    I have been a Dexcom user for over 10 years and have tried many sites. I have finally settled on wearing my sensors on the upper buttocks a little more toward the hip and below my underwear band on either side (rotate back and forth) ever since the G6 came out. It is protected by clothes and is the most discreet location on the body for me and can't see it even with a swimsuit on. Never had a problem with insertion or accuracy and I always use an overpatch. To me it is one of the most underrated locations and I LOVE IT!
    Thank you for this excellent resource for T1D diabetics!

    I started wearing the G7 in 2023 (Never had the G6 or prior versions). I have always worn it on the back of my arm. I wear it a little lower and more inside than you do in the very fatty area. I have never had a problem with it. I even sleep on my arm, too! Oh wait I had a problem with one a couple weeks ago that just never paired so they sent me a replacement. But I have never had a problem with it falling off or compression readings nothing like that. I love it. I wish I could wear it on my stomach but I have 2 chihuahua's that think my stomach is a trampoline, so... 😂

    Im new to the G7 and im 8 days into my first one...the Dr placed it on the back of my arm and my readings are 100pts lower than my glucometer making it difficult to know how much insulin to take. Great Info! I am a side sleeper and It is hard to sleep on left side 10 day then change to right side for 10 days to stop compression lows. The next sensor I am going to try is the spot you are using on the inner thigh. That looks like a great spot. Side note I seemed to get better reading in my right arm as opposed to the left arm. This seemed to be consistent since I went to G7 sensor on the arm. Thanks again for all you do for us diabetics.

    Thank you for sharing this insightful content. As a Medical Doctor and Endocrinologist, I find it fascinating how small adjustments to the sensor placement-sometimes as little as an inch-can significantly impact its effectiveness. Some of my patients have also reported they find that one arm, leg, or side of the abdomen often works noticeably better than the other side. It's a reminder of how individual variability plays a critical role in optimizing sensor performance.

    I DON'T wear my G7 sensor on my arms due to an arm injury and arthritis. BUT the main reason I don't want it on my arms is to keep my T2DM diagnosis confidential. That totally prevents inappropriate comments & inaccurate medical suggestions from others. Some folks tend to become the Carb Monitoring Police. Placing my sensors out-of-sight blocks that. When I switched from G6 to G7, I talked to my internal med physician about wearing the G7 above my waist; and he ok'd that. I always have good connectivity; however, my skin does become sore in spots so your suggestions on other possible sites is most helpful.

      Yes, wearing Libre 2, second sensor on chest (female) and, coincidentally, about the same measurement from collar bone. It's comfortable, sits under bra strap, or just lower, not likely to be knocked off, no compression lows either. Apart from the 'wear on back of arm' license, I haven't found an issue yet. Also, don't supprt it with other adhesives as I'm allergice to them all, but I've, so far, not seen any of the sensor starting to peel off, or become loose etc. I'd recommend it ;)

The back of arm is annoying sometimes as a side sleeper, and I use my arms a lot doing projects, and by the end of two weeks it’s barely hanging on most of the time.

    My endo gave me several g7’s to try. The first one was placed by his nurse. We couldn’t get it to pair no matter what. Then I tried the 2nd one at home. It worked fine until the 3rd day. Then it said failed and replace. The 3rd one was my fault. I placed it on the back and kinda on the side of my upper arm. It was working perfectly until I ran into the door frame! Now, I’m awaiting 9. When I get them, I’ll try again. I wish it were round vs oval. It’s hard to put the patch over it without messing it up! Any sectrets? Thank you! God Bless😇

    The lower back and thigh are good sites as these are rarely used for injection /infusion. These are less likely to have subdermal scarring or hard fat deposits. . When I did MDI, I used the FDA G7 site for 6 injections/day whenever I was wearing short sleeves.

    I'm over six feet tall and I manage to turn corners and hit door frames and knocked a sensor (different model). I have also disrupted one snagging it on the door opening frame on my car getting out of the car. I think there is a general ergonomics issue for people rather than clumsiness, although that can be a factor too.

    I've also been using G7 since early 2023 without any issues... until a few weeks ago. From one sensor to the next, my skin does not tolerate the glue anymore - I get pain, rashes, red to violet skin for weeks after just a few days of wearing the sensor. I had to revert to alternative sites and still have barely enough good skin remaining for my Omnipods. Dexcom seems to have done some minor changes to the glue - I have zero issues with other companies' patches. It's unnerving to be so dependent on a product that can be changed any time...

    • @DiabetesStrong
      @DiabetesStrong  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      oh no, that's unfortunate. Skin Grip has some patches that you can put under the sensor so that the sensor glue doesn't touch your skin. Might be worth looking at: skingrip.com?aff=208

    • @Scott13131
      @Scott13131 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm just curious if you have noticed anything different recently. My last refill of the sensors I have noticed a different glue and/or more of it on the sensor. I have also noticed the overlay is also way stickier. It's also not as rigid....found the earlier version easier to put on. It's now flimsier, but stays on much better.
      I will second your opinion on the Skin Grip. I have used them with my G6 and have them for the G7. Especially liked using them when I was planning on going swimming.

    I'm using the new Stelo which is supposed to be the same as the g7 but the instructions say specifically not to place it on the abdomen because you will get inaccurate readings, buti have been thinking of my thigh, so it's good to hear of your experience with that placement. Thanks.

      I have the stelo, and my readings on the back of the arm are about 20 points lower than my blood glucose monitor. I'm trying the front of my arm when I can finally move this thing. I don't like the back of the arm!

  • @JoanEB
    @JoanEB 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I wear my G7 on my chest just above the breast where the tissue becomes thicker. The back of my arm has the most thin, delicate skin, and placement there was a disaster. Directions say to avoid very fleshy areas and that is all that is there! I still have marks after 4 months. I tried putting the very first one on my thigh and the sensor failed so I haven't tried it again yet. On my chest, it is out of view and rarely gets compressed. I am 70 and though my skin is in very good shape for my age, the underlying fat layer is growing thin.

It allows me to sleep on either side without lying on it and I’ve never had a problem. I have a herniated disc in my neck so back of the arm placement is very difficult for me. Too much twisting and looking over my arm.

    Believe it or not both my husband and I wear it on our "chest". Mine is right on the fatty part of my boob. It doesn't hurt at all. Just be sure not to hit the area straight up and down from the nipple as there is a vein there. I was given this suggestion from the training RN from Medtronic. I have been using Dexcom devices for nearly ten years. I HATE the G7. It is too difficult to place the G7 on one's arm. I, too, have had them fall off. The G7 also loses contact with my Tandem X2 pump whenever I walk outside. And, there there is the problem of the G7 failing before the 10-day expiration period.

    I get compression lows because I put my sensors on the back/side of my arms and I’m a side sleeper. I want to try the thigh but the top of the thigh has a lot of muscle. And the sensor should not be inserted into muscle. (That’s another reason why I don’t like the calf idea either or the front of the arm because those are muscles.) I will try the stomach. Thank you so much for your videos! I have learned so much.

I love wearing it there far more than my arm. the thigh sounds like it could be a good spot also.
