    Dendera
    There are two zodiacs in Dendera (65 km north Luxor). One on the roof of the 2nd chapel (it is assumed older 80 years) and another long and rectangular in a wall of the pronaos (hall). It is believed that they should be studied jointly being in the same temple 1 (we are already with assumptions). Eric Aubourg and Sylvie Cauville 2 think that it is a capture of the sky in the moment of the construction of the chapels of Osiris (temple is of Hathor); the most accepted, defended by C. Leitz, Otto Neugebauer and R. Parker3, believe it is a constellation catalog derived from ancient Egyptian and Greek astronomy, without a definite time. One of the aspects in which Leitz-Neugenbauer fails is that some symbols are neither Greek nor astronomical, like Satet and Anuket who follow Sopdet (Sirius) and measure the floods of the Nile.
    The interpretation of Aubourg-Cauville fails in the «positions of the planets »correspond to hypsomata or exaltation (astrology, influence max.). The reason why the round roof zodiac is dated in 51 BC (7-Mar) it is because of the supposed association of two disc-shaped engravings in Pisces, which It is believed to mark an eclipse. The astronomical arguments are not clearly exposed.
    Dendera 2
    Gavin White believes that the style of most constellation figures is Greek except 3-4 of Babylonian origin. Some think it is a copy of
    other mesopotamian zodiacs that have not reached us and that contains errors1. Others think that there are indications that there have been other temples in Denderah in 1500 BC and 22505. The cult of Hathor4 and the ‘Hieros Gamos’ (sexual fertility ritual among gods is
    dating back to 7000-3500) were spread all over the east for millennia3. The ecliptic of the zodiac is somewhat deformed (it is not circular). There are scientists who see a spiral starting from Cancer although it is not centered6. Some associate the spiral with precession8.
    According to Fomenko (and Morozov) there are no combinations of the figures Astronomical by the proven dating of the zodiac before the twelfth century (not shown results) and give dates 20-Mar-1185 for the round and 22-Apr-1168 for the length (rectangular). The one in the Minor Temple of Esna (Luxor) dated 6-May-1404 (this one if it fits in Stellarium; not Dendera's).
    It seems that he uses the exaltations of the planets as points where they should have see the stars (Saturn in Lib-Vir; Jupiter in Can-Gem; Mercury in Vir-Leo; Mars in Capr; Venus in Pis-Aqvr; Sun and Moon in Pis) [Others place Sun-Moon in Ari and Tau respectively].
    Astronomer Burckhardt and engineer Coraboeuf who went with Napoleon to Dendera, they dated the zodiac in 2000 BC and the one from Esna in 6000 BC1. His argument is that one of Esna's zodiacs has Virgo at the end and that of Dendera Leo (suppose both point to the summer solstice. If the vernal equinox was Tau the summer solstice was Leo, and if spring began in Vir, summer in Gem). Yes one
    It starts in Tau (Dendera) and the other one in Gem (Esna) is what has precessed. Champollion argued that he could not date from before Alejandro then he found a cartridge that said "autocrator" (dictator). UlaGyula Priskin associates the marking of the zodiac with the myth of Osiris (although tells more about the myth of Horus and Seth-Typhon). In any case, the myth of Horus-Seth is a fight for succession (‘Titanomaquia’).
    Dendera - Assumptions
    Most analysis of the Dendera Temple and the Egyptian zodiacs were based on a stable solar system and star positions like the current one. The rest are interpretations of myths, figures and horoscope styles. If we can date astronomically from Egypt, it is Giza. The sphinx
    mark the vernal equinox of the Leo Era (that does not mean that the Sphinx or the pyramids were built then). That era is supposed to transition between Holocene-Pleistocene.
    If we consider valid (in broad strokes) radiometric dating up to that period and we accept the climatic graphs (ice cores) since Dryas,
    we have smaller and smaller reaches of Temperature until they stabilise after the Dark Age of Rome.
    If the previous pole was +/- in Hudson Bay (about 35 degrees of difference with Actual Pole) this would represent a little more than a zodiac sign (current zodiacal band would be displaced north).
    Dendera - Conclusions
    Given that the Sphinx must have been sculpted not after 6000 BC (erosion Schoch-Reader), and to set the Pyramids to the north and towards Thuban (it would be polar between 1200 and 4200 BC), they should have been made between 4200 and 6000. This is considering that the precession / nutation were the same as today! The causes of Nutations are partially unknown. And if the precession is due to lunisolar forces (and the Moon was not yet stable ...). The moon has a stabilizing effect on the axis of rotation 1. Other causes may lie in the planetary magnetic field 2. Thus, Thuban could be polar much earlier. If Thuban and the Sphinx can be placed in the Era of Cancer, perhaps that can explain its position in Dendera Zodiac.

    The Dendera Temple is dated to the Ptolemaic period (though possibly built ontop of an earlier structure.) The Greek zodiac is based upon the Babylonian copy so there is no surprise that his zodiac is very similar to the Babylonian model. Of course the Assyrian conquest of egypt would have brought the Babylonian model over to egypt at an earlier time but I wonder what the Egyptians actually believed in the old kingdom before foreign invasions brought in difference symbolism.

    I had heard the Egyptians reworked the zodiac early on. In the zodiac presented I see "star cluster" near horn of Taurus the bull, which is obviously Pleaides, but not triangulum. I could be mistaken but this was a very important constellation for Babylonians, I doubt it would be left out.

    I've been studying Hellenistic Astrology and it's history - which is fascinating and does touch on this topic. The Greeks were mostly influenced by the Babylonians, but also by the Egyptians as well in the formation of their astrological system. It is likely that the Ancient Egyptians did have their own version of astrology before the importation of the Babylonian zodiac. The decans seen on the Dendera Zodiac and known to be used for keeping time, are part of that older Egyptian system. The decans are still used in modern astrology. Unfortunately, though I have been looking for more information on the topic; I have not been able to find much about the decans - especially their use in an astrological fashion as opposed to a practical time keeping one. At least the only texts I have been able to come across are Hellenized astrological texts (and not much there), which of course, hybridized the Egyptians decans and used them in various ways. I hope if you find out more information, as I'd love to find out more on the subject.

    The Babylon star chart may have been designed earlier during a previous civilization and time showing where the two paths cross - the ecliptic path and the celestial path. The ceiling of Dendera was not a copy but showed the crossing of the two paths during our time where the path crosses two different constellations. There is also a star chart in Kitora Tomb in Asuka Japan that shows those two paths crossing through their constellations. I don't believe the ceiling of Dendera is in error. The 12 constellations are on the ecliptic path and Orion, Pleiades and Sirius are on the Celestial path. Thomas O. Mills

    There was a recent article that said the ancient egyptians used a binary star set in alpha draconis, Thuban as their north star. What struck me was they said it had 51.4 faces during 1 earth year and I was wondering if this is where they got the slope angle for the great pyramid (51degrees)? The night sky was more than just the heavens to ancient cultures. It was a means of navigating the world whether on land or sea as well as a clock.

      The same or similar thought came to mind as I looked for patterns in the imagery. What were the ideas that were eventually advanced and what process was undertaken to determine the accendancy of competing views may not be easily deduced from evidence, but it may be possible to resolve certain layers of the process if a hypothesis can be formulated to test for consistencies, but it would likely be a difficult challenge and impossible to resolve to the satisfaction of those that might decide to undertake that approach to decipherment.

  • @walteringle2258
    @walteringle2258 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    @13:23 The side by side comparison is proportional enough to each other that it's almost certainly an artistic adaption of the elder. If it can be traced to the Ptolemaic period, with the effort that the Library of Alexandria put into acquiring foreign texts, and realizing copies of art are much more more likely to have been poorly copied for whoever sculpted this, and Babylon itself having been taken by Alexander (he actually died there in 323 BC), it seems very likely that they copied the artwork and transformed it. A lot cross deistic mystery cults existed between Egypt and the Greco-Romans, and was very much a common practice to unite conquered territories through such practices, so it being extended to Babylon makes me wonder why no mainstream peeps have pointed that out...

    • @walteringle2258
      @walteringle2258 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, it occurred to me, forgot to note above, the nature of the stone itself could have lent itself to some of the repositioning of some of the figures. Perhaps some of the figures were moved slightly just to take advantage of softer stone.

    Champollion used coptic , when that didn't work he tried Hamatic Aramaic and then Hebrew. Welsh translates every word. And the other symbolic level of txt as it's multi layered. Each symbol denotes a letter and a meaning. The first letter of the Welsh word for the symbol gives it's letter. E.g Cleopatras cartouch reads : angle, reclining lion, corn/grain, slingshot/olive berries, Door, Bird/eagle, Fist, open mouth, bird/eagle.
    In Welsh: Congl, Llew/Lledogwyddo, Eden/Yden , Offeryn/Olewydd/Olifaidd, Porth , Adar/Aderyn, Dwrn, Rhoch, Adar/Aderyn. Spelling CLEOPADRA and the meaning of the symbols when put together read Abundantly Proud she the Pledged (promised) all powerful priest , proclaimed pledged to chide and threaten (govern) . 14 years ago I was researching the white shamans and Celts in the Americas and came accross the same calander in the Americas. At the same time I was also researching the Faraday Disk and over unity, even constructing one, at which point I noticed strange cars parked on my street seemingly watching me. I got spooked so to speek, and the good Lord pulled me away for something else.

    the reason it seems out of order to the zodiac is because it is not a drawing or a map of the zodiac. it shows the positions of the planets and what house of the zodiac they appear in on that day. i'm still working on it but i'm getting around 600bc with a wide margin of error of over 100 yrs either way.

    Regarding the tower of Babel, in the Hebrew Genesis 11:4 reads, "And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, *_and its top with the heavens;_* and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth. - Meaning, the star map is painted on the ceiling like the ancient temples Denderah and Esneh, which came after the tower of Babel. God's Word is written in the stars and is called the 'mazzaroth' in Job 38:32 KJV. This is how God's Word was taught and handed down prior to Moses' scribework. This is why the stars were grouped and named into the constellations we all recognize, even among diverse civilizations. The tower of Babel builders were trying to keep God's Word in the stars as some sort of secret knowledge to use without God, instead of understanding it and teaching it to whoever wanted to learn about God's Word in the stars. Cain knew God's Word in the stars. He lived a long time and taught many people without understanding God's will and purpose for this temporary age of flesh.

    At 11:05 the "wolf and plow" aka Draco, is show as the center of the zodiac. Why Draco? Because the zodiac is laid out as a projection centered around the north ecliptic pole, not the north celestial pole. (This also warps the zodiac out of being circular.)The ancient astronomers attempted to find the correlation between the heavens and the earth. The celestial pole represents continuity and solidity over a common life span, but they knew that for longer periods (hundreds and thousands of years) the sky revolved in such a way the the celestial pole may be occupied by varying stars. What is eternal in the sky? Only the ecliptic poles. The ecliptic pole follows the same arc across the sky no matter what stars may occupy the celestial pole, no matter what constellation may mark the equinox, no matter how the sky has moved in the precessional revolution. The ecliptic pole is the only constant point in the heavens. This knowledge was, I think, considered to be very sensitive and likely only explained to higher initiates.
    You can find this knowledge hidden in the Angkor Thom complex of Cambodia where Angkor Wat is merely one temple. The complex represents the stars of Draco, and while Angkor Wat is the largest temple, the roads and connections are all based around a temple marking the north ecliptic pole. The name of that temple? "Victory Mountain".

    Makes sense, the artist may have only had an imperfect drawing to go off of as well to try to replicate it. I mean it’s not like they could just snap a picture. Drawing is hard, carving is hard and certainly wasn’t the most common skill back then.
