I have been struggling with making shower gel. There's always something wrong until I found this recipe. Thanks so much for sharing. It's perfect now and so easy
I feel a lot more confident in trying to make these. My coffee scrub is popular and the face cream that goes with it is as well. Thanks, Tara! You are awesome!
Hi Tara, tried this and first batch was AMAZING............changed fragrance and turned to pure water consistency. HOWEVER, all is not lost.........salt thickens this formula beautifully. Thanks for all your great videos Lori
@@tameraclark655 yes, sodium chloride (table salt - NON iodized ) is used as a thickener in many body washes & shower gels. Can't use too much or too little, many videos on it. Works on many surfactants but not all. I think Tara has a link to another persons channel in her playlists.
Hey, great video! Thank you for the comprehensive guide. I believe the addition of Essential Oil resulted in an emulsion, that maybe slowly coalesced or just changing emulsion drop size over the 1 week time. Would be nice to observe under microscope!! 😃
this is very detailed, thank you for the step-by-step tutoring, my question is, can you add essential oils or any oils to these body wash? I am a novice, sorry if my question is out of place
This is a wonderful and simple to follow formula. What I would like to know is if you or anyone know if its possible to add Jojoba or any other oil to the formula and If so - how?
Thanks for this detailed Making video I just used 3 or 4 times a face mask when handling SCI powder bcoz it’s hard to find a half face respirator in local stores Worried abt any side effects for not using a half face respirator 😬
Hello i am new to this channel and to this fiels but i am really interested in learning it and i found all about it in your channel i really appreciate your hard work ❤ please continue and do not give up 🎉🎉
Amazing video, thank you for sharing. :) How long I can access the room without face mask after using SCI powder? If it flew in the air, so how long it will drop to the floor?
Hello, LOVE your channel... was wondering if there are any BASES (lotion/body wash) that you recommend for those who like to take shortcuts when formulating body care products?💕
Quick question. So I made this wash with no fragrance, so I can add it later. A few weeks go by and I added some fragrance, and the consistency turned to water. Do you know why that happens and how to avoid that?
Hi Tara, me again..... When you started making all these different products, did you start off using beakers or can I use plastic containers until I can get them.
Good day Tara! I tried this recipe however the next day my wash was still opaque and thick. I'm not sure what to do next. Can I add more distilled water?
Hi Tara Just a question I have. Is it possible to make small pods of concentrated shower gel where water needs to be added to get around 500ml of shower gel?
Loved this recipe! I have made the shower gel, it has good bubbles but the problem is after 3-4 days it becomes very thin and liquidy instead of thickened. What could be the solution?
I tried this recipe 2 days ago. I made a 700gm batch. After I added the B phase to the A phase, I mixed and allowed it to sit overnight. My batch never cleared up and Phase A never dissolved in the water. It just sat on top. I mixed it. Let it sit another 24hrs. It is thick and gloopy. I don't know what I did wrong. I didn't reheat it because it contains the preservative. No color or fragrance was added. Is it salvageable?
I struggle with my fragrance oils turning my gel consistency into super a watery consistency. What kind of stabilizer can I use to help maintain the thicker gel consistency?
you just have to test the fragrance oil before using. some just do that. there isn’t a way to fix it. you can thicken it back up using a different thickener like xanthan gum, but otherwise you just have to test oil the fragrances and find one that doesn’t do that
Hi, I am wondering if I could reduce coco betaine and replace it with coco/decyl glucoside? For example, if I use 20% coco glucoside and 10% coco betaine?
Hey Tara, I did everything like in the recipe, but it turned ,,white” instead of transparent- it has a lot of bubbles in it. Can you please tell me how to get rid of those bubbles? :/
yeah it happened me too. Try re-heat (only to know, if it is problem in cold water). I think, that when u mix phase A and phase B, water must be in the same temperature like the phase A, or similar. If u mix COLD water with hot (about 30-40°C) phase A, it clumps and never mix together clearly. I try it now and it happened to me exactly like u write. If my mix doesnt go together after 24 hours i will go reheat it. (i know that preservative doesnt like higher temperature, so i only try if this problem is in water). If then it mix well i will make a new try and preservative+fragrance add later after phase A and phase B cool down a little bit. :)
@@TaraLeee This formula didn't call for xantham gum - should it be added? I did add regular xantham gum to the face wash formula of yours and that turned out great. I don't have access to the soft version because I'm in Africa - supplies are more limited.
How if I don't use sodium cocoyl isethionate, i only have cocamidopropyl betaine and decyl glucoside. Could I still make use this recipe. Is decyl could replace SCI?
Hey I find it helpful but please will you help me out with clear shower gel formulation actually when I add perfume then my shower gel changes towards hazy liquid..
That can Create bubbles u don't want, which can be hard to get rid of sometimes 2 days when the formula settles will bubbles go away so mixing with a blender is a no no
Tara I have been trying this now for 2 days. All I'm getting is a jelly blob after mixing and letting it sit overnight. I'm trying 250 gr batch. I am using the percentages listed. Its driving me crazy. Can you help me trouble shoot?
you won’t get the same results. the body wash will be thin and probably won’t lather as much, but you can try it. use it within the suggested usage rate.
Why is phase A and phase B not mixing together after 3 days? It is slowly coming together. I completed every step as you did but for strange reason it has not completely mixed. Please help!

Thank you so much Tara. Thank you for giving us so much information, teachings and guidance. Blessings to you always!❤
Hi tara, i used this simple formulation since i have unused sci. It is super easy to make and also i like the soft skin after-feel. Thx a lot😊
My favorite is the pink and the orange,
Thank you Tara
For a thicker consistency, i added a teaspoon of sodium hydroxide to the water phase and heated it up.
Very pretty colors. Love how they came out. This one is gentle enough so no need for “refatting agent” ?
this is more mild since it’s made with sci as the anionic surfactant. you can add a refatting agent, but i wanted to make this beginner friendly. 😊
And she does it again!!! Thank you soooooo much Tara!
I love thick body washes. this was very simple thank you.
Please share a video on getting the empty product containers and other packaging materials
