your voice is very calming also i know getting sleep is very important but some nights ive had to stay up pretty late for assessments, so just wondering if there were many nights that you were up past midnight cos that's how I've been going recently haha. and if that has a big effect overall
Thank you Jezza! That’s a very nice compliment. Yes that’s ‘normal’ and I did stay up late between 12-1 a bit (usually around sacs and exam time). You don’t want it to happen too much cos it decreases your overall efficiency. Just make sure you’re actually ‘forced’ to go to bed late, and it’s not because you started hw at 11pm. Hope that helps!
Test not sac? Honestly glad you can identify your mistakes now. Maths exam are heavily weighted, don’t sweat it and it can still be one of your best subjects!
Hello! The GAT is completed by everyone who sits a 3/4 subject in that year. It has nothing to do with medicine. The GAT is supposed to assess your natural intelligence and is used a bit to see if your study scores match and is also used if you miss an exam.
Hey Darren! So I've been asking a lot past students and even some of my teachers this question which is if you went back to VCE right now, do you think you can get 99.95 but since you did get it, i'll ask, do you think you can do better this time around? Also what would you do differently or what would you do to improve?
Hey Vandan! Very nice question. I definitely think I'd get 99.95, but I wouldn't be too sure about 'doing better.' No matter how much I improve in my other subjects, I have to ensure one 50 in either of the Englishes, which involves a bit of luck (when compared to scoring 49). I think that I can improve in my Maths subjects, but have a slimmer prospect of bettering my Latin score, and an even smaller chance of improving in Chinese SL. Chem, could definitely improve, but it will be my 7th regardless. Of course, if I was forced to repeat VCE, that'd be a whole other ball game because I'd go in with the belief that I could score 50 in all my subjects. Things I'd change: find more preventative ways to minimise silly mistakes in maths spend more effort on chemistry have a better knowledge of the metalanguage for English Language Practise more essays in Chinese SL Communicate more with students from other schools in Latin
Hey Aria! That's so cool, thanks for clarifying about the language! My short answer is that I don't think it's too hard. But there are so many variables - I see it as not too hard because I've always been achieving highly at a highly ranked school. For someone who struggles with their studies and attends an average school, 90+ ATAR could be the dream, and that viewpoint is just as justified. It's all relative!
Hi Darren, is it possible to get a 40 study score in English with C+ as the average for my SAC results so far if I perform really well on the English exam and get like 8 or 9 on all three sections? Am I still able to recover from my bad grades or is it already too late to the extent to which it is irrevocable, and I should just give up on my dream and focus on my stronger subjects instead, as there is only one SAC remaining, which is the comparative essay.
Hey Razengan! Definitely don’t give up on English - it has to be in your top four and the comparative is worth a tonne of marks. You can definitely recover - if you’re in the C+ range doing better on the exam will help you a lot because there’s a lot of room to improve. I’m not too sure on the specific numbers but 9/10 for all three sections will surely be 40+.
Hi Darren, it’s me again LOL. I’m not doing so well in my sacs- around a C+ for basically all my subjects, if i grind this term ( unit 4 ) and get 80-90s and be around upper middle rank, do you think i have a chance at getting a 40+? 🫣
@@DarrenTan21 Thanks Darren! Also im having trouble in English language AC and essay writing, will you have a video on this soon? or any recommendations on how to improve/ structure one? I appreciate you and your hard work :)

I'd be happy with any of your study scores lmao.
Haha appreciate it Alex

I got an 82% (B+) for my integration test, I thought methods was gonna be my best subject and I can’t stop thinking about it 😭

Personally I would rank business management an S+ because I can now manage my own business
I personally rank specialist maths S+ because I can specialise my maths
Amazing study scores!! Did you have a tutor for each of your VCE subjects?
Thank you Krishane! Yes for Spesh and Methods and occasional sessions for Latin
Hey Darren!
Amazing video once again. I’m a bit confused about what the GAT is for. Does everyone need to do the GAT if they are aiming for medicine?

Hey Darren, who were ur methods and spesh teachers
Hey EleK, I had Mr Peckham for Yr 11 Methods, Mr. Woolacott for Yr 12 Methods and Mr Peckham for Yr 12 spesh

Hi Darren thanks for the video, how hard is getting 90+ in your opinion. Btw, that language is either persian or arabic :)

When you repeated methods how disproportional would you say the ss was to the effort that was put in?
It was the same score as Yr 11 - I learned a little more throughout the year in class but wasn’t very rigorous with my home and exam prep.
Did you just say your spesh teacher scored 6 50s???
He did indeed! 6 50s + 48 English (Derrick Ha)
this is the biggest flex lmao
