Wow, it really works. I got 4 more inches to get the back three out. They were 25 year old original plugs and were stuck on. 102,400 miles. Thank you. 😮
Next use a.c. Delco irridium plugs. And change wires. Good for. Next 100.000m. Torque those plugs dog. 10 lb.. And dielectric grease in boots. And.... Take some very fine sand paper and hit the coil towers and wipe. Dielectric grease. And clean cylinder plug holes with thread cleaner. It should really help doing this job right. Imo. Zoom!!!!!!!
You're awesome Jeff. Good information details are important you find ways to make it easy. You work on it and keep making it easier people will like come to hear you!
Thanks Bro! I liked many of your tips...like the carpet on the engine in order to make it comfortable to work on. Will be using the info i learned here on many other projects. Wisdom has been passed on.
Jeff that was awesome 💪Thank you so much for the vid it was excellent , Now in about a month I will buy a Grand Prix GTP May be a ‘98 or ‘06 !!! Thanks again,,,GOD BLESS🙏
For anyone who watches this video a simpler way is to remove 2 bolts on the alternator then loosen the bottom bolt and move the alternator out of the way then you can reach down and change your plugs. Simple.
Hats off sir , awesome video very helpful made the wires an plugs so much easier knowing exactly how to tilt the eng using a rachet strap ,thank you sir
Was unable to remove the plug boots after hours of trying, '07 Pontiac GP. So I just broke the plugs off. Either hit the metal shields with a large screwdriver or grab the plug shields with a vice grips or pliers and bend the plugs which will break them off leaving the metal threaded parts to be removed with a plug socket. You can blow around the remaining plug to clear any porcelain particles of broken plug. Also remove the coolant overflow tank on the passenger side and get access to the passenger side plug from the side of the engine. AND remove the oxygen sensor in order to get at the drivers side rear plug, of course after rocking the engine forward using a strap or pushing the car forward and blocking the rear tire then setting the parking brake, must still remove the front upper motor mounts. Last but not least I bent the lift bracket on the rear center of the engine forward to increase access. PITA but much easier if you use some quick tricks. I'm hoping new plugs and wires will correct the gargleing or rapid surging (2 per second) while under light throttle at highway speeds.
I feel these back plugs were meant to be done from underneath a shop lift jack so you can access them because there's a noticeable amount of space to reach in from below. I'm gonna have to do this I tried to jam my hand in and do this and it's a tough one. 3/6 done lol
I just had my plugs wires changed. no mounts need touched!! I guarantee it. !!!!!! I also cleaned mass air flow sensor. air temp Sensor throttle plate+ plugs wires in 1 hour!!!!!!! no mounts touched.!!!!!!!!
Yowsa..!!! Awesome And Very Helpful Video (Aside)… Do You Have Any Videos Showing Nerds Like Me How To Be Uber Cool, Like YOU ARE..? You Are Definitely THAT, And So Was Your Video 😛 Thank You..!!!
Dang looks like I get to change my plugs and wires. I've been hoping to find just this. I need to change my wires and plugs can I do them at the same time like one at a time?
A car needs a new radiator cab. Because your radiator hoses collapse and that's from a bad radiator cap. I learned not the hard way. Also, be careful not mounting your engine too forward because we'll pull on the transline. You know, and hope them in your transmission will be leaking.
this guy deserves recognition for his work
This is going to be revolutionary in self repairing my car. There is alot of pride in being able to do it yourself and also asking for help❤
I just learned something new today
and I just got an 05 Grand Prix base that just rolled 100,000

Thank you so much for this. Just changed my coils, wires, and spark plugs like a breeze.
I’ve been searching for this video. This is the way it is supposed to be done. Thanks for making this video.
This is a great idea. No editing of the video makes it like we are there. Thanks.
Wow, it really works. I got 4 more inches to get the back three out. They were 25 year old original plugs and were stuck on. 102,400 miles. Thank you.

Oh My Goodness!! I cant believe it. For the past 10 years Ive been doing it with the motor in place as is. Thanks!!! You're the best buddy!!
I don't see how you managed to get back there?

You saved me a lot of time Jeff thanks 👍.

Such a simple idea that makes the job easier, so glad I saw this before I started changing plugs and wires ... Thanks!
Never hurt to gain more knowledge
Omg thank you I have the same engine I will now go and get some spark plugs amazing
I’ve done this on my 3.8 Chevy venture... rocking the engine forward works but still a pita design...
How did i never think of this. Genius
Wow. Impressed! You just saved me a ton of time, heartache and pain or more likely.... "Yeah, those rear plugs will have to be fine" :-)

Jeff I f****ng love you. Thank you brother

I feel these back plugs were meant to be done from underneath a shop lift jack so you can access them because there's a noticeable amount of space to reach in from below. I'm gonna have to do this I tried to jam my hand in and do this and it's a tough one. 3/6 done lol
Thank you soooooo much!
Did mine twice wish I'd would thought of this lol
Thank you,Sir!!
Just did my plugs the hard way. Didnt remove the o2 sensor either. Took me a couple hours. Spark plug boots were stuck.
I came here for knowledge and left entertained because of your mannerisms. Thank you for posting this lol
Brilliant!
Glad it worked for you as well. 😀
Wow!! Thanks man! About to try it on 05 Buick lacrosse... that spark plug is an a$$
super .. thanks
Holy shit where has this video been
Thanks!
Same way I do mine. I like that flat radiator hose. How's the intake gaskets ? Eating coolant?
I just had my plugs wires changed. no mounts need touched!! I guarantee it. !!!!!! I also cleaned mass air flow sensor. air temp Sensor throttle plate+ plugs wires in 1 hour!!!!!!! no mounts touched.!!!!!!!!
Cool ,thanks ...
Thanks
its 2020 -I have a 2003 lesabre no front engine mounts so can I do the rear plugs from under the car
👌👌👌👌👌👌
Does the engine need to be supported from the bottom when taking off the mounts
Trans in N or P when moving engine forward?
Yowsa..!!! Awesome And Very Helpful Video (Aside)… Do You Have Any Videos Showing Nerds Like Me How To Be Uber Cool, Like YOU ARE..? You Are Definitely THAT, And So Was Your Video 😛 Thank You..!!!
Would this work to replace the power steering return lines? I have an 07 Grand Prix and the line is back there .
would this damage the cradle in any way if this maneuver has never been done
can you do this to change the oil pan gasket?
Dang looks like I get to change my plugs and wires. I've been hoping to find just this. I need to change my wires and plugs can I do them at the same time like one at a time?
Wow. We have an 06 Grand Prix at home. No supercharger. Water pump must suck to R/R on this car with that supercharger there.
What size is that O2 sensor on top of the exhaust manifold? It's not a 7/8. Is it about 5/8?
I can't get the metal sleeve off? Thanks
Can you use the ratchet strap to pull the block toward the back in order to do work on the front (like a compressor replacement)?
The compressor sits on the side the motor mount don't flex that way. Only front and back. Pretty much this is the only application
HI JEFF I HAVE A CHEVY LUMINA APV VAN WITH A 3.8 ENGINE CAN YOU GIVE A SUGGESTION ABOUT CHANGE THE SPARK PLUGS ON THE FIRE WALL SIDE?
A cuanto van calibradas las bujias
A car needs a new radiator cab. Because your radiator hoses collapse and that's from a bad radiator cap. I learned not the hard way. Also, be careful not mounting your engine too forward because we'll pull on the transline. You know, and hope them in your transmission will be leaking.
How did you release the strap under load? Wouldn't the engine's weight fall into the firewall if you released the tension?
As shown in the video. Your de ratcheting one click at a time until the engine is back into alignment with the front motor mount bolt holes.
... That's what she said...
If the ratchet strap fails, could you be trapped with your arm against the firewall?
Crybaby
The chance of that happening to a ratchet strap thats in good shape and under such a little load is next to zero. Not worth worrying about.
Does this work on all 3.8s? I have an 05 Buick LeSabre and I'm planning to do plugs and possibly wires. Just wanna know if it would work
I think it probably pretty close . Check your engine mounting configuration & go from there.
I tell everyone about this video who has the 3800 v6
Doesn't the car have to be in neutral?
NO
@@jeffl1460 ok. I thought I would screw up the transmission if it wasn't
I'm about to do this job in a hour ill let you know how they come out...the problem is those metal metal covers on plugs there a bitch
