      Hey Scotty I have a Cadillac DeVille 05 it's been running pretty great but lately I'm having symptoms of a blown head gasket as well as Warren Pistons I have 160,000 miles . I tried Blue devil. Not so great do you think it's worth it too get a rebuild I've been working on the car it's been a fun project but I bought it for $500 I probably sunk around 3 k into it so far should I dump it it's burning oil pretty good it rides fine my engine is not shaking yet but I can see it makes it in my coolant just need a word of wisdom

    • @dansanders340
      @dansanders340 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      Scotty recommends techron fuel treatment over detergent gas or other fuel treatments such as techron. He explains in a video that he has a friend in the oil industry who deals with gas and oil additives, and apparently techron is the only brand that lists the active carbon cleaning, other brands may have it, but there's a secrecy about all their additives, therefore most brands don't show any ingredients. I've had a great experience with techron btw, used it on 3 or 4 cars now, and i like it because not only does the car run like butter, but the oil stops getting black after just 2-3k miles (higher mileage cars). Part of getting cleaner oil is probably doing oil and filter changes every 3k when I can, but if you use techron on fresh oil it will make it relatively dirty. One time I saw chunks of carbon (salt grain sized) come out after using techron after the oil stopped turning black so quickly. Thought I'd let you and everyone else know since it's hard to find some of scottys videos sometimes. Last note, 2 of my cars were high mileage VW's that were sketchy (2nd was a 3.6 VR6 passat that i had from 292-310k before forced to sell after it sat for 3 or 4 months, and still ran perfect), and I also got compliments about having the cars running better than previous owners just from doing an oil and filter change, then running techron as directed right before another oil and filter change after 3k miles. Scotty recommended it, I trusted it, and it couldn't of turned out better, I've used detergent gas out of necessity and it made my cars run better, but only about half or a third of what techron did. Anyways, I need to get to sleep, lmao. If techron wants to hire me, here I am, lmao.

    And then there’s mine, pure black. I was given a car my aunt drove and my mom before her. It’s a 2003 Saturn Ion and I feel so bad for it. It was abused so much. Neither ever changed the spark plugs, my aunt never changed the oil and I don’t think my mom did before that which means the black sludge was like 60,000 miles and 8 years old, and so many other parts that should have been long replaced many times are still in there.

    • @Midala87
      @Midala87 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I just had this happen to me a few days ago. I had no clue what the problem was until I was able to replace the spark plug and ignition coil and realized the electrode tip was broken off and it was very black. I've been doing a lot of driving in the meantime and now I am scared if I ruined my engine. I no longer have any codes after replacing the plug and plan on replacing the other three plugs and coils soon. I think it happened because of an issue with antifreeze overheating and a few days before that I ended up hitting a rock on the road that jolted my car badly and had to replace a tire. My tee connector broke completely off leaving me stranded and I managed to fix that after getting it towed to the dealership that had the part I luckily ordered ahead of time. I ended up putting the wrong OAT coolant in and it's not overheating per say but the temps are sometimes reaching 126 for a few seconds at traffic lights. Vehicles are a pain. I'm just scared that I didn't F UP the engine already.

    • @davids.3725
      @davids.3725 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@Midala87 well when I took mine to get checked out by my mechanic at first he said I'm screwed, I'd need to replace the entire engine, but he had me turn my car on just to see what the engine was doing...it was running normal and he immediately said "oh you're fine."...according to him, if it had messed up anything, he said the engine would be shaking pretty violently....so based off my experience, if your engine isn't shaking violently, and you're not tripping any codes, you should be alright.....if you've been driving it since that happened, the damage would already have been done and it you'd be able to tell for sure.
      I'd definitely get the coolant situation fixed asap and replace the other sparkplugs asap too just for safe measure.
      Yeah, I'm definitely glad I got rid of that car...it was one problem after another...I loved it though, I learned a lot cus I did all the work myself, aside from changing a timing belt, I had my mechanic do that...but it came to a point I wanted a reliable newer car, and circumstances changed eventually to where I could.
      Hope everything turns out alright for you, car problems definitely aren't fun...hang in there, it gets better eventually 🤙

    Auto Trans 2012 Toyota Corolla 60K city miles, it's recommended to replace front differential oil and replace transmission fluid under 3 conditions of driving while towing, using a car-top carrier, or heavy vehicle loading. None of 3 applies to it but as I mentioned it's city driven only and my mom is planning to keep it and I'd like to keep it healthy.
    I'd appreciate if you give me your recommendation and again no hard feelings if you don't I'd still be grateful to watch your videos.

    I put in spark plugs and the very next day I took it in to get the timing set. They claim they couldn't do it because the plugs were bad. I told them I only drove 4 miles on the car but they still claimed they were bad. I never went back there again and told everyone I could not to go there.

    And in some newer vehicles the spark plugs can even tell the cars computer how well the mixture is burning, even detect preignition very interesting stuff

    I had the diode tip break off of one of my spark plugs once. I was extremely lucky and it got sucked out of the exhaust.
