Now if only he would learn to ride 2 strokes properly. I've never seen him wind one out and ride the powerband. Whether it's a CR250, banshee, quadzila, etc. He short shifts and never gets on the pipe. I don't know if it because he is scared or he grew up riding 4strikes with lower redlines and different powerband entirely.
@@gunclemac2729 Do they? Or are you being sarcastic? TBH I haven't ridden a 4 strike in about 20 years. I had a 400ex in 2000. Edit: on a side note I bought my son a Yamaha Pw80 about 12 years ago. It had an exhaust restrictor in the pipe. Basically just a washer put in to restrict airflow which limited the power. We took that out on the first day.
@@hughjaskoch5456 i was being sarcastic. A 2 stroke power band does 2 things, 1st advances the timing, second, you know how the pipe on a 2 stroke starts small, gets big, then gets small again? Well the second small part restricts the exhaust, a 2 stroke spits out fuel that never gets burned, because the exhaust port is basically just a hole, and back pressure keeps the fuel in. In the big chamber in the exhaust, it makes a pulse, when the pulse of the exhaust and the piston match up, the pulse keeps in the unburned fuel, and ups the back pressure causing an up in power and rpms, also the timing advances to make up for the milliseconds that the timing changes from the back pressure to burn the fuel more completely. A four stroke doesn't have a powerband like a 2 stroke. It has valves, so back pressure doesn't effect the timing, or fuel consumption like a four stroke, unless you meant the range of power. A four stroke makes all of its power in the first quarter of full throttle, were as the 2 stroke makes its power after the first half of throttle, which comes from the powerband and making more back pressure. Thats why 2 stroke riders are always trying to run out the rpms. They are "chasing" the powerband
@@gunclemac2729 Yeah I understand the 2 stroke stuff. And I know 4 stroke car motors, just wasn't sure exactly what you were referring to as you only said once sentence though. Good job tracing the electrical problem to the stator. Those can be real boogers to diagnose when the problem shows up intermittently. Just one little scratch on the enamel that coats and insulates the winding wire and spooky grounding causing the high RPM misfiring it had. I tried to save some money when the stator on my GPZ1100 burned out decades ago. I decided to rebuild it. I didn't have the internet to track down the materials with back then. I did have a shop near by that rebuilt transformers and generators, so I begged them to sell the wire and epoxy to re wind and dip my stator in. They didn't have the exact diameter wire I needed, but gave me a partially used spool of slightly larger diameter wire to try. I only had to but the can of epoxy. The wire really didn't look bigger, but was a real bitch to fit the required number of windings. Was extremely difficult and never worked lol. I did install it having tested each of the windings to insure there were no shorts, but the cursed thing quit almost immediately after hitting high revs. Never did figure out where the damage was of what caused it. Just bought a new one and rode the damned thing lol.
