@Jeff Williams, LonnieJohnson1 & DatBoi Kenny I hear you all !! My fuel Lines or Tubes didn't wanna come off. I sprayed them with some Blaster PB and let them sit overnight but the metal adapter going into the fuel filter was just too far gone. Great Video !! It helped me out a LOT. Thx, Tim B.
the barbed fittiing will be the excellent choice providing you are just fixing a break in the line.. just remember not to cut off more than you need too..other wise you will come up short when tryimg to install it back. if your trying to repair this while it is still attatched to the fuel tank inline some where i suggest that you take the extra time and effort to remove both ends of the broken line and repair it outside.. electrical devices near gas vapours can cause unnessary trip to the morgue or worse to the burn unit at the hospital.. even a hairderyer iwouldnt trust ..one spark and bam!! -
Hi. Thanks a lot for getting back to me. I ended up figuring out that tool but I wanted to say thanks for the video you made on you know heating up that that fitting or insert to go. You know to push that island on and melt it on there that works really good so keep up the good work, buddy.
On the nylon barbed fittings as a precaution or a added insurance I put a little JB weld around the nipple before putting on the hose / on the inline splices shown here I use Jb weld again and put some around the nylon wher eis joined and wrap it up with some electrical tape as a security measure . I bought one of those ready made repair kits and came up 7 inches short on the line i needed to fix. I wound up using the nylon tube off the vapor canister to the intake it works just fine now, i just replaced the line with a regular vacum hose amd all ids wekk now
@@LonnieJohnson1 It worked after putting a barbed fitting in place is what i should have used to beggin with,,oh well a 50 dollar lesson .. LO! and i did cover it with jb weld and while it was still plyable i wrapped some black electrical tape around it to make a nice tight seal .. not much jb but enough
@@LonnieJohnson1 so I also replaced the metal line on the other side but more to the rear where the other bracket was at it was rusted out and started to leak. Should I just buy the line that goes all the way to the back or cut out that section and replace it too. Would two sections being repaired like that sound like a bad idea?
awesome ty great video and very helpful. I'm replacing fuel ling going into back of fuel filter. The quick connect broke while removing it from fuel filter.
My line took a special tool, but the fuel pump and seal was in such bad condition that I had to replace the fuel pump, lines, fittings and everything even the sensor so I just cut the lines.
sir; thank you for your effort to show us the solution you made, just i want know if i can use brass or copper union not stainless steel which are available here.
the brass barbed fittings work beutifull.. shark bites i have not found to be very usefull in this paticular appilication just like quick disconnects wont work in my case on a 3/8 or a 5/16 nylon line
What type of fuel line is this? I am not sure what my RV fuel line is made of. I am guessing rubber since a guy tried to fix and put a couple hose clamps on it. Can this work with rubber and do you have to use hose clamps? Thanks!
It's a hard plastic, not rubber. If you use rubber you will need to use a permanent clamp that wont work loose. Also depending on were the hose is connected you might get away with regular clamps. You don't want to have to take your gas tank back off if it starts leaking.
If your reading this I hope it’s not to late. My problem was the 90 degree couple kept getting blown away from the pressure in hindsight it failed to lock to the fuel pump. Bought the new piece and it’s hard to get on… so remove the locking piece from your new couple and place it on your old one and would believe works like new😅
Yes any auto store or Amazon will have the clips they're called quick connectors. you just have to know the size of the fitting for your hose is it 5/16 3/8 etc
I need to do this, under the car too. Most videos only show how to do this on the bench. Great info here! Do you use the high or low setting on the heat gun? What do you reccomend to do if I don't use enough heat, and the barb on gets halfway on? Thanks 🍺👍!!
High heat for 30 sec. If you only have low heat I would add another 15 to 30 sec to the time. The barb will start cooling as soon as you insert the tube and needs to be fully inserted. Push it on as fast as you can, or you will have to pull it apart and repeat the process.
@@LonnieJohnson1 this video saved me at least $800, and was the best video I could find on how to install these type of connectors. They wanted $250 for the tow, and $550 to replace the whole line. I had a rabbit or a squirrel chew on my fuel line. As if that wasn't bad enough I'm lucky the car didn't catch on fire when I went to start it. Using a heat gun was the best way and I'm thankful for your video!
Finally found a video of someone using one of these damn kits. They make a tool to do this but I'm not spending $100 for a tool all only use once. I was wondering if you could get by with a heat gun.
I tried using this method after a buddy of mine broke the quick connector coming outta the fuel filter, this "kit" is nothing more than a"band-aid", a VERY temporary "fix".......within 2 months, it somehow sprang a fuel leak while I was driving.....the cheap ass fuel line somehow sliid most of the way off of the metal insert, which naturally added about an inch and 1/2 of length to the line, and then it ended up getting crimped, which caused the fuel leak.....so, the money and effort saved by going this route was negated by the fact of being broke down at a traffic light in a high traffic areas and then the cost of the tow fee.....all around, just a complete half ass shortcut way of fixing the issue
Finally someone actually on the ground fixing a fuel line
I know what you mean.
I did mines on the ground, no video! 😅

I was headed back to return this POS kit when I saw your trick. Thank you very much!!

I had to heat the connector, I used a propane torch. I also held the tubing with a clamp vise for a flaring tool.
The connector is all that needs heated.

How do you remove that type of quick connect from the fuel line?
My line took a special tool, but the fuel pump and seal was in such bad condition that I had to replace the fuel pump, lines, fittings and everything even the sensor so I just cut the lines.
Great idea💡👍👀❤️love it
Thanks
Follow up question is it stillworking🤔@@LonnieJohnson1
Yes
Thanks, Cool!
Is that the line going to the fuel pump? Can you do that to both the pressure line and return line?
How did you cut the old line?
It was leaking so I sliced it and connected a new line. It was the pressure line I fixed.
My car's fuel injector's hose is leaking, is there a tape to fix it at least temporary or a stopgap measure?
If it's the injector then it could be under pressure and the line has failed.
How to figure out if it's under pressure? @@LonnieJohnson1
You said it was leaking at the injector, start there and see where the leak is.
It's leaking from the hose actually, it's cracked hose @@LonnieJohnson1
Hi how did you disconnect the fuel line at the union or factory split it was on the end of the piece you were holding at the end of your video
There is a tool you can purchase to remove the connector.

Phenomenal advice.

So wait a minute, I don't need a compression fitting? And how is your new piece clamped on the old line? Or is it?
The fit is so tight it doesn't need a clamp.
Thanks for sharing. Creative.
Your welcome. Thanks.
There is 2 sizes so which side it from the tank and which size to the engine ?
The package show what size I used
Had you tried the dorman shark bite fuel line connector?
They don't make one with the clip on connection to the fuel pump. You can get a union to join two lines together as you would do a slice.
the brass barbed fittings work beutifull.. shark bites i have not found to be very usefull in this paticular appilication just like quick disconnects wont work in my case on a 3/8 or a 5/16 nylon line
Damn! I need to do this but up around the front passenger wheel to replace the connector to the fuel filter. Not a lot of room to work there.
I pull out as much as I could and later realized I could have un-clipped the complete line and pulled it out from under the truck.
Where do you get fuel line for 1993 Jeep Wrangler 4.0?? Line from door to engine. Return line
You can get it from Amazon and make it yourself. It comes with all the fittings.

What if the fuel line is broken where the filter connects.

No, what's crazy is people smoking cigarettes and cigars while pumping gas. Heat gun only puts out heat.

Bad idea gas and hair dryer boom 💥
Only if you put the dryer in the gas. Why would you do that? There shouldn't be any fumes unless you got a hole in the tank.
