      Russia doesn't need to use such outdated weapons, they're already using far more advanced DEW EMF Radiation weapons causing everyone in the west to get cancer in the next few years from underground bunkers in the west, and are preparing their next bio weapon a long side some cyber attacks. Sadly the West isn't able to respond to this in any meaningful way since we have monopoly military industrial complex and we're relying on Boeing, Raytheon, and Lockheed Martin vs a much superior group of people who are developing weapons that these companies can't even imagine yet.

    Having experience working inside a nuclear plant, I will give this tip. Pick up handy wipes, which are made with polyester threads or other polyester cloth or material. Wipe yourself down with them. Polyester absorbs, energy particles. You do not wet them just wipe yourself with them. Every time I went in and out with my tools, they would wipe my tools down with dry hand wipes, then put my tools inside a particle counter, which look like a microwave if they set off the machine, they would wipe them down again. Then my tools were safe to remove.

      that’s called surface contamination. surface contamination is only present when working with tools / on equipment that has been in a radioactive flux. the surface contamination is spread from the materials to the tools when exerting force on materials that have been exposed. think of radioactive rust / dust coming off with a wipe.
      this will not work if you are exposed to the flux itself (the blast)
      TLDR; you can’t wipe away radioactivity. you’re just wiping off the radioactive dust and making the tool clean.

    My city in Northern California is home to one of the major Air Bases on the West Coast. In other words, we are a level one nuclear target. Most Americans will only get about a 25 minute warning. The United States and Russia will each get hit with about 1000 warheads each. Both countries will be turned into firery hellscapes, 150 billion tons of smoke will block out the sun for 7-10 years. If one does have the misfortune of surviving, photosynthesis on earth will stop, no crops, no food. Lets not forget that in just 35 minutes most of humanity will perish, the world hit the rewind button from 2024 back to the Stone Age, no power, no lights, no cars, no modern medicine, no fresh water by turning on the tap, it will be the end of modern civilization. It's human nature to want to survive I appreciate your optimistic spirit Kris but I hope I'm vaporized in an instant. I am just trying to illustrate how mad the idea of nuclear war is. I am angry at how the lives nearly 8 billion people are in the hands of only a few individuals.

    A few points I would pushback on. Fallout radiation follows the 7-10 rule. If fallout peaks in 1 hour, 7 hours later, the radiation is down to 10%. After 7*7 hours or 49 hours, the radiation is down to 1%. After 7x7x7 hours or 2 weeks, it is down to 0.1%. Kris said in the video that 99% reduction takes 2 weeks.
    The fallout radiation is carried by small particles of debris the size of table salt or fine sand. If that is on your person or on your canned food, simply wipe it off as you would dirt. The fallout does not contaminate the food inside the can. Similarly, if your HVAC system and windows are good enough to keep dust out, then fallout won't get in either. The gamma radiation from particles outside will still get through your walls but the particles themselves won't get in and that gives you protection via distance. The three mainstays of fallout protection are time, distance and shielding. Shielding is a whole different subject, but basically the more mass you have between you and the fallout, the better. You can get a dose reduction of 99% (Protection Factor of 100) with 2 feet of concrete or 3 feet of packed earth. I believe that 29 inches of sand will also give a PF of 100. That is why underground is the best place as it has concrete and packed earth all around. The biggest source of radiation may be from above. For example, in my basement, the closest outside surface would be my front porch. Any fallout on there will radiate through whatever thickness of concrete and dirt are above the roof of my basement which is probably less than 8 inches in thickness. A good source for information is Nuclear War Survival Skills by Cresson Kearny. There are free versions available online.

    • @chesslover8829

      Ten feet of air will attenuate gamma radiation. That's how far one must be from the walls of their home if no other shielding is present.

      @@chesslover8829 According to Washington State Dept of Health Fact Sheet 320-056 it is much more. "Depending upon their initial energy, gamma rays can travel tens or hundreds of feet in air.". However, my reference doesn't list how much it is attenuated by that distance. I can't find how much air is needed to attenuate gammas by 50%.

    • @chesslover8829
      @chesslover8829 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      @Metalheaddoc You raise a very good point. My sources say two feet of concrete, three feet of packed earth, or ten feet of air will attenuate gamma radiation from fallout. However, according to the America Nuclear Society (ANS), 13.8 feet of water, 6.6 feet of concrete, or 1.3 feet of lead is needed. Very few structures in America provide that much protection, especially a single family home, even if it has a basement. If the ANS is correct, why even bother to prep. It would be both difficult and expensive to construct a concrete fallout shelter with 6.6-foot walls and ceilings. Therefore, anyone in the fallout path will perish unless they have an elaborate fallout shelter. How depressing.

If all nukes of the world are launched would probably produce same with radiations zones...i just jope if some nukes were to be send it would stop pretty fast because one side lost by prefer back up and surrender or the two sidesdecide stop because they lost too much.

    If the nukes start popping off, the only thing you can do is pray. Mainly since no one in their right mind would want to start a nuclear war. That means the person doing so is insane, stupid, or both, and you will have no clue as to their "rational" on targeting. So pray, hug your loved ones, and get ready for the aftermath if you survive the initial.
    Also, for clarification, you should be praying that the boom is either very close, or very far away. That middle ground will suck.

    Unless they use cobalt nukes, in which case 20 years worth of food and water in a deep bunker isn't going to be nearly enough.

      Yeah, it's a thing. Salt the nuke with certain elements with long half-lives and you'd have to be in a bunker for something like 100 years before the radiation levels fell low enough for people to survive outside for even brief periods.

    QUESTION I am not sure what to do with the vegetables in my garden ? They will be radiated ! You say to plant some sunflowers but is that enought to take out the radiations that are in the earth and permet us to replant again the next year ?
    Thank you so so mutch for all the work you do to bring us ths real and good informations. Also thanks to all your team 😊❤

      Firstly I hope the likelihood of war is very low and you can enjoy your garden as it is for many years to come. However in the event of nuclear war the extent of fallout and radionuclide uptake is impossible to predict, it would need to be measured after the fact. If there were significant contamination then it is my understanding that the topsoil would need to be removed.

    Chris, normally your reasoned, dispassionate, logical dissertations are your strength. You are devoid of the hyperbole and hysteria that are the trademark of many preparedness channels, especially those emanating from Canada. However, this subject does not lend itself to your usual lecture style. When I first saw the title, I asked myself “why”? I think perhaps R.E.M. had it right. I’ll prepare for various calamities but when it comes to nuclear war, “…I feel fine”.

    After conversing with a soldier friend of ours in the UK, my fiancé and I are not surprised this is happening. Apparently, our friend was being called back into service and by his apprehension in his voice of what has been told to him, it seems we’re likely than not to enter WWIII of some capacity. He reckons it’s only a few months if that. I will say take everything I say with a grain of salt since things can change on the flip of a coin.

    They ate their pets first during their starvation.
    Then people.
    War is uglier than one could imagine.
    My mom was 13 when WWII broke out.
    Grandma got shot and killed in a German sweep.
    Wrong place at wrong time.
    A German soldier was killed over the night and they rounded up 10 innocent people and executed them from a public market.
    That was their penalty.

      1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
      will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.
      2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress,
      my God, in whom I trust.”
      3 Surely he will save you
      from the fowler’s snare
      and from the deadly pestilence.
      4 He will cover you with his feathers,
      and under his wings you will find refuge;
      his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.
      5 You will not fear the terror of night,
      nor the arrow that flies by day,
      6 nor the pestilence that stalks in the darkness,
      nor the plague that destroys at midday.
      7 A thousand may fall at your side,
      ten thousand at your right hand,
      but it will not come near you.
      8 You will only observe with your eyes
      and see the punishment of the wicked.
      9 If you say, “The Lord is my refuge,”
      and you make the Most High your dwelling,
      10 no harm will overtake you,
      no disaster will come near your tent.
      11 For he will command his angels concerning you
      to guard you in all your ways;
      12 they will lift you up in their hands,
      so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.
      13 You will tread on the lion and the cobra;
      you will trample the great lion and the serpent.
      14 “Because he[b] loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him;
      I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name.
      15 He will call on me, and I will answer him;
      I will be with him in trouble,
      I will deliver him and honor him.
      16 With long life I will satisfy him
      and show him my salvation.”
