My biggest problem was separating the filament from the tape. I never notice in any other videos how to do that. Thank you so much for clearly showing how that is done.
We just opened a wrap shop for orphon kids who were in our repair training shop. The guy we employed to teach them did a runner with a lot of kit and 14 full rolls of Vinyl. Well I dont know much about wrapping, So i did a check up and foundthe garage. The boys are over the moon that the shop will stay open. Well now i found the wrap gurue I can teach them by watching you. Just learnt how you use cutting tape. Brilliant. The American School sayd many thanks.
Can you please tell me if you overlapped two pieces of vinyl would this tape be strong enough to cut both so you would have two perfect butt edges. I want to wrap a guitar with 2 pieces a front in back. I want to put this tape along the middle if the side of the guitar and overlap the top and bottom piece and hopefully use this to perfectly put them together. Thanks
Was just about to return my knifless tape until i found this video. Thanks for the help! Now I can do it like a pro after a couple times of testing on my office desk haha. Now onto the vehicles!
I know I've asked about this stuff before, and I've begged to see it in action. This is fucking awesome, and I definitely learned something new today. My one question would be, "Since you guys have so many different methods and different areas of vehicles to do, would this be a go-to source for pinstriping effect, or just another tool at your disposal ?" I definitely like the results, regardless. Keep 'em coming, y'all.
Can you lay one straight line of tape perpendicular or across at an angle to another to create a design? If so, when you pull the first (upper layer) will it disturb the one below it.
thank you for this, last video I watched he didn't even show how to use the knifeless tape.. I have a question though, I want to wrap my entire jeep in one solid color but don't wanna spend 5 k. When doing the hood, where there's the blank space where the hood shuts down. What would I do for that?? Just easily cut it? Or do they make knifeless tape that's wider?? Also, when wrapping the whole vehicle I'd still have to do it in sections but won't that make it look odd? I'll obviously practice before doing it on my vehicle. Also, when you wrap, how long does it last??? Thanks in advance for anyone who has the answers for me lol!
I will try this method. For the life of me I can’t get the filament to split the backing on top. It keeps pulling the filament from the side and ultimately won’t cut the vinyl.
Awesome video :) Question please guys...when using soapy water to install PPF, at what stage do you cut the film with this tape ? Wait for it to dry completely ? Many thanks for assisting :)
YOU ARE THE MAN!!! The vague 5 step instruction picture that comes with the 3M tape is pukn useless! along with the 2 other peoples youtube videos i watched.. 1:26 into your video and BAM!! im a goddam pro. lol.. thanks mate :D
If you're just doing a 1 inch or 1.5 inch wide straight stripe, do you need the knife-less tape. I plan on doing two straight black stripes on my hood where the stripe runs the full length of the hood. Thanks and excellent video... Phil
what about fingering of they vinyl? Doesn't the vinyl at times get these little rough "fingers" ? Also, what about wrapping a tube shape, such as a bike frame... .Can you use knifeless tape to cut TWO overlapping pieces of vinyl?
Haha I thought I was missing something, breaking string free. Couldnt get it to cut so I layed out my line and used string as guide for my knife while the tape helped from scoring the vehicle 😂
Hey, can you use knifeless tape on window tint, headlight/taillight yellow tint film? Wondering if it is made of similar material and can be cut by knifeless. Thanks
Hey Daniel, how would you go about making a sharp point with knifeless tape? Would you need to use more than one strip? Like the shapes from the gtr you recently unwrapped.
Joseph Kaufman Its round, no blade. Like fishink line, now technically it can cut, if you press hard enough and slide along it fast enough, but theres no way you could ever do that accidentally. It also has to be in the air, not against any surface.
That’s what I did!!! But the string just started peeling from underneath the tape lmao. Shits retarted and got me in a Fck fit. I half to retake and try it now from the vinyl I just laid for Fck sake!!
My biggest problem was separating the filament from the tape. I never notice in any other videos how to do that. Thank you so much for clearly showing how that is done.
No kidding! Drives me nuts getting it going. Sometimes the damn string tears.
i still couldn't see how just folding the tape over itself exposes the line lol
I had to use tweezers every time 😭
@@riammey It's all good! I still use tweezers on occasion.
Right! I always use my blade and half the time the string breaks at the start of the cut. Then I throw things to make me feel better.
Finally someone who showed how to get the filament out! I had such a hard time.... Thanks man ✌️

YOU are the ONLY ONE who explained nice and easy how to use it. JUST GREAT. THANK YOU.
The answered one burning question I've had in my mind for an upcoming project. THANKS SO MUCH!!!
I love this stuff! It's the corners I need to work on.
My WRX Channel 3M just released a few videos that are ptoduced by the Wrap Institute detailing how to make perfect corners.
Thanks
Thanks for going through the steps, I finally used it. You make it look so easy! Keep up the good work!

Lol I'm 14 and love this channel phaha can't even drive but want to do something similar as a job when older 😂👍🏻
Your 20 now. What do you got now?
Nice video, I like heating the edge after, its smoothes it out nicely too.
I’ve tried this method but have thicker wrap and it’s not cutting through it. Tips?
Can you lay one straight line of tape perpendicular or across at an angle to another to create a design? If so, when you pull the first (upper layer) will it disturb the one below it.
Well damn this makes sense now. I never separated the line from the green tape...
Nice, what kind of vinyl did you use in the demo on the hood? Flattened so well and no bubbles by hand.
thank you for this, last video I watched he didn't even show how to use the knifeless tape.. I have a question though, I want to wrap my entire jeep in one solid color but don't wanna spend 5 k. So grateful that finally found your tube on how to do it the best ever way. 😀

this legit blew my mind. i been under a rock. this shit can be SO USEFUL for many thing i can think of
Does this stuff work ok on headlight tint? i've heard its much thicker then vinyl used for wraps.
That video was 🔥🔥🔥 I really needed that video. Subscribed for future updates

Here i am, 2021, wrapping my roof, gonna do this method as a noob, wish me luck!
Awesome vid! On the curved corners- do you stop, cut and follow the curve or is the tape flexible enough to curve without having to stop and cut it?
Hi, can it be used with two layers of vinyl? will it cut?
Thank you. This is very helpful with using vinyl wrap 👍
what about fingering of they vinyl? Doesn't the vinyl at times get these little rough "fingers" ? Also, what about wrapping a tube shape, such as a bike frame... .Can you use knifeless tape to cut TWO overlapping pieces of vinyl?
This is gonna save me hours of labor...can't wait till summer time to do a kamo wrap on my Z
Haha I thought I was missing something, breaking string free. Couldnt get it to cut so I layed out my line and used string as guide for my knife while the tape helped from scoring the vehicle 😂
How many layers can the tape cut.
This is going to make my life so much easy, got a motorbike gas tank to do, and I was dreding having to use one piece

Thanks for the vid i had trouble seperating it
Very informative! Thank you!
Will this work with PPF or is PPF too thick?
that was perfect.. to the point and easy to understand... thanks man
omg thank you. Ive been trying to cut the line out with a knife this whole time lol
Exactly the video I was looking for. Thank you!
Hey Daniel, how would you go about making a sharp point with knifeless tape? Would you need to use more than one strip? Like the shapes from the gtr you recently unwrapped.
Great question! Yes, you would need to use multiple strips to create sharp points. Very easy to do though.
Pretty cool, first I've seen of this. Rather surprised at how much vinyl gets wasted though, it can't be that cheap.
Can the string cut you or is it like fishing line or dental floss?
Joseph Kaufman Its round, no blade. Like fishink line, now technically it can cut, if you press hard enough and slide along it fast enough, but theres no way you could ever do that accidentally. It also has to be in the air, not against any surface.
So you cut after you heat or before?
It's Jose Akosta's Corvette?
Nice! Always have been wondering how to use this!
Thanks for the lesson 🤙
Wow! I have a lot more confidence in an application for this now :) thanks a lot!
That is awesome!

Glad it was helpful!
best part was watching you just toss the tape onto the vet hood smh lmao
Imagine thinking a roll of tape would damage a hood...
@@Youretryingtoohard what the fuck man. Don't you know everyone's bringing a microscope on car meet. They check paint up to molecular level. 😂

Forget calling the 3M product help line. Useless! They just read you the instructions. WTF I don’t need them to read the instructions!
why the hell not just call this "Knife Tape" makes more sense... I thought this was tape that you didnt need a knife to cut
Wow dude
thx~!!
This tape is so expensive dammit. Could buy a new heat gun for a tape price.
Suza Iree it’s like $25 for 160 feet... I wouldn’t really call that expensive... you need like 20-30 feet for a car lol at most
Boom done
god all the waste to make that spot
