Thanks for explaining the new alerts! I'm planning on switching to the G7 eventually. It's a bit hard for me though, to be honest.... Is the overpatch needed? I noticed that the surrounding patch seems smaller than the G6 but I did not see you using the overpatch. Also, please comment again after you know more about the G7 losing signal with the app and does anyone know if it is the same if you use the receiver. I do use the receiver with my G6 because it is so small it fits in my pants pocket. Don't have to worry about keeping my phone around me all of the time. Thanks for asking this overpatch question. I’m currently evaluating the Libre3 and always use a skin prep and have never had an issue with the sensor coming off my body. Hi.Did you say that the needle is not inserted in the arm when applying the sensor in it? I know some brands can make the user bleed when applying this sensor in the arm as the needle pricks them in that area. Thanks!
The needle quickly insets the sensor under the skin and then retracts back into the insertion device. So like the other CGMs it doesn’t stay in the arm
If you take it off you can't reattach it, you'll have to insert a new sensor. The range on Dexcom G7 isn't amazing. I think they're working on it, but signal loss seems to be a frequent issue
Does anyone know if you can load the app on two phones and sync one Dexcom G7 to both phones? I would like to keep up with my daughter's readings. Thanks for any input.
I don’t know if you can do that. It might be easier to just use Dexcom ‘s share function. Here’s how to set it up th-cam.com/video/3YMFNcpz_eM/w-d-xo.html
Just received my G7 including the reader. I understand Medicare requires the reader. but I got 20 days of G6 left. So plenty of time to study. Oh Mine came with over patches for the sensor.
I'm wondering about that price. What do you get. In the package? Before you would get 1 transmitter in a box and the sensor would come in a box of 3. So how dose it come now.
There is one sensor in one box. If you have insurance they usually cover your CGM on a monthly basis. So for me, it actually gets cheaper as I was paying a monthly copay for the sensor plus a monthly copay for the transmitter. Now I only pay only monthly copay for the combined sensor and transmitter product. If you're buying Dexcom G7 cash you can get it for about $170/month with the Dexcom savings card
Question: I have Freestyle Libre 2. What is the little electrical outlet plug for? Am I supposed to plug the monitor into the wall outlet to keep it charged? I can't find any information on what I'm supposed to use the plug for.
Husband went from First Alert to Dexcom G6 to the G7. G6 many issues with lost signal and we have determined our issue with loss signal is due to his bluetooth hearing aids. I follow his readings on the transmitter and have little to no issues, but his app on his phone seems to lose signal at least 4-5x's day. The setting indicate no bluetooth but the Support Help group has said to disregard??? We have followed all the suggestions but still have issues with the app vs the transmitter
That's so frustrating. Maybe he should try a Freestyle Libre. Start by requesting a free sample, that way he can try before he buys. I have a video on how to get the Libre here: th-cam.com/users/shortsJo5z6e_LMdA?si=CmGAe8aMSDmMdTO4
What do you suggest I use if I have the G7 and swim or use a float room for an hour? Do any of the patches NOT remove the device when you take it off? Thank you.
I haven’t tested overlay tapes for that specific use. Maybe look into a sports band (I haven’t tried it but have seen a “fixation band” on Etsy www.etsy.com/listing/1433365581/)or sports tape, those might be easier to pry off
I've had my Dexcom G7 for about a week. I've found it to be as much as 35 points off (reads too high)from poking my finger and checking the old fashion way. Sometimes it's close, only 1 or 2 points off. Not sure what the problem is but it's going to have to be closer than 35 points for me to keep it.
I share why there might be differences between CGM and finger stick when it’s considered inaccurate and what you can do to fix it in this video: th-cam.com/video/yjeNSKDnxUY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=xg434GRAu1cLcxsl
Do you find that side button hard to press and take time to insert the sensor? I find it hard. Also one of my sensors just stopped syncing. When it works it's great. I still prefer Dexcom over Libre3
I know you have a video that talks about how to control the spikes and lows...do you happen to have any quick advice on the diet (breakfast, lunch and dinner and snacks) that can get me to a steady reading throughout the day/night?
@@electrology I think it mainly comes down to understanding how much insulin you need and dosing timing. Often I dose up to 45-min before my meal in the morning while I can be a bit laxer with timing later in the day
It’s a little annoying but G7 has only been approved for the arm for adults in the US. However, it’s worth noting that it has been approved for abdomen use as well outside the US. So yes, it will be considered off-label, but you’ll probably be okay. Your prescribing doctor might just tell you to stick with the abdomen

@@DiabetesStrong I'm debating whether to use these two "Extra" G6 sensors or go into the G7 in ten days... I just inserted my last G6 sensor, the two I have are replacements from Dexcom
Curious, do they say it's always just your stomach to insert? I always use my arm with the g6, so I am just curious because every video on the g7 I see is on the arm
Yes, it’s different from Dexcom G6. Dexcom G7 is approved for wear on the arm for adults, as they found people to have the best results there. As I interpret it, that doesn’t mean you can’t wear it other places (but would be off-label)
Big Question: Doesn't the big needle stay in the body the entire duration? With the Freestyle Libre 3, does that even bigger needle stay in the body the entire duration? Which leaves the worse scar/ most painful scar? Which is better for a T2 diabetic, who doesn't use medicine?
Been using a freestyle libre 3 since August. I think somehow the bigger needle you see before insertion just pushes in the smaller needle. When I take the Libre 3 off after 2 weeks, it's definitely a needle. No scar but slight irritation on skin from tape
The needle doesn't stay in the body, it inserts the small thin sensor. I did find that the Libre 3 sensor is larger than any of the Dexcom sensors and for me, that left a scar
@MT1987 freestyle libre is changed every 2 weeks. Dexcom G7 is 10 days but supposed to be going to 14 days in the future. As for insurance it depends on which insurance and if insulin dependent
I'm just starting off as a new T2 and I have the G7... but my experience in the past with subdermal/transdermal patches has been poor at best. How well is the adhesion aspect? Is there a better location than the back of the arm? I've always had issues with adhesion there.
My dr. put it on my stomach. I just hate it. I hope I will be able to insert it when it gets light again. I'm tired of this sound blaring all night long. I'm timing it now because they don't have anyone at night staying up while we are subject to their alarms all night long!
Dexcom G7 is FDA-cleared for the arm only and CE-marked for the arm and the stomach. So if you choose to wear it on the stomach it might be considered off-label depending on where you live. I've worn it on the stomach and really like that placement
Dear Diabetes Strong, HELP! What is the best patch for the DEXCOM G7? My Skin Grip G7 patches keep separating. This did not occur with the G6 overpatch which was great! Again, HELP!
Oh no. I haven’t tried any overlay tape with the G7 yet, so don’t have any other recommendations. You could try grabbing a sports tape at your local pharmacy and see if that does the trick
The last G7 sensor I installed wouldn't pair with my receiver and warning instructions said to install a new sensor (?). Not wanting to waste the sensor I tried re-entering the 4 digit code and happily that worked. Makes me wonder if you can restart 10 day old sensors the same way. Anyone try this?
It’s the same insertion process as when you start your first sensor so it should be covered in this video. Just skip the part where I talk about setting up the app. Or were you looking for something else?
Please, someone, if you know how I can buy Dexcom G7 from another country, Georgia. Link online shop, please 🙏 I really need it. And is it indeed true that only with prescription you can get it otherwise no.
Another great one by Christel Oerum. I have been using G6 and now I confirmed G7 companion app is available on my Pixel 7 Pro. But, CVS pharmacy told me G7 is not in stock now. Where did you get this from dear? I also live in the US (Texas) and wondering if this is widely available in CVS
Thanks. The first sensor I bought in Europe. I haven’t filled my G7 prescription in the US yet but the distribution I work with (US MED) has told me they’re fully stocked
I don't believe there's a grace period for Libre 3. If you are thinking of the start-up period, you don't get any readings during that initial hour and have to do finger sticks
If it covers Dexcom G6 there is a bridge program. It guarantees an $89 copay. I haven't tried it, but will since my insurance isn't covering the G7 yet
The adhesive seems to have changed. Now, when I take off my sensor, I need to shower and scrub the area vigorously. The sticker is very hard to remove from the skin of my lower bicep 💪. The sensor still does not tolerate swimming. I have given up pool volleyball because if I play for an hour, my sensor falls off. The difference is that now, lately, the adhesive won't come off with the sensor.
Just switched from g6 love it accept I can't get my boyfriend back on follow he has an iPhone we've tried everything it says safari states invalid address

I have recently run into problems actually inserting the G7. I unscrew the bottom, press it against the back of my arm and push the button. However, it will not insert. I called Dexcom Tech Support which was a joke because I got no help from them as to why my insertion button was NOT working. Tonight I went thru 4 new sensors and none of the buttons, when pressed, inserted my new G7. I am beyond frustrated and this has been a very disheartening evening. As it stands, I do not have a new sensor inserted. Can anyone help me and possibly let me know why the insertion buttons are not working for me? HELP!!!!!
Thank you for your response. It is just so disappointing that I lost 4 sensors last evening trying to get that button to deploy the new sensor in my arm. I finally have ended up calling Dexcom who very graciously have agreed to replace all four of the sensors I lost last night. Hoping this does not happen again!
The needle quickly insets the sensor and retracts it back into the insertion device. So it doesn't stay under the skin. All the CGMs get inserted with a needle, with some devices you just never see it
😕 that sucks. I’m on my third G7 and haven’t had issues with signal loss. But I did have that issue with the first sensor I tried. I wonder if some of the sensor batches are wonky…

Can you place the sensor on your belly? I have gotten some signal loss warnings on both arms and not sure why.
If you take it off you can't reattach it, you'll have to insert a new sensor. The range on Dexcom G7 isn't amazing. I think they're working on it, but signal loss seems to be a frequent issue
@@DiabetesStrong My G7 receiver functions within 20 feet.
My Dr. had his nurse put it on my stomach.
@DiabetesStrong IS THE INSERT PAINFUL?
I haven't felt any pain when inserting it. But if you hit a nerve it might hurt
Just received my G7 including the reader. I understand Medicare requires the reader. but I got 20 days of G6 left. So plenty of time to study. Oh Mine came with over patches for the sensor.
What is wrong if blood sugars are drastically different? New to Dexcom..Thanks
Check out my video on Dexcom inaccuracy and what you can do about it here: th-cam.com/video/ipKdnTeaOLM/w-d-xo.html
If you have a receiver, the charger is for that. Libre 2 also has an app that you can choose to use
So, no receiver is necessary? Just the sensor and the app is all I need?
Yes, you don't have to buy the receiver. But you should check if your phone is compatible with the G7
Maybe look into a sports band (I haven’t tried it but have seen a “fixation band” on Etsy www.etsy.com/listing/1433365581/)or sports tape, those might be easier to pry off
Hello, how to make sound signals?
Can you test the Libre Free Style. I am sure they will send you a test model.
I made reviews of both Libre 2 and 3 when they came out. You can find them here: th-cam.com/video/ij7cYJSp1Eg/w-d-xo.html
Great step by step instructions! Made my first application of the G7 so easy!
Great to hear!
Great Info. My G7 is on the way.
Do you find that side button hard to press and take time to insert the sensor? I find it hard. Also one of my sensors just stopped syncing. When it works it's great. I still prefer Dexcom over Libre3
Thank you for sharing. You definitely have to push it. I find it helps if you push the sensor harder to the skin
@@DiabetesStrong thank you. I make it work after a few tries but I think they can make that a bit better...
Often I dose up to 45-min before my meal in the morning while I can be a bit laxer with timing later in the day
@@DiabetesStrong thank you
Does it have to go on the arm? I wear my DexCom 6 on my stomach
My dr. put it on my stomach. If it were easier to attach, I might have liked it. It's blared at me all night because the white button won't push in!
Did you uninstall G6 app eventually or do you keep it ? Since moving to the G7 app
I still have both apps on my phone but it’s generally recommended to uninstall the G6 app
@@DiabetesStrong thanks for your reply if I could ask another question when I was on libera sensor and put on arm it was 50_80 points off since wearing g6 on my stomach found more accurate how does it do since you said you were wearing on stomach too.
@@bobrossi1185 I've found it to be very accurate on the stomach, and I have fewer compression lows. But try it out, you might find that it's different for you
@@DiabetesStrong thanks it has worked out great for G6 stomach so I keep going on stomach thanks for taking time to replying and your experiences.
My nurse transferred G6 over to G7 so they can monitor.
Thanks, I'm still waiting for my Insurance, the Pharmacy and my Dr to get ll their ducks in a row, so maybe a couple more weeks!! Still with the G6, I'm patient!!
🙌🏽
@@DiabetesStrong Well, my insurance is finally covering the G7, I got three months supply this week, but I still have three G6 sensors kicking around, so I will use those and move over to the G7 next month. I will be using your video for my first setup!! Thanks!!
@@yrsued awesome, happy to hear you finally got coverage
@@DiabetesStrong thanks. It ought to be interesting, but I want to wait for a link to my tslim.
@@scottdoerner1784 yes, I would wait as well if I had a connected pump. Fingers crossed they get that done quickly
My dr. put it on my stomach. He said it works and it did. Now if it was easy to put on.
So you use this with the Omnipod?
Omnipod 5 doesn’t communicate with Dexcom G7 yet
Do you HAVE to use the sticker? I hear mixed answers to this question.
You don’t have to. I don’t as they stick super well to my skin. But if sensors tend to peel and fall off I’d use it
Posso usar esse produto no Brasil?
These are the international Dexcom locations, unfortunately I don’t see Brazil on the list www.dexcom.com/global
"Smaller" needle after taking off
The needle doesn't stay in the body, it inserts the small thin sensor. I did find that the Libre 3 sensor is larger than any of the Dexcom sensors and for me, that left a scar
How often i need to change to a new one? And also is it cover by health insurance?
@MT1987 freestyle libre is changed every 2 weeks. Dexcom G7 is 10 days but supposed to be going to 14 days in the future. As for insurance it depends on which insurance and if insulin dependent
Hello, could you help me and send me a link to the app? I have Android. I can't find the app. Thank you.
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.dexcom.g7&pcampaignid=web_share
I'm just starting off as a new T2 and I have the G7... but my experience in the past with subdermal/transdermal patches has been poor at best.
How well is the adhesion aspect? Is there a better location than the back of the arm? I've always had issues with adhesion there.
I prefer to wear it on my stomach. I find it sticks as well as G6, but with the smaller surface area it’s easier to knock off
My dr. put it on my stomach. I just hate it. I hope I will be able to insert it when it gets light again. I'm tired of this sound blaring all night long. I'm timing it now because they don't have anyone at night staying up while we are subject to their alarms all night long!
Do I have to wear the patch on my arm. Can
I wear it on my stomach. I don’t want it to be seen
Dexcom G7 is FDA-cleared for the arm only and CE-marked for the arm and the stomach. So if you choose to wear it on the stomach it might be considered off-label depending on where you live. I've worn it on the stomach and really like that placement
My dr. put it on my stomach and it worked fine.
Restarting has not worked for me, but sounds like I have to try again
Thanks! You're a sweetheart! Very helpful
which one do you perfer dexcom g7 or libre 3
Dexcom, hands down. The only upside to Libre 3 is that it’s marginally smaller than Dexcom G7
Hello can you show how to setup the next sensor the best way
It’s the same insertion process as when you start your first sensor so it should be covered in this video. Just skip the part where I talk about setting up the app. Or were you looking for something else?
Please, someone, if you know how I can buy Dexcom G7 from another country, Georgia. Link online shop, please 🙏 I really need it. And is it indeed true that only with prescription you can get it otherwise no.
You can find all the international Dexcom websites here www.dexcom.com/global
Can you use stomach?
In the US it's FDA-approved for (adults) wear on the arm. It's CE marked for arm and abdomen
My dr. had his nurse put it on my stomach abdomen.
are you still having issues with loss signal?
I only just got my new prescription filled, so still need some time to test it out
Excellent video.
Easy understanding instructions
Another great one by Christel Oerum. I have been using G6 and now I confirmed G7 companion app is available on my Pixel 7 Pro. But, CVS pharmacy told me G7 is not in stock now. Where did you get this from dear? I also live in the US (Texas) and wondering if this is widely available in CVS
Thanks. The first sensor I bought in Europe. I haven’t filled my G7 prescription in the US yet but the distribution I work with (US MED) has told me they’re fully stocked
@@DiabetesStrong thank you
Walgreens was the place I got mine. My insurance paid for it all - no co-pay.
Do you think Dexcom will ever create a “Goof Proof” over patch?
😆 Hopefully they’re working on a better solution
can I use an android watch alonf with my Sandroid phone?
It depends on the phone. You can find the full Dexcom G7 compatibility list on their website
Thanks a lot!that was very helpful!
Glad it helped!
Thanks! Can’t wait to get mine!😊
Hope you like it!
How do I shower while wearing the transmitter?
It’s waterproof so you just shower as you normally would
I wish I could get it but I have to wait for Omnipod to upgrade
Yeah, if I had a pump I’d wait as well. I’m sure they’ll figure it out relatively quickly
Has anyone addressed the Adhesive strength.
I find it to be similar to Dexcom G6. But I think I’m one of the few who doesn’t have an issue with it staying on
So far, I find it lacking, and I'm a couch potato.
How do you see your numbers Durocher grace period
I don't believe there's a grace period for Libre 3. If you are thinking of the start-up period, you don't get any readings during that initial hour and have to do finger sticks
Good video! Thanks.
Very helpful!
Hoping my insurance will cover the G 7. Thank you sharing the set up.
If it covers Dexcom G6 there is a bridge program. It guarantees an $89 copay. I haven't tried it, but will since my insurance isn't covering the G7 yet
@@DiabetesStrong You're awesome!
My insurance company dropped the Freestyle Libre so now I will be using the Dexcom G7 for the first time.
Ugh. You can try Baby Oil or the Uni-Solve glue removers. It's a much less painful (and faster) way to get it off
Just switched from g6 love it accept I can't get my boyfriend back on follow he has an iPhone we've tried everything it says safari states invalid address
You might have to delete the Dexcom G6 app first
K Has anyone experienced a bad G7 sensors in the same lots? My first time using the G7 my first 10 sensors I received, 7 were defective. Of which I had one that would not pair. I must say Dexcom did replace every one that failed.
I’ve seen a few comments that they had several sensors from the same shipment fail

HELP!!!!!
I’ve found that gently pushing the device against the arm helps. But for some of them, it has taken me a few tries to get the sensor to release
Thank you for your response. It is just so disappointing that I lost 4 sensors last evening trying to get that button to deploy the new sensor in my arm. I finally have ended up calling Dexcom who very graciously have agreed to replace all four of the sensors I lost last night. Hoping this does not happen again!
What about after 10 days
Thank you
Um why do G7 have a Sharp thing ?
The needle quickly insets the sensor and retracts it back into the insertion device. So it doesn't stay under the skin. All the CGMs get inserted with a needle, with some devices you just never see it
Just a bit of info ... under Medicare you must use their reader not a smart phone
Thank you very much…
You are welcome!
My box says it last for 14 days and I didn't have to press on the sensor to have it work. Are there different kinds?
Sounds like you have the FreeStyle Libre sensor. It’s a different brand
Can you send the results to your doctor?
Yes, Dexcom has a clinical sharing code as well as the option of sending a PDF
Need to know how to set the receiver up not the phone.
I don’t have one so can’t make that video. But check out 0:59 on this video th-cam.com/video/2A6CQfC0KUc/w-d-xo.html
