With regards to being kind against being right.
I see this differently: We are like in a storm situation on the open sea in a small boat. Building a bigger boat is nice, but letting someone in who will drill a hole in your boat is a lethal mistake. And if you see & hear someone spouting nonsense, what guarantee do you have that they are not gonna hull your boat?

I am mathematician. I have done some research. After federal taxes , SS and Medicare taxes, state taxes, sales taxes, car registration taxes, car insurance, home insurance, property taxes....I determined that the average American is left with a little less that 32 pennies for every dollars earned. The 32 pennies will have to pay for Internet, gas, food , meds and clothes. So at the end of the month, there is nothing left. That , ladies and gentlemen, is for a $55 k salary per year. Unbelievable. Our kids cannot afford rent. This is a very sad state of affairs. My kids buy their clothes from a good will store. This is a sad state of affairs for the richest country on planet earth

Goodwill....good example of end stage capitalism. A multi-billion corporation that gets free goods, and then sells those goods back to us at a somewhat discount. Yet nobody bats an eye at that business model amd continues to support them.
We all need to sell our own stuff. We all need to fight for higher wages. We all need to fight for unions and stop electing officials who dismantle unions.

And people brag about how the US has less taxes than other countries. They fail to realize that other countries actually have some social programs. I’ve been saying that since I filed my first income tax form the same week I visited relatives in Canada in the early 80s. All the Americans at the table were bragging. Not so much these days, although old habits die hard.

@@kellytostada9949 It seems to me and apparently a lot of more expert observers that we are entering the intelligent and able machine era. It is very doubtful that unions are coming back because our labor likely is going to be less and less valuable - approaching zero. Machines are even going to be more effective artists, prostitutes, caregivers, CEOs, criminals, scientists - everything. Unions will have nothing to bargain with - machines will be better at violence too, so you can forget that as a bargaining chip.

Universal Credit deduces some of my partner's wages from my limited capable for work allowance. Meanwhile, Mohammed and his six wives are given every penny that we don't get because they're foreign and are struggling more. And then people wonder how this country got so "racist" and "hateful" - How could we not? We have veterans living on the streets while Middle-Easterns know they can come to this country and scrounge every penny.

Their mortgage payments hadn't increased...so when we blame everything on the system sometimes that's not exactly correct.

I agreed to marry my fiancé for one reason being that he demanded me look him in the eyes when speaking to him. And he loved that I was so nice to him. So it feels good to be myself and with someone who has value in himself and sees it in me. Praise God. Even if we don’t have much, we have something, indeed.

My eldest who is 21 has a great head on her shoulders, she even said her and her boyfriend weren't going out for a meal because it's daylight robbery and she'd cook for them herself, I'm delighted she's that way. Speaking from personal experience, I evaluated every penny I was spending and found I was the problem. I made enough money I just wasn't allocating properly. My suggestion is to take a painful look at your spending, a real, very, painful look and see if there's anything you can do to lower your expenses. I got a receipt for everything, I started growing my own food, I got a smart thermostat and wore a sweatshirt and sweatpants in the winter so I could keep the temperature at 68 instead of 70. I walk when I'm able instead of driving. The hardest part was acknowledging what I can't change. I can't change the price of an item, but I can choose how and when I spend my money. I hope this is helpful.

I've been a gardener for over 40 years. I was an urban police officer, who on a particular day responded on a call for help from another police officer and when I and other officers arrived, that officer had been killed. Fast forward - gardening offered a place of solitude (a sanctuary) and peace and food to put on the table. That solitude offers you a place to work things out in your head and heart. Today, I encourage everyone I speak with to grow something. I usually start with giving them a package of radish seeds. Anyone can grow radishes. Once they realize they can grow vegetables, then I help them plan, prepare and plant their next year's garden. They are always grateful to have been introduced to their very own special place. MY GARDEN. Start now, ask a gardener. They will be more than willing to help you learn so that they will be able to teach someone else. Keep on prepping!

Prices are super crazy right now. So are taxes and fees. Ridiculous. But I've found most people are living beyond their means which is making it harder to "make it" these days. Here are some things we've learned along the way to stay out of debt - Be a producer - not a consumer. Focus on non-monentary income. What items can you make instead of buy? Especially food. Make your own food as often as you can. It doesn't have to be fancy or complicated. Do you really need a $600 phone? Small expenses add up! Drop non-essential monthly payments - online music, games, movies,.. Amazon prime is a rip off! You can still get free shipping without it. Speaking of Amazon, leave stuff in your cart for a week before you buy it. A lot of times you'll find you don't really need it. Stop making car payments! Buy a cheap used car. Use cash not cards. Stop buying coffee drinks - they are mostly milk and cheap syrup. Same with alcohol. Make your own drinks at home! SO much cheaper! Shop thrift stores and garage sales for clothes.

The whole day watching Tv, smoking & coffee, Yes therapy was only 1 1/2 a day, mostly things i did at Kindergarten, some girls /women liked, the boys/ man hated it. Told me about it, but where afraid to talk about it with the staff ( punishment, builling)
I thought why do this happen in a very civilized country!
I remembered that Germany was one of the most civilized countries worldwide, we all know what happened!
If you want more to know!
Search for Psychiatric hospital Sonnenheim( still used as institution for severe disabled
Yes they got a shower, Auschwitz style) and Aktion Tiergarten 4, dont watch after dinner!)

All of our Neighbors when I was a child traded and shared food from our gardens. Local farm had chicken and turkeys and all the boys in the neighborhood worked there . We always got rotisserie chickens and turkeys from them. Neighbors meant something.
My husband and I still maintain a large garden and do all the things we did so many years ago. Good luck to all. Keep prepping.

I love your emphasis on kindness and community. That really is the key to thriving. I also appreciate you talking about what it is to be a man. I think people go astray when they define manhood in opposition to womanhood. It is so much more helpful to define it in opposition to boyhood. Bravery, kindness, taking action, strength, taking care of others, emotional regulation, self-control. That’s what it is about.

“What does not kill me makes me stronger,” Nietzsche wrote. But hurt doesn’t make us stronger. Hurt just makes us hurt. The whole place feels like a grave. A cathedral for the dead and the fallen. The ground is littered with discarded books and magazines. A broken crack pipe has been left on a cinder block. There is a garden chair, and overturned crates and buckets. A mangled teddy bear. Death everywhere. If they were not emotionally connected to the person who has died, the body is taken outside and that night it disappears when the truly desperate come and make food of it. We have no place left to bury or hide our dead. Some have begun to pack the orifices of the bodies with poisons even household cleaning chemicals and posting warning signs on the bodies, this is not a deterrent, and many get sick and perish because they ignore the warning. In fact, few now spend the effort to cook the meat and simply gorge themselves on the raw flesh. It is now a rare sight to see even a deteriorated corpse unmolested in some way, worse are the sick that have not the strength or means to fend off the starving. No one moans or cries like in the beginning and every face has a vacant empty inhuman look, the eyes desperately searching wildly. Today I saw a woman eating small portions of flesh she had hidden in a child’s pencil case, it was decorated with figures from the cartoon called Toy Story, and when I saw it something in me broke, I am struggling to maintain a positive attitude and ashamed of my weakness and lack of coping skills. On a positive note, I long ago established a thriving cockroach farm in an 80-gallon fish tank stuffed with empty cardboard and egg cartons and have been very disciplined with keeping my meals small so as not to generate suspicion while maintaining my protein intake enough to function. Cockroaches are omnivores, which means they eat both plants and animals, so my day is filled looking for weeds and other insects to keep the farm going and maintain a sense of purpose. Kuru Is a Neurodegenerative Disorder That Is Passed on Through Cannibalism and many now show the symptoms of muscle twitching, loss of coordination. Other symptoms include difficulty walking, involuntary movements, behavioral and mood changes, dementia, and fatal insomnia. You can contract the disease by eating human flesh or coming into contact with open wounds or sores of someone living with it. The only hope now is for the dark silence of death itself.

Hi from Ireland. I'm a bit shocked at the amount of people saying eat at home which leaves me extremely shocked to think that people eat out all the time!! I have a well stocked pantry, i cook pretty much everything from scratch, make sauces and freeze them etc. If i find beef/chicken reduced i buy a lot and vacuum seal which is brilliant. We dont have coupons here unfortunately, well not like out there!! I also bake - brown bread, white bread and even though its absolutely devoured its nothing compared to our delicious white bread we can get here!! I also bake cinnamon rolls, buns/muffins, tray bakes, cookies (make them up, freeze them and pull out and bake, all these baked goods are treats and most certainly not a daily option 😅 food has dramatically risen in price here so has fuel etc. I dont do a weekly shop really, just pick up fresh veg, milk etc because I'm so well stocked. A friend recently told me she spends over around €300 per week on 2 adults and 2 small children and thats no meat!

I think tackling the grocery bill is a good place to start. I also think roommates or selling your home for a multifamily building such as a 2-4 family would be helpful. Your tenants will pay for the mortgage and utilities. If you're a renter with no savings you need a side hustle. If you're older or have health issues reach out to family or religious organizations. I read through many of the comments and people are saying eat at home. I couldn't't agree more. It's not only cheaper but it's healthier. I always mention on channels like this that you need to buy whole chickens and make bone broth from it. Utilize food extenders like pasta and rice. These items are cheap and go a long way. Make your own bread. I think the channel is Pioneer Kitchen and she had a great bread recipe called peasant bread that I'm actually making as I type this. 2 cups of flour, 1 cup of warm water, 1 tsp each of the following; salt, sugar, and yeast. Butter up a cast iron skillet (I use an 8" skillet) mix the dry ingredients in the skillet then add the water. Mix well. Cover and let rise for 2 hours and beat down. Let it rise another 30 minutes then bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes. This is about 40 cents per loaf. No kneading and can be made in minutes. Get creative folks because it's going to get more challenging.

Making your own bread is especially money saving. I bought myself a bread machine from a thrift store and never buy store bought bread anymore. It takes me 5 minutes to gather and measure the ingredients and turn on the machine. Less time and effort than it would take me to run to the store for a $4 loaf of bread. And made using butter or olive oil, rather than soybean oil and other nasty stuff. The aroma of bread baking in the house is a great bonus!

Sell your house for a 2-4 family multi family building? Are you serious? Who can afford that? Have you looked at the price of multi family buildings and mortgage rates? You seriously think that someone struggling tackling the grocery bill is going to afford buying a multi family property? If you're a renter with no savings you think you can just magically start a side hustle? I own 2 businesses and work my back off and can vouch that it takes quite a bit of money to start anything nowadays.

The thing that really saved me and help me get ahead was leaving the state I was in. It was dragging me down and far too expensive. I moved four states away and it was like I was in another country so cheap to live here I made sacrifices you wouldn’t believe lived in a camper with no plumbing for months. The camper was paid off. I paid $17 a month for electricity I was saving 85% of everything I made, if you live simply and your house is paid off and you live tiny you’re not gonna have any worries, but the problem is being able to own the land and get the well drilled and the plumbing put in and the electricity set up. These are the things that are challenge learn about solar power run your solar don’t stack up any debt get that house paid off and you’re free it’s hard to make these kind of sacrifices, but in the end, you’ll get ahead. Live in a state that offers a lot of freedom. Here we can burn our trash have out houses and we’re just outside the city limits.

I was a Scout Master and Assistant (mostly due to having to travel) and both of my boys (now in their 30's) are Eagle Scouts. Unfortunately, the BSA has deteriorated. If you have a good troop, it's because the adult leadership is choosing to operate like it's 20 years ago. I agree that it is really important to get your community working together - it's hard to do before it's really obvious that it is necessary... people just tend to keep to themselves and move around so that they don't become naturally rooted in a community.
