- HE SURPRISED ME WITH A ROMANTIC WEEKEND// Happy Tuesday, Today we want to share our latest travel vlog. Joerg surprised me with an amazing weekend in York and a very special treat for my birthday. He really knows how to romanticise our lives and it was the perfect escape! We stayed at Middlethorpe Hall, one of the National Trust hotels which is the epitome of an English country house. The house is from the 17th century (William & Mary style) with a stunning architecture and the most beautiful classic English interior. Honestly such an amazing place that we think you will love as well. Kirsten & Joerg xx

OMG, I am watching this video now from Las Vegas and had the pleasure of staying at Middlethorpe Hall about 20 years ago! It is still as lovely as when I stayed there and felt like I was in a Jane Austen movie set. I was in one of the stable rooms and they were charming, but with much lower ceilings. The food and the service were excellent and loved having coffee every morning in the lobby before I walked to the York city center(which was about a 20/25 minute walk)! I can't recommend this place enough, especially for Anglo-files or for a romantic stay. Sadly I was alone, LOL. Thanks so much for filming this and bringing back so many wonderful memories of my stay there. I loved the York area too and stayed there for 2/3 days and hopefully, you will film some more of your travels there, and great job to you both as always! Cheers and Godspeed! PS, Hopefully, you will have a chance to have tea/lunch at Betty's tea room too, which again was also excellent!
Oh that's absolutely wonderful! Yes, it's such a great place, isn't it? WE loved every single second there. Unfortunately we didn't go to Betty's Tearoom, we went there 3 years ago (to the smaller place which sadly has closed down). We liked it back then but weren't that convinced I'm afraid. We would have loved to go to the shop but the queue there was absolutely terrible (with Covid still going strong, we try to be careful).

What a wonderful birthday surprise…Happy Birthday,🎉….Middlethorpe Hall was stunning….so well decorated with the fabrics,furniture,china,wallpaper..so appropriate for the period…..think baskets are a British thing….I had a small wicker one as a child when I went shopping with my Mum ,guess that’s why I am drawn to them still…have many…thanks for such a lovely video
