I never thought I could draw but this gave me a hope that I can finally have a go at drawing our 14 year old Karelian Bear dog for my boyfriend's birthday. I just love learning how to paint animals. I like picking and painting within categories one at a time. So far I have learned flowers, landscape, people and so on. Now I will start animals especially dogs. I have a Beagle mix and I also had a poodle mix . I want to paint both of them. With your helpful videos I am confident I will achieve my goal.
That sounds like an EXCELLENT goal. I've painted many beagles before and a few poodles, fun dogs to paint. I wish you luck and let me know if you need some help!

And then a flamingo. I have OCD (legitimate, not just saying it as an exaggeration to perfectionism) and I find it bleeds into my artwork, which I wished for a long time that I could escape my OCD within my art. But this tutorial really taught me that going back to the beginning, the basics, no pressure, fluid technique and mindset is a key part to success in each and everybody’s own personal art journey.
You are most welcome dear. I do know a few artists with OCD. It can definitely be a challenge. I'm so glad this tutorial brought you hope though. There is always hope!

You know I kind of like the painterly look, the imperfections make it more interesting. But I do know that Arteza and Master's touch brushes have served me well with not huge obvious streaks. I like them for being stiff, but also soft and they don't shed. They've also kept that durability after over a year and I paint ALOT. I hope that helps. I know that cleaning my brushes really well after every use with dawn soap also helps.

Looks awesome, I look forward to this being added to the masterclass. I was curious how you painted in the grass. I have a painting planned for down the road of two of our dogs sitting in the grass. I photoshopped them together and added grass to get an idea. But seeing how you paint it def helps. 😁😁
When you say “dark, medium light (repeat)... every layer is important “ are you working wet-on-wet as you go between tones? Or are the colors drying first?
Great question. I usually work on another areas while one is drying so I can layer overtop. When it comes to solid, smooth areas like the color or maybe blankets or something, I will work wet-into-wet.
So I definitely agree with you. It’s so important to keep babies away and visa verse from pets. Thankfully they are much older now and wiser with how to treat kitties.

Absolutely. I used Raw Sienna, Yellow Ochre, Burnt Umber, Permanent Red, Grass Green, Sky Blue and Phthalo Blue.

Yes I believe so, but I have not used folk art paints myself, I know they work well on wood though.
