    I'm actually taking Accounting 3/4 this year, and I found your point about not rushing too ahead really pertinent, because I did exactly that and finished the entire textbook before the school year began 😆. Thanks though!

      Hey Dark! It’s not the ‘too ahead’ part that I have a problem with, more the ‘rushing’ part - so if you think you’ve established a good foundation then that’s fine. Rushing is not ‘bad’ so much as a waste of time. Good luck for Accounting!

    Hi darren, thanks for the awesome video! I was just curious about the part when you mentioned 'solid learning' for maths when prelearning the content during the holidays. Does this also include doing practice tests on top of the textbook questions as you are studying ahead or do you think just doing the textbook is fine for that stage?

    • @DarrenTan21
      @DarrenTan21  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      ‘Solid learning’ in the holidays for me means that you’d be fairly comfortable being assessed on that topic.
      I reckon textbook questions is enough because you can complete more prep with practice tests later.

    hey Darren! have you ever gotten a SAC score that kind of bummed you out, enough for you to actually like put you off track for a bit? i got an 88 for my first VCE 3/4 SAC and I had high expectations for it, and I'm quite upset about it lol. Do you have any advice as to how to deal with it?? Will it ruin my chances of getting a 50?

    • @DarrenTan21
      @DarrenTan21  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey r! It’s definitely happened to me, notably in English and Latin. At the time it may seem like it has ruined your chances, especially if it’s your first 3/4. Honestly that thinking is mostly untrue - there are many sacs to come that you should focus on + the all important exam. Put your energy into reflecting on this past sac and your preparation, and also apply yourself to your future assessments. Any score is possible especially after only one sac, but that’s only true if you work hard and don’t let it get you too down.

    Hey Darren - great video! Do you have any english tutor recommendations?? Thanks 😁

    • @DarrenTan21
      @DarrenTan21  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Em! I tutor English but unfortunately am full. I was tutored by someone called Hamish Adams (old Xavier student) in Yr 10 and he was very helpful and tutored VCE too (I’m not sure whether he still tutors now, feel free to contact him). Otherwise I don’t have any personal experience with other English tutors…

    Hi Darren how long did you approximately study daily? Also did you have a specific routine for studying

    • @DarrenTan21
      @DarrenTan21  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Cuume! I didn’t time myself, but please check out my video on this topic. As with routine, I tried to get the less brainpower homework done quickly (hw questions, daily translations for Latin) even at lunch, and then focus on essays and my own revision of my weak points and studying for the next sac

    thanks for this video darren!!! btw i was wondering how you balanced both methods and spec during yr 12, and if you had any tutors? i was confident in 1/2 methods but not so much for 1/2 spec, therefore i have a tutor for spec only. but now i'm thinking it might be more beneficial to have a methods tutor only instead (can only do one for either subject) since the raw score for methods is more impactful than raw score for spec, and i feel like i could get high 40's if i had access to more methods resources, meanwhile im capped off at low 40's for spec? i hope that made sense, thanks for everything!

    • @DarrenTan21
      @DarrenTan21  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No worries Praneetha! I didn't find it particularly difficult to balance the two - they were just two subjects, and so it was nothing different to me doing Latin + English or another combination. I do think that Spesh makes Methods feel a little easier though. With tutors, I think if you're confident in 1/2 methods you should do okay with 3/4 methods because they have quite a lot of overlap. Spesh will actually pay dividends if you improve a lot (perhaps with a tutor) because of the scaling. Another suggestion is to find someone who can tutor either subject depending on your needs. Hope that helps!

      Yes - Derrick Ha for Spesh, 新金山 + private tutors for Chinese, an MLC teacher for Methods in Yr 11
