      Thank-you so much. I'm so glad you like it. Welcome to the world of acrylics - I hope you enjoy them as much as I do. Yes, I do! I think a lot of artists don't realize how important water is for using acrylics, and how often it is needed in your painting. I typically will use water every time I mix colours, add another layer, etc. I keep my brush wet (not dripping) for the vast majority of my painting. I hope this helps! :)

    Hi Cassy, wonderful work and I like how u really enjoy it and get excited about doing the "special" bits as I'm the same with my portraits too. The pink to mud! Oh yes but like u have found that brown is better mixed with your base pink instead of black....we defo learn as we go along. If u get a moment please take a peek at my pet portrait I loaded on here and tell me what u think. I paint with acrylics on pebbles/stone/cobbles. Look forward to your next pup subject. Great informative video. Thank you for sharing! Beautiful painting! I am new to acrylics, and just love to paint and have found it to be very cathartic. I've already been asked for animal portraits. As I'm sure you know, color mixing is probably the most difficult thing for a beginner. I would like to know what mixture you used for the lightest tans in Ruby's coat. Tans seem to be very difficult for me to mix. Can you give me any tips to keep it light without turning it yellow? My son's dog is a shepherd mix and is a classic golden tan and black.
    Thanks again Cassy
    Frannie

      Thank-you so much Frannie! I really appreciate the feedback and kind words. It means a lot! Welcome to the world of acrylic painting - I am so glad to hear you have had such a wonderful response to it. I often say my world disappears when I paint, and it leaves only me, peace, and my creative ideas. The colour mixture I used to create the tan was: titanium white, medium yellow, burnt sienna, and some burnt umber in areas. I use a lot of white and sienna to keep it from turning really yellow, and too stark. I hope this is helpful! Let me know if there is anything else I can help with! :)

    Ooo I’m soooo happy I found your channel I absolutely love your paintings stunning! I love to paint animals and mountain scenes digital to.
    Funny you say Bernese mountain dog I have one would be so cool if you painted one!
    Just subbed!
    Also when I try to paint my paint doesn’t really paint smoothly like when I try to do whiskers they look really thick and I have to get more paint to finish which makes it thicker I use a small brush to. What do you think am I doing wrong is it the paint or am I doing something wrong? Or do I need a certain kind of paper I used some really old acrylic paper I found think that’s what’s wrong?

    • @cassydraws
      @cassydraws  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank-you so much for the kind words! I am so happy to hear you like my artwork, and my videos! 💛 I really appreciate the support. As for your question, typically if I find my paint to be too thick and not as smooth as I’d like, I add just a touch of water to make it thinner. So I will have a very wet brush, and add water to my mixed colour as needed. I hope that helps. Sometimes paper can effect it too, so I use canvas or canvas panel to paint my projects. ☺️ Hope this helps!

    Amazing! So great of you to share. I'm just learning acrylics and soaking in everything I can. You are so gifted!! My paint on the palette dries so fast. What do you do to not have your paint dry up? Do you use any mediums, ie retarders etc? Also is there a reason you have your palette on the left of you? Isn't it awkward to go across your painting? I have a100 more questions!😳

    • @cassydraws
      @cassydraws  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Welcome to the world of acrylics! ❤️ It is so much fun, and I really hope you enjoy it. I do not use any mediums in my acrylic, instead I work in smaller amounts of paint and do a lot of little piles of it so I can use it all before it dries. I do a lot of mixing which isn’t always shown in my videos. 😂 I’ve never actually thought about having my palette on the left. Normally my reference is to the right, so I’ve always worked this way. I may have to try and switch it up! LOL! Ask away. I am happy to help.

    • @NDSuperSloot
