I’d recommend the preservative Nipaguard I use CA/20 But I made a magnesium Lotion and used beeswax n it turned out perfect. I’d be more then happy to share my recipe.
Cetearyl alcohol is a fun ingredient, because it can be used as an additional emulsifier but it is also frequently used as a pearlizing agent, since it typically makes the emulsion semi-opaque and a pearly white (before you add in anything with some color, such as a cold-pressed carrier oil or pigments.) Apparently allantoin can also do this, though I use it because it helps prevent irritation while stimulating cell turnover. I do think that I need to change my carrier oil, as I suspect that my skin doesn't agree with jojoba oil very well. Interesting things to note: colloidal oatmeal is often included not because it is beneficial on its own, but because it acts similarly to both a hydrolyzed protein and also as a humectant to hold both moisture and other active ingredients to the skin. It's also useful as a thickener and as an additional emulsifier. Pretty cool stuff, and broadly considered to be hypoallergenic, so it won't cause irritation. I don't have any at the moment, so I've been using hydrolyzed silk protein powder for a similar effect. If you don't like the mucilaginous texture that xanthan gum can sometimes provide, you can opt for any number of other hydrocolloidal emulsifiers such as gum arabic (acacia gum) or carrageenan. Various lecithin sources are also an option, with soy lecithin being by far the cheapest. Depending on your skin type, you may want to skip the emulsifying wax, but it does help to make a more stable emulsion that doesn't separate easily. Overall, this is a very solid recipe for a relatively basic soothing body wash. I would opt for a different carrier oil, personally, because I strongly dislike shea butter and olive oil in my skin care. My skin just doesn't appreciate them and I'm not hugely fond of the scent. I've tried jojoba oil and it also isn't ideal for my needs (I suspect that the waxy ester content is too high for my skin's needs so it dries before my skin can absorb it properly), so I'll probably switch over to an even lighter oil like camellia seed oil, possibly mixed with rose hip oil. I'm still learning and trying to find what works best with my skin and whether or not it is legitimately possible to create a body wash that can handle all of my basic skin care needs, since I'm too lazy and forgetful to handle a proper skin care regimen.
Hello Elise I love looking forward to seeing your videos. They are very enjotable and informative too. I would like to know more about natural surfactants. Thank you again for great videos.
Omg when you said Oat you caught my Attention it’s so hard to find high concentration colloidal oat body wash that is formulated good oat & Shea together is heaven on the skin 😍
Ok, dumb question. Can you use this formula as a shampoo? I did that and it's a great shampoo! It gave my hair a lot of body and moisture. It felt great!
Thanks for the tips and tricks. I have a question, what resources do you use to familiarize yourself with the ingredients and recipes you make? Are there any books you recommend or articles that I’d be able to do research as well? I’m really interested in looking more into how and why all of these ingredients react to each other and their effects and benefits on our skin 😁
After trying n number of formulas , Elise is the most stable formula that works for me perfectly. What I like about Elise is , the formula are simple and steps are easy to follow for beginners
La receta es extraordinaria. El problema está en cuando necesitas una cantidad razonable para que dure un poco más. Es el precio de los surfactantes. Por 100 g no es caro si haces un litro es muy costoso.
Pls do make video on different types of surfactant available.. at times it gets confusing. Lots of love♥️ your videos are amazing and very insightful ✨
Hi Elise, thanks for sharing this wonderful video. I did try it but it didn't turn out well🤣. Not much lather. I printed the recipe from your website and followed that. The website stated 20g of cocamidopropyl betaine. However the video states 60g. I guess this is why it didn't lather well. Could you, or anyone else who has tried it confirm if it's 20g or 60g. Many thanks and keep them coming XxX
Thank you Elise. Looks like a wonderfully cleansing yet gentle formula. I have been following you for a while and now a subscriber. Best of luck with this channel!
Hi, your above ingredients is for 240ml. You put 60g cocam and 60g decyl but at your website measurement for 240ml is 72g decyl and 24 cocam. Which one true?
Hi! Olive emulsifier is the same as olivem 1000? Can I don't use Cetyl Alcohol? And finally can I use cosgard as preservative, is what I have? Thanks so much for this formula. 😊
Hi Maria, they're both olive-derived but Olivem 1000 is a particular brand of emulsifier - you should be able to use either in this recipe. As mentioned, the recipe in the video doesn't include cetyl alcohol so you can just follow the tutorial's instructions. I haven't used cosgard but if it's a broad-spectrum preservative it can be used here but please follow it's direction on how much you'll need to add. Hope that helps 😊
Hi elise!!! Thank you for this awesome video. I just tried your recipe and when i added the same surfactants to the water (i used hibiscus water), it turned brown and then green?! Im not sure what i’m doing wrong… any tips?! Ive searched everywhere
Hi WholeElise, I've been enjoying your channel and can't stop watching more of your vids, thanks I love your energy. Do you ever experiment with Castille soap?
I really appreciate your sharing. I have a question what can I use instead of Decyl glucoside cos it have a really bad smell although I put essential oil in it. I hope you will answer my question and thank you so much.
Hello ty so much for this recipe. I am in the States (US), what would I look for for the preservatives ECO. I am not finding that exact name and just want to make sure I am getting the right product.
Hi Elise, I absolutely love your videos and have found them very educating as I wanted to make skin and hair care products that were stable and more professional. Can the Preservative ECO in this formula be replaced with Optiphen Plus?
Encuentro maravilloso todo lo que haces, aunque me cuesta entender porque no hablo inglés. Podrías colocar subtítulos en español? Un abrazo desde Santiago de Chile.🤗
Can I use oat milk instead of just water and can we add honey? Got addicted to the oat milk and honey soap so I was wondering if it can also be awesome if it was a body wash
Thanks for explaining the difference between the two surfactant and also letting us know we can use just one surfactant. If we choose to use only the decyl glucoside do we double the amount since we’re not using the second surfactant? Also I too would love to see a video explaining the different surfactants
I can't wait to try this recipe. I really love the way you explain the science behind making the products. What is the difference between this body wash and one made with potassium hydroxide? In other words, is one better than the other or are they just different.
Hello wholselise am trying to make a creamy body wash of 10liter with this recipe slsa cocobetina emlisfying Shea butter sunflower oil distilled water glycerin xatham gum I want give to people has a gift for coming to my baby birthday how do make for that large amount thank you

Hi! I recently made this shower wash. I'm not a fan of the smell the cetyl alcohol gives it. Even after adding essential oils, I can still smell the cetyl alcohol a bit. Is it necessary to use it or can I leave it out? Otherwise, I really love the consistency and feel of th body wash.
Greetings. Wholeelise, I made this same creamy bodywash and the smell really through me off. Decyl Glucoside smells like metal...I cannot use it. Wholeelise, do you have any idea what I did wrong. I followed your video instructions.
Great video and thanks for sharing your knowledge. Question can decyl glucoside be substituted with coco glucoside not even sure if it's the same thing it is a natural surfactant.
Absolutely, you might notice a slight difference in their foaming capabilities but they're both mild non-ionic surfactants so you can substitute one for the other in this recipe 😊
