4:22 I am a type 2 diabetic. Recently changed over from Lifestyle to Dexcom G7 due to insurance coverage. I bought an arm band to hold the G7 in place. But i can seem to line up the G7 sensor so it properly fits the dirction of the arm band due to its shape. Thw Free style was round so the fit was never a problem. So now when I remove the G7 cap from the cup how do I line up the correct shape of the arm band. From Lost & Confused.
Holy moly, I was actually fearful of putting this on for the first time in spite of your assurances! Indeed, I didn’t feel anything inserting as a matter of fact! The sensation of pressing the cup against the back of my arm was really all I felt.
I just got my first CGM ever and was really nervous about where to put it, how to get it to stay on, etc - your videos helped me calm down about it and I’ve just placed it! Thank you for providing real human how-to advice - the actual Dexcom g7 videos I didn’t find super helpful or comforting.
Thank you for not disabling comments, like Dexcom did on its tutorials. My wife had used the G6, “upgraded” to the G7 around 6 months ago on the advice of her “clinic.” Tonight we had to insert a new sensor, and within five minutes the monitor beeped and said “sensor failed.” Yes, I had pressed the sensor for 10 seconds after I inserted it on her arm. This is the second or third G7 sensor that has failed since she switched from the G6. We again tonight had to insert a new G7 sensor, the last one she had. Also, the G7 keeps giving her abnormally low or high blood sugar readings for no apparent reason. IMO, for these reasons, there just is something not right about the G7.
In the past two weeks, we had four (4) G7’s fail to deploy after pressing the button. You attach it to the arm by pressing the button in the picture, where the man’s thumb is. My wife called them last Monday, they replaced them today, on Saturday. She was without use of the G7 to monitor her blood sugar levels all week. All frigging week! Dexcom, you have a problem.
Finally someone is talking about that ! Thank you ! I switched last night too because the providers told me they will soon discontinue G6 and so they advised us to get G7 The exact same thing happened to me ! The sensor failed within 5 min of warming up ! I tried and tried again but in vein ! Later I realised that my iPhone iOS is 17.5.1 ( up to date ) and the sensor only works with iOS 17.5.0 ( that’s its maximum) Very disappointing indeed ! I like the fact that G7 is very light and don’t feel it at all but .. didn’t have a good first impression 😏👎🏻
I loved the G6 compared to older CGMs. The warmup time getting reduced is nice. Thank you for the quick video. Been diabetic for 25 years this September
Non-native English speakers tend to speak English faster than native-English speakers. I have no problem understanding his instructions, however. Manual instruction are usually intimidating because they are confusing and difficult to follow when read. I have waited for almost a month for this reason before I applied this sensor on my wife's arm. Thank you TYPE ONE TALKS for making this ordeal so quick and simple. Subscribed and LIKED.
Thank you so much for this! I have to apply my four year old son's first g7 today and was afraid it would hurt him. But this video made me feel better.
Thank you for showing this. I was recently diagnosed with gestational diabetes and I'm terrified of needles. This helped break down the process and overall mental preparation I needed to do this. Thank you!
I’ve been diabetic for the last 14 years ! I don’t feel the pain anymore 😅 We humans can get used to anything don’t worry ! As for the G7 it’s totally painless ! I don’t even feel it on my arm !
Your video was incredibly helpful. I was very nervous that adding the sensor would hurt, but thanks to your video, I was confident when adding it and it did NOT hurt at all. Thank you for helping this newbie!
Ty I just applied my first sensor with the visual help of your video...I be anxious for a couple of weeks to apply it and use the receiver....you made it much easier and less traumatic.
Just wanted to thank you for this video, I use to get a freestyle libre 2, and just like the G7, it has a needle that kind of made me nervous, but I put it in, and didn't feel a thing, the problem I had was it kept falling off, I am so glad to see this has another patch to help keep it in place, I switched pharmacies, and when I did that, the device changed too, so I am glad for the extra patch to keep it in place, and thank you for this video
I watched this months ago. Thank you so much for your time and showing us! I am watching again. I get mine very soon. My PCP's Nurse will put it on me the first time because I am really nervous for some reason. I access my iv port with no problem with a thick needle. Lol!
Thank you, great video. Straight to the point information and super easy instructions as well. I just received my new G7, I was using the Freestyle Libre 3, but a nation wide shortage is in play. I don't have the patience to deal with that. Looking forward to setting up my G7 tonight.
I have finished my first G7 sensor/started my 2nd today. I was busy this afternoon and forgot to insert the new sensor before I left the house so my sensor "expired " while I was out, but the grace period kicked in and kept me going for an extra 2 hours until the end of my new sensor 30 min. warm-up. I LOVE this! No gap in readings! The worst part of G6 was the 2 hour warm-up with no readings... I am also a side sleeper, but I've learned to sleep on the opposite side from my sensor. I have also found G7 much more accurate for me. I also first rub the area with Costco Aller-Flo (generic Flonase, a trick I saw on TH-cam) to prevent adhesive irritation. As for the sensor not firing, the button is much harder to press, but I orient the device with the button pointing so my thumb can press it rather than a finger. This time the overlay patch got stuck on itself and turned out looking pretty bad, but I also use Skin-Tac liquid to make sure things stick and to put another extra layer preventing skin irritation from the adhesive. UPDATE: I applied sensor 2 on a Friday. It fell off my arm in the shower 7 days later. Don’t know why, used Skin-Tac, used overlay, even added more Skin-Tac to glue down edges of overlay when they started to come off. Dexcom is sending a new sensor. Used liquid skin adhesive on the edges of the overlay for sensor 3.
Thank you so much for sharing your amazing video with us. It was incredibly informative and helpful. Your video has been invaluable in helping me understand diabetes better. Before watching it, I was feeling quite sad and depressed about my journey with this condition. I really like the Dexcom G7. YOU ARE THE BEST.😁😁😁😁😁
This video is right on time. I have used G6 for a few years. However, I needed a refill of sensors and my doctor switched me to G7 a 3 month supply should be arriving tomorrow. I also have Skin Grip ordered and on the way. I am really going to like the 30 minute warm up. The last 4 times I changed my G6 sensor I was in a hurry and forgot to start the warm up period I actually had to stick my finger a couple of times to monitor a higher than normal carb meal.
You can use a bit of skin tac liquid adhesive leaving enough of a hole in the middle and then apply a Hydrocolloid Gel Bandage with a big enough hole in the center. IINsert the sensor and apply an adhesive patch over it and you will never have any moisture underneath, no water or soap residue after a shower or swimming in the pool. I've used this method for over 4 years and have never had an issue. Great for working out etc. No one ever knows if I'm wearing a sensor because they cannot see it.
Have been using G7 for about 2 months. Having trouble with placement and compression lows. Watched video closely and will try to place more to the back of my arm. Never had this problem with G6. So far no problem with enclosed over-patch. But I don’t sweat a lot
My sensor failed on my iPhone as well just because my iOS is 17.5.1 and the sensor only reads with iOS 17.5.0 ! My phone is up to date but the sensor can’t reach that level yet so I’m disappointed!
After using the Freestyle Libre for a couple years, then the G6, and now just switched to my 2nd G7, using an over-patch as suggested, please convey this with a sub-title on this video. You showed putting the numbers printed on the side of the plastic applicator into your phone app. Is that all we have to do to pair everything? For some reason, I've become intimidated by the whole "changing my sensor"...and I handle some major tech problems each day at work. The 1st was put on by a nurse so this is my 1st try. The videos showing the process 1 by 1 is what I need. Is there a link to that anywhere?? Thank you for such a great video
I will be starting my first g7 tonight. But my skin is allergic to certain adhesive so I use Flonase on my skin before applying sensor it help keep it on full 10 days. No rash. I take shower before putting sensor on. No alcohol wipes
@@spyinthesky7778 I guess I should have explained. The one it comes with in my experience starts to peel off by day 5 so have some extra ready. I’m going to order the ones he mentioned.
This video has been reassuring because I just opened up my sensor pack, and I wasn't expecting the needle to be that big. Therefore, I'm a bit terrified, 😌 but mainly because I wasn't sure what to do if I was among the small percent who thought it hurt and what to do if it hurts. 😓 Also, I sleep on my back, so the back of my arms don't seem like a good place to put the sensor. But like the narrator demonstrated, I think that the inside of my arm would be better.
@@kahinaharrache5026 Well, now that they allowed my GP to let me place it anywhere on my abdomen, it now doesn't hurt or scare me. That behind the arm thing was a headache for me.
@@trentmonaghan179 Did you know that the needle does not get into your skin ? Pay attention when you insert it next time, you’ll see the needle is still inside the applicator ! Just a tiny wire is inserted !
@@kahinaharrache5026 Also, did you know that all that you need as an overpatch is a 7, 2/3 in x 3, 1/2 in waterproof rectangle bandage rather than those annoying round ones, which don't stay on? 😫
Thank you for the correction Michal. I had no idea about this technicality:) Btw it might be in Czechia faster than you expect. I saw a Dexcom presentation last weekend (I'm not allowed to shary any details) but it looked promissing.
The educationalist at the doctor's office said we should apply the sensor for 12 hours concurrently with current sensor in order for it to have more accurate readings. Is this something youve found? Thank you!
Hi !Your videos are great ! Thank you! I have a question regarding the skin grip, I noticed on your video that there is an inner circular cut out, but on amazon there is no inner circular cut out. Am I looking at another skin grip that is different than yours? Thank you for your quick response. Best, G.
I have been off of my g6 for a while because the place that sent it to me stoped because they stoped supporting my insurance and so I went to the Barbara Davis center and the gave me one to try it just sucks that it doesn't connect to tandem but once it dose I'm gonna switch to g7
Why only the back of the arm??? I've been using sensors on the front of my upper arms for nearly 7 years with no problems! I'm a side sleeper, so back of arm would give me Lost Sensor alarms for sure! Anyone else using the front of their arms?
Thank you for yet another great video. Yours are always more informative than the official ones (and also way more entertaining). Type One Talks.... and I listen 😊
I am switching from Libre7 to Dexcom7. You had recommended a sticky wipe before using the Libre. Can I just use us these wipes or do I need to buy this other tape you are recommending?
So the applicator is a once off use? I know the sensors last 10 days, but what about the applicator? Does it have 3 sensors already in it? Does every sensor come with a different applicator?
I went to change my G7 on Monday and I couldn’t get it to fire so I took a 2nd one and that wouldn’t fire either so I had to get a work colleague to apply it for me next day. Have you heard anybody having trouble with this? It makes me wonder about anyone using this device that has a problem with dexterity? I don’t usually have problems with application but 2 in a row?!
The reason might be that you didn't push against your skin before you pressed the button. It happened to me too. There is a round plastic ring "coming out" of the applicator that needs to be pressed against the skin. Not strongly but you do need to press before you fire (just like I show it in the video). Hope this helps but of course it could have just been a faulty inserter... Good luck!
I hit a vein when applying my first G7 which bled a tiny bit. Because I had used a G6 for a couple of years before I had done this before so I just applied cleaned around the sensor and applied the over patch. Unfortunately, I could always feel the G7 on my arm and had slight pain when it was touched by anything for 5 days then I took it off (because of insurance I only pay $60 U. S. dollars for a ninety day supply (this is 1/2 the price of G6 because I had to pay $60 for both the sensor and the transmitter if I had used the Dexcom receiver that would have been $60 more. My point is if it hurts and you can afford it take it off. Also, Dexcom was always good about sending me replacements if a receiver or transmitter failed. I might contact them to see if they will replace the G7.
I had cracked the g6 hand held monitor they said my insurance would not give me a new one until 5 years later and it eoukd costs me 199.00!!! So they gave me an upgrade to a g7
I'm not holding my breath waiting for the G7 to appear here in Australia. I say this many times... When it comes to diabetes management devices and gadgets here in Australia we are the backwater country where we wait and wait and.... You get the picture. Even the Australian Dexcom distributor AMSL have no idea about the G7.
Hi, I'd ask about your experience with the app's battery % consumption. My G6 app is dreadful to battery. Phone is tellong that ~45% goes for Dexcom app. That means I can only use phone for 1 hour per charge for other stuff. I've stopped using dexcom for now because of it and the phones battery is ok again..
Hello just watched a video liked it a lot. Do I need to download Clarity? I have a G6 and I have the G6 app and Clarity do I need to erase both of them and reinstall them for G7.
No, you can have both installed, though you will lose space on the lock screen. I got a G7 sample from my endo and ran G6 and G7 at the same time, on the same phone, for ten days. That was quite informative.
With libre 3 it sticks in place for the full duration, no problem. Since it's smaller, you don't pump into things either. Why is G7 so large? They should try to compete with libre and make one even smaller that last for 3 weeks!
G7 is larger than FSL 3, true. But not significantly larger I would say. For me, the difference in size is not a big deal. Honestly. I place more importnace on other features than the difference in size at this point.
@@TypeOneTalks i can only compare libre 2 against libre 3. Libre 3 sticks much better and i would say its an overall improvement. on android you can use darkmode in order to inverse the apps color
I'd like the know if there is any difference in the interstitial fluid in different parts of the body. Seems it would be the same all over so putting sensor in the arm, abdomen, etc., wouldn't make any difference.
I am not an expert in this area but I know there was a study done with FreeStyle Libre proving that arm and thing are more accurate than abdomen (not sure if it was due to interstitial fluid differences or other factors though).
I am a type 1. I used the G6 for sometime and it was not accurate. I am now using a G7. I am on the third G7 sensor and it also is not accurate compared with a finger stick. I do not trust the G7. I use it mostly to inform me of low blood sugar during the night. Sometimes it is way off even then. I have the G7 on the back of my arm and the area is sore around the sensor. The G6 was never sore around it.
Finger prick is better as g7, g6 or free libre as it actually reads ur blood for g7 and the rest it only reads the blood sugar on your interstitial fluid and there is always a delay on the reading also it depends if the sensor is pressed against something. Thats why it still best to check ur blood sugar through finger prick sometimes
just starting the G7, can you tell me in your opinion is the app good? Or should i go with the receiver instead? I see the reviews aree horrific on this app. always crashing and not alerting the alarms when your high or low.
I tried it for the first time last night ! Mt iPhone is up to date so iOS is 17.5.1 but the sensor’s limit for reading is 17.5.0 so it failed ! I honestly don’t like it ! Already disappointed! Never had a major issue with G6
Is skin grip easy to remove? My son is using original over-patch but it’s hard to remove with adhesive remover(Uni-Solve). It partially melts so I can’t peel it off without scattering it.
No one seems to be talking about calibration and it seems to me that this is one of the key features of the G7. In the limited info I've been able to find, I read that once you are out of range (20 feet) and you lose the signal, you're supposed to calibrate the G7 again. Is this true? Also, how can we find out if Dexcom is going to add features later whereby we are not required to carry our smartphones with us all of the time in order to get a reading on our watch. It seems that having the ability for the G7 to communicate directly with a smartwatch would be a HUGE step. I typically have my Apple SE watch on all of the time but I'm not always within 20 feet of my phone. Any information you might be able to provide on this would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to your reply and BTW, I enjoy your videos

I can't wait for G7 to be available in the Czechia! By the way, the code on the applicator is not QR Code but Datamatrix or GS1 code.
Thank you!
I tried the g7 I love it.compared to the fibre libre2 I do not feel this sensor and give better real time reading
Dexcom has some work to do if the sensor won't stay on for 10 days. My Freestyle Libre stays on for 14 days no problem.
How often do u have to change the sensor
Why only the back of the arm??? I've been using sensors on the front of my upper arms for nearly 7 years with no problems! I'm a side sleeper, so back of arm would give me Lost Sensor alarms for sure! Anyone else using the front of their arms?
I’ve used stomach, side of arm, and back of arm. Dexcom 7 is what it is.
I can’t wait for this to work with the Tandem T-Slim so I can upgrade I just got my G6 caught on the car door jam and ripped it off 😭
I need to try the upper arm with my G6, since there's usually more pain with abdominal sites.
Please how to I connect the g7 to the tslim device
Thank you for yet another great video. Yours are always more informative than the official ones (and also way more entertaining). Type One Talks.... and I listen 😊
Hi there my phone doesnt support g 7 app will G6 app work with g7 device??
Thanks
Lucky to get 6 days off my G7 frustrated also not that accurate the G6 was better no idea why this is happening with my G7
I am switching from Libre7 to Dexcom7. You had recommended a sticky wipe before using the Libre. Can I just use us these wipes or do I need to buy this other tape you are recommending?
I have flabby arms from weight loss will that be a problem for the G7? Or can I just continue to place it where I had placed it with the G6 ….. thanks
To understand this right - do I have to order a new box every 10th day? If yes its pretty extensive?!
I want to use the receiver that goes with it, but it is not included. How do you get a receiver and what does it cost?
Funciona en latinoamerica ?
Hi , I need to know if can use the same receiver of G6 in G7 ? Thanks
My mother doesn't know how to use smart phones that well . She isn't text savvy at all. Do you have to have the app ?
I have a Dexcom G6 Black box
receiver. How do I pair it with the. Sensor???
So the applicator is a once off use? I know the sensors last 10 days, but what about the applicator? Does it have 3 sensors already in it? Does every sensor come with a different applicator?
Yeeee I subscribed to your channel. Thank you for the info. Can I get into public swimming pool with sensor on me?
How does one recognize high from low sounds
Good luck!
Hey plz can you test the new Aidex CGM
Have you tried the Skin Patch without the whole?
I plan to use one sensor a month for 3 months. I’m using it for weight loss. I’m wondering if that’s ok.
Do I have to desinstall g6 app before installing g7 app
How well does dexcom g7 work on chest?
@@brendaandrandyking4126when you switch to the g7 did you have to download the app or use the g6 app.
Never mind ! G6 is better anyway!
G7 has many problems !
I have been using this for a couple of weeks. The reading rarely match my strips. I get a lot of false lows.
😃thanks
Hi, I'd ask about your experience with the app's battery % consumption. My G6 app is dreadful to battery. Phone is tellong that ~45% goes for Dexcom app. That means I can only use phone for 1 hour per charge for other stuff. I've stopped using dexcom for now because of it and the phones battery is ok again..
Have you tried G& outside of your arm, and if so how acurate was it.
How long déose it lost?
Daughter has been using this for 6 months or so. Been really happy with it. Any ideas if or when it’ll be linked to the Omnipod 5?
I believe 2nd half of 2023 is what was in the press realease. But this is up to Insulet now not Dexcom if you know what I mean.
I can't find the 4 digit code. Can find the plastic. Please help
Does it work in Venezuela? Freestyle libre 2 sensor does not
I am a type 1.
Is this still happening even after calibrating it?.
Same with my grandma!!
I’m sorry you’ve experienced this. The G6 helped me get my A1C below 6.2 for the first time in my life (29M).
Calibration. Did you calibrate once in a while. Mines was always off 5 points. But it save me slot and drop my A1c
just starting the G7, can you tell me in your opinion is the app good? Or should i go with the receiver instead? I see the reviews aree horrific on this app. always crashing and not alerting the alarms when your high or low.
I tried it for the first time last night !
Mt iPhone is up to date so iOS is 17.5.1 but the sensor’s limit for reading is 17.5.0 so it failed !
I honestly don’t like it ! Already disappointed! Never had a major issue with G6
5:33pm so I can stop testing my sugars once the G7 is fully functional correct
How does the charity app works with followers?
How to i make follower? Thanks 🙏
I have a question. How can I contact you ?
It currently works with the Apple Watch. Mine goes direct to my watch.
