Unrealistically Realistic
Its almost terrifying on how realistic everything is. 10 years down the line and we could be expecting VR games that look so realistic you couldn't tell between real life. Sure there is some mostly realistic games for VR but wait until things get spicy and life as we know it could be a mirage under photorealism

VR wont be around in 10 years time. They have tried it twice now and it never became more than a curiosity. Even the champions of VR, steam are abandoning it with their titles and focus to other tech.

@@muhashartaj If somebody scrolled a jpeg taken from a camera shot of a landscape from 20 years ago on a screen, you'd think the same thing for a short time. This is just rendering of a 3D scan, like a jpeg is a 2D scan, it's not as special as you think.

The only reason I can tell some of this is rendered is because it simply looks better then reality
I'm sure we can make this way more realistic just by adding shading, focus and details/blur adjustments based on the human eye so it's 100% natural.
It's not that the scenes were unrealistic, it's because the rendering of the scene is made to look perfect which is not reality.

I think the point is more that it’s fascinating that we can usually tell when something actually is naturally human. Which is why we can tell when the differences between real photos and 3D renderings. And we can tell when facial expressions are natural and not some actor over exaggerating 3D facial scan modeling.
I don’t get scared either. Im more amazed and jaw dropped i guess??

We NEED those kinds of physics and graphics with a vr game in the future.
One of the major obstacles in real time computer graphics is creating accurate movement of all objects in a simulation.

Yep! No wonder shows like The Mandalorian can have their immersive backgrounds rendered live on set with Unreal. Graphics are getting closer and closer to photorealism every day.
Imagine from 2010-2021 is only 11 years and how quick and so far has gone tech stuff but now that mostly are ready to quick our process till 2030 or (upcoming10 years ) the tech will go 3 times quicker and better than last 10 years . IM LOVING THIS!!!

I think in a few years (or decades) we'll be able to simulate an alternate real life (with out being able to feel of course).

I want a game, where you're in a run down city, with plenty of people who live in poverty, and you have to try to create an army and make money, and build a community, then rebel against the government. Get guns, and stuff like that. It'd be awesome.

At last a photorealistic claim that's actually photorealistic :) Re animated faces, I find it's mouth animation that gives it away. On the still, scowling woman, the main thing that gives it away for me is how soft it is, like a painting. The earlier vegetation shots where indistinguishable for me.
I am so excited to see where the graphic's go in the future, I hope I'm alive to experience it.........and here I was impressed by Red Dead Redemption 2 on my high end gaming PC but this is truly amazing.
Imagine we made improvements this fast and we still dont believe we live in a sim
For me, it's always the softness/harshness of light, or lack of sharpness/appropriate reflection from skin for example. Having eyes that are overly reflective is unrealistic. Soft shadows where there should be clean distinct shadows underneath objects, and the opposite when there is a lack of penumbra.
Of course, without detailed texture, it's easy to undermine any work in the aforementioned points. If you are focusing on something and there is a bokeh effect on the background, you better make damn sure that what you are focusing on is not uncanny.

I feel like the andy serkis one was more unsettling than siren. Siren looks pretty accurate.
The human still isn’t convincing. The transition between shadows and highlighted areas on the skin is too sharp, the skin pores are lacking the shine that comes up in certain sweat glands on the face (such as around and under the eyes and on the edges of the forehead), and the contours are too defined whereas they should be softer.
