      My grandparents bought a new 6 unit building in 1928, never had laundry in apartments, and the plumbing was said not to be able to handle the water pressure needed. You would have been laughed at for asking. Laundry was by hand, or you went to a public laundry.
      Also, home laundry in an apartment was a luxury for high-end buildings well after WW2, if not in the apartment, at least in the building. We are spoiled.

    In my apartment, I just got the black and Decker 0.9 cubic feet. Believe it or not, this little washing machine can wash a whole quilt. I had a panda 1.3 cubic feet. It lasted for 4 years, which is great, but it felt cheap. Black and Decker or Whirlpool make premium products. You got the right brand. I Have a panda portable dryer and it's still working great.. I will say your landlord needs to work on the paint in the hallway. Not a good look

    Very comprehensive run down on this larger size B & D unit. I was tempted to get the.9 cu foot model (cold water only) but you’ve made me see the light. I love a hot water wash & multiple rinse cycles! Great job and I’d back up the stocking with a metal mesh filter for your sink drain, too. New clothes shed more lint than clothes that have been washed several times. 5 *****!

    Your video was very important about using a stocking for lint catching in the washing machine. I hadn’t been doing that. My washer hadn’t caught any lint, ever. At all. My dryer was catching a lot of lint. A whole lot of lint. How much of that lint 😮that might’ve been going down my tub drain had I not watched your video; could have been disruptive to my living situation. Thank you for showing the lint sock from the washing machine. No one else had shown that. And I mean no one. Only you. I watched dozens of videos before I watched yours. So, tomorrow I’m gonna use a stocking for my washing machine, as well. I’m really good at checking the lint trap in the washer and both the dryer. Before and after each usage, I check them both. But your lint sock on the washer was a real eye opener. I’ve only washed about 6 loads, so far as I was working out the kinks for use and management of the washer and dryer. Thank you so much. You’ve really got your shit together, girl.
    I have a different manufacturer for both my washer and my dryer. My size is the same for the washer, and slightly larger for my dryer. My apartment is smaller than yours appears to be. But I have both machines in my bathroom, for permanent use. Both use 110W. for the electricity. Mine fills in from my hose attached to face sink, and drains into my tub. I’m single, elderly, and my child and 😅grandchildren are grown and live on their own. So I needed an apartment sized washer and dryer.
    Get the rolling caster dolly. You can move the machine much easier. It’s about $25.00 for each. Plus when it’s on the dolly, it’s kind of a buffer to the apartment below. Also, I financed my appliances, too. In addition, if you make sure to put a 36” by 48” mattress pad under the washer, you will not ruin your flooring or, your neighbors ceiling. The dolly will roll right on top of the pad with no problem. And it’s an extra noise buffer. It’s the kind of pad that is quilted on one side, and protective on the other side. If you worked in a senior care facility or hospital you’d know what I’m talking about. Buy 2. You can wash one, and change one. Never have a wet floor.
    Thank you for your time. Good luck, and G_d bless. 😊❤

      Awww thank you !! I’m happy that you enjoyed the video and it was helpful to you and yess I still have yet to get the dolly but I am going to get one so I can move it around easier and I have noticed some water comes out of the hose so I place it inside the dryer vent ( where the water is sitting ) when I’m not using the washer to avoid from it spilling on the floor.

    I used to have that system of two machines in my condo. One washer and another a dryer. But now I switch to a combo washer/dryer all in one machine. The hook-up is simpler, there is no need for a vent, and it's a space saver. Plus, you put in the dirt clothes, and you take them out clean and dry.

    Thanks for a great review. Getting a washer and dryer for an elderly friend who lives in a senior facility and has to use a common laundromat shared by multiple residents.
    One suggestion: using two detergent pods in this size washer is waaaay too much soap. I would use only one (and even that is a lot because pods are designed for full-sized washers). I would use liquid detergent since it is easier to control the amount.

    Lovely video, if understand correctly this machine has no heating element to heat up cold tab water to 40/60 degrees? You have to pre adjust the focit to the right temperature, right? Do you get a signal when to start rinsing with cold water? It is a nice way to control the bill if this works that way.

    • @thegiftofgabbz9360
      @thegiftofgabbz9360  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Hey so the machine I have has 2 outlets one for cold one for hot. The washer has the option to wash hot cold or warm but it rinses cold . Now the trick for that is if you use the cold side ( to wash hot or warm ) when it’s time to rinse it will pull cold water . The machine only rinses with cold. If you try that w the hot side the washer will stop at the rinse cycle and will not move forward . When I get a better spot I want to connect both hoses but since I’m using my sink I jus use one side to do all temps . I hope I explained it clear . My building has hot water included in my rent so I don’t have a water bill but it’s supposed to be an energy saver

If you get the black and decker brand be sure to get an indoor vent kit as the dryer only comes with the white piece it doesn’t come with the foil piece . If you have the option you can also use outside or have the vent part outside

    I've got this dryer coming on Monday and I'm super excited to try it out! I have a washer too, but it's a different brand. Do you have to have this brand washer elevated to be able to drain the water? The one that I have now is like that. It's a gravity washer, which means that you have to have it elevated higher than whatever you're draining the water into.

    • @thegiftofgabbz9360
      @thegiftofgabbz9360  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello , yes you leave the water on the entire time it’s running . It’s like a regular machine so it will stop filling when the load amount is reached . It will also alert you if there is not enough water. There is a certain code that pops up . You will need to restart the washer and change the load size amount the water will add onto what is already in the washer and then proceed to wash the clothes . It will also rinse so that’s why you need to leave it on if you turn off before the rinse cycle it won’t complete the load . Once the washer is done completely it will beep a few times you can turn it off then I usually turn it off after rinse cycle if I remember otherwise I turn it off when it’s done

    Is the dryer a 110? I just got the 1.7 washer and plan to get the dryer and the rack to set it on after I get the washer paid off. Until then i bought a portable drying rack. It's just me, so not a lot of laundry. Did you have to use any plumbers pipe tape for the cap on the hot water inlet? I know I had some somewhere, but can't find it now. I am so ready to try my washer. Did you put the bottom cover on your washer? I read it's optional. I can't figure it out, cuz can't turn it up to see it. I'm old. lol But not too old to learn something new! I've learned something from you about the lint. I'd have never thought about using a nylon on the drain hose. Thanks for the great video.

    Can you wash your comforter in it like a cover

    • @thegiftofgabbz9360

      So far I have washed my daughters twin size comforter and dried it in the dryer . I would wash a queen size by itself and let it air dry.

    Hi, I hope here someone can help me, I just purchased a second hand dryer, which is exactly the same as the one in this video. Unfortunately the middle knob is missing ( I didn't notice it until I started to use it). Is it a timer or control for temperature? I'm so confused. If anyone can help answer this question? I really appreciate it!

      Hello hun , which knob is missing ? I only have one knob on the front which shows the temp for the dryer. It will still work without the knob ( kind of hard to turn ) but it will work maybe contact company to have another knob sent or try Home Depot to see if they have a replacement knob you can use

      Thank you so much for such a quick response!!! yes, it's the knob in the middle one missing. I called the company, they have no knob to replace. I will try Home Depot. Can you please tell me the middle one is for temp? My machine works, but it's still cold. Where is for timer then? I'm sorry, I'm asking so many questions. I really appreciate it!@@thegiftofgabbz9360

      Hey hun it really depending on the size. I got mine from Lowe’s and spent $1000 altogether and that was with the vent kit etc. I would say try amazon first . Also I’m on the first floor but have ppl in the basement units under me and haven’t had a complaint about noise when I use it so I say go for it .

      @The Gift Of Gabbz I should receive the dryer today. Just got the B&D washer 3.0 yesterday did a test run and it's awesome. Bigger capacity than than my previous apartment style double stack which I hated. My wife loves the modern look . I have a family of 4 so the washer and dryer should meet our needs. Hopefully they doesn't overload the breaker since I have to use the same outlet.
      Thanks for the video it helped my wife and I decision to go with these!

      @@DoritosResidue Your welcome glad I can help and what I can say is maybe use the dryer for half the time before using the washer for the next load. I’m in an apartment as well and have both Running while using my oven an everything else and so far nothing has tripped the circuit even with the AC running so I think you should be fine . It’s not like a reg dryer it uses less power which is why it will take longer to dry clothes my clothes are pretty much if not 100% dry at the 120 mark on the dryer for 1 cycle . Towels however take longer so I have to run it twice . I prefer heat when drying as well .
