 80's. My son took me to see them in 2019 for my birthday at The Hollywood Bowl in LA. They still rock after all these years. You need to see them perform Stairway to Heaven at the Kenndey Center Honors 2012 in front of Led Zeppelin honoring them. You will not be disappointed.

They were formed in Vancouver BC in the early 1970s. They lied and claimed they were Canadians because Mike Fisher moved to Canada to avoid the draft. Ann loved Mike and moved up there too. Mike's brother Roger was the lead guitarist and Nancy joined the band later and he and Nancy became lovers. They played in high schools in the greater Vancouver, BC area while they were starting out and recorded their first songs in Vancouver. By the time they were going down to Seattle from Canada they were already famous and playing to much bigger audiences than high schools.

The Sisters joined the band in Canada where they recorded their first album and got radio play and their first big concert in Montreal where the audience new all the words to their songs. Later, Heart would build their own studio in Seattle and supported the Grunge Movement and Garage bands like Nirvana.

Heart ❤ are big Zeppelin fans. The thundering guitar riff was inspired by The Immigrant Song. Give Immigrant another listen and you'll hear the similarities.
Oh yeah, there were not very many female rock stars that got big at that time, but the ones that did made up for it by getting REALLY big. There was Hart, Fleetwood mack, The Pretenders all who had a female lead singer. Women who kicked butt in a decidedly male dominated industry. They proved themselves as good or better than their male peers. If you haven't already, Rhiannon by Fleetwood Mack is an amazing song that boarders on haunting.
**EDIT** never mind, I see that you already did that one. How about reacting to 'Under a violet Moon' by Blackmores' Night instead. Blackmores night is a group with Candas Night and former lead guitarist from Deep Purple Ritchie Blackmore. The two met at a Renascence fair and started dating. Then they decided to start a band that is basically a medieval music/rock hybrid.
These chicks are friggin badass rockers. Highly underrated.

A personal favourite of mine is Shemekia Copeland and she has a fairly new song out called "Clotilda's On Fire" about the infamous slave ship Clotilda. There was a segment on CBS "60 Minutes" about the discovery of her wreckage in the Mobile river where she was scuttled to avoid capture. Whilst slavery itself was still legal in 1860, the direct importation of slaves from Africa had been illegal in the United States of America since 1808.

That's two different women singing/playing guitar. The dark haired singer's name is Anne Wilson. The BLOND guitarist's name is Nancy Wilson. Yup, they're sisters. I believe this was only their second album, so it wasn't something they had heard a thousand times.
