= For this piece I used the following:
✨PIÑATA Alcohol Inks from Jacquard (all are in the Exciter pack):
    Señorita Magenta
    Passion Purple
    Baja Blue
    Rainforest Green
🔹 I strongly, STRONGLY recommend this “Exciter Pack” (so appropriately named 😊) of 9 rich Piñata alcohol inks : amzn.to/2G2tkAB
    🔺For Canadians: amzn.to/2HzXn3c
✨NOTE: If you don’t use my link, make sure the Exciter pack you order says PIÑATA because Jacquard has other Exciter packs for acrylics and airbrush inks too.✨
** [Please note, this is my personal, unbiased opinion ... I will always only share things I love using and fully believe will make your heart sing too. ] **
🔹 91% Isopropyl Alcohol (or stronger)... MUCH cheaper to buy this in your drugstore or places like Walmart, Target, etc.
    🔹 This was done on a 5x7” canvas panel : amzn.to/2uJGwWJ
🔹 The paint I used to make my easy border correction - DecoArt Americana Premium Titanium White: amzn.to/2A5dHZU
    = TOOLS =
🔹 The dental micro-brushes (also known as eyelash glue applicators):
    - for a set of 400 (4 packs of 100 in 4 different sizes & colors): amzn.to/2zW2o6l
    - for a pack of 100 in the size I used: amzn.to/2uSmOHj
🔹 The squeeze bottles that had the thinned alcohol ink
    - for a pack of 6: amzn.to/2qNs517
    - for a pack of 12: amzn.to/2qLBrKs
🔹 The squeeze bottle that had the isopropyl alcohol (with the blue nozzle) come in a pack of 5 from eBay (each of the 5 bottles comes with 7 different nozzles)... They will take 2 - 3 weeks to arrive but the pack costs less than $4 and that includes shipping!
    - ebay.to/2FpbMld
    = SEALING / VARNISHING =
To seal an alcohol ink piece I use a museum quality spray by Krylon: Kamar Varnish. Unlike most spray varnishes and acrylic sprays, it will not react with the alcohol inks. 🔹Here is a link: amzn.to/2jGh3KO
A UV Protecting spray can help minimize fading.

Something I've noticed about your videos compared to other people who are trying to teach art: I don't want to forward through anything that you do, but if I DID I would be able to understand where you were in the process, because you explain exactly and precisely what you're doing. With other teachers, one absolutely has to watch every second, and often waste time rewatching, because they're not explaining what the heck they're doing. Just wanted to say I appreciate your teaching style, very much.

When I first got my alcohol inks I started using them on canvas (I posted a picture on facebook and people went nuts telling me I couldn't use them on canvas lol, I'm with you, Myriam, I like the way they tune out) and then I got tired fast with the blowing, so I started using my airbrush to blow the paint around, works like a charm.
love the idea of using the alcohol to remove areas and adding dots. you did a beautiful job as always!!!!

Hi, loved the video! I've working with 6x6 tiles and am very interested into going to a larger piece. Canvas would be great.
I tried to work along side you and had some problems. How many drops of ink should be put in 1/2 a bottle of alcohol to mix? What speed and heat setting is the dryer on. My lines of ink were much wider than yours and had a difficult time drying them straight.

  • @janevincent7103
    @janevincent7103 6 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi Myriam. And yet another wonderful project I plan to try thanks to you. Your stuff turns out so well. And adore your color choices. I just used your links to order the needle tip Darice bottles (12), the Titanium white paint, 12 treated canvases, and some Kamar Museum quality spray preservative. I will be trying these techniques as soon as Amazon can get the supplies to me. I bought the Pinata exciter pack 2 years ago and they are still fine. It seems like you prefer them over Ranger inks. They are definitely richer in color and dilute well in 91% alcohol. I have two bottles diluted already from another project I will work on ( the silky looking alcohol ink on Duralar (I will use Yupo as I have it). I love your work and you take so many chances at trying new things. Brave girl. I am hoping it rubs off on me as I sometimes freeze with a white sheet of gorgeous watercolor paper. I'm blazing through the silly fear though and you've helped a lot. Thank you. JaneXOXO

    • @MyriamsNature
      @MyriamsNature  6 ปีที่แล้ว

Hi Jane! I do tend to prefer the Piñata inks because of their rich pigments. They are fun to thin and blend and have beautiful color.
I think you will thoroughly enjoy the supplies you got! About the feeling of near terror in front of a blank piece of paper I can relate. For alcohol inks try playing on freezer paper. It’s easy to find at the grocery store, it’s cheap and the inks move beautifully on it. I use it a lot, guilt-free😁 for experimenting .
If you are on Facebook, please send me a message at facebook.com/MyriamsNature ... I would like to be able to send you a note. 😊💕 Thank you so so much for your incredibly kind and thoughtful comments!

wonderful Myriam, was wondering if it would work on Canvas paper. I have some at home, must give it a go. It works really well with copics so should do. You are so clever, love how you have done this.

So happy to see ink on canvas. I am new to alcohol ink and was wondering if using canvas was possible.

Great video Myriam, love watching and listening to you, and as usual very informative, may I ask after part 2, would you consider a video on a canvas primed with Latex ?

    Hi Myriam
I love your work. You should use a little bit of clear gesso on the edge of the tape. I do that often and it works🌸🌸🌸🌸 or even white

Try Green Forg's tape to mask the edges. It is a painter's tape designed to prevent paint from bleeding under the tape when painters are painting a wall next to other colors or with stripes, etc.

Jacquard make a milk based resist medium for fabric (cotton canvas), so you CAN create an edge.It basically rolls off with a damp paper towell. You have to be very careful using those little dotting tools..the sponge is SO light...it is very easy to nick the surface of your paper/canvas and leave a white mark that you can't get rid of.

I smile through your videos. Another video I watched had a great tip for a no bleed white you may like for border clean up. It’s made by dr ph Martin. Bleed proof white.

Awesome tutorial and I totally enjoyed it ! One question tho’ do you need to apply a protective layer of varnish over the finished project? I wondered if the alcohol ink will fade over time if not sealed? Thank you for sharing!

Thank you for this fun & interesting technique. Could a thick layer of gesso be added to the canvas to make it smoother and still work with the alcohol inks?

I am watercolor ignorant Kristen. What is a ground... is it like a medium? What do you recommend? 😊

Myriam's Nature its basically an absorbent ground that allows use of watercolor or acrylic inks on practically anything. They say it makes it like cold pressed paper. I tested it with my AI and loved the results. I only have tried Daniel Smith white, but they make a gold that I really want to try. I just painted it on the canvas in layers like gesso, let it cure and painted away with my inks. I don't see a way to share the photo of my test painting of the AZ sunset, but it turned into one of my favorites.

Please reuse the plastic handle brushes as long as possible. They are not recyclable. Lovely effect Myriam.

I absolutely do Carmen. I realize that the fluid art community is definitely using a lot of plastic so I try my best to buy things that are easy to reuse. Thank you for the kind words!

I have just come across alcohol ink and these Myriam videos. It is blowing my mind. Myriam, your videos and teaching methods are fantastic, your voice is calm and soothing, and I can see everything you are doing because of the fine video work. I have been looking for a creative outlet, and I believe this is something I can do. I tend to allow things to accumulate, so do people sell their pieces or give them as gifts. Also, is the ink permanent with regard to water and any liquid other than alcohol?

Would you say the little brushes work better than a dotting stylus? I have a couple different sizes of ball styluses and am wondering if the same look can be achieved using those.

If I wanted less of the canvas texture showing thru, could I put down a base layer of acrylic and let it dry before starting the ink process?

Hey Ms. Myriam, have you tried masking painter's tape or masking fluid to keep the border clean? I know that masking fluid works good blocking out watercolors. I was just curious. I use masking tape on almost all my art work. I'm enjoying watching and learning from you. Thank you for sharing your techniques, experiments and outcomes. As Mr. Bob Ross says, those "Happy Accidents"🥰. Big hugs from long distance. 😊

Hi Myriam, i saw someone use a latex paint on canvas (it's called kilz 2 latex),to create a layer so that you can also paint on canvas as if you're painting on a synthetic paper . If you know anything about it, can you also make a video how to use it?
