Isidasi Theri
In this video, we tell of the karmic journey of Isidasi Theri, an fully enlightened nun in the Buddha's time.
Wat San Fran is proud to present stories taken from the Jatakas, Dhammapada, and Buddhist history. These stories often use past rebirth stories (Jatakas) to reveal the connection between past and present, and illustrate the relationship between cause and effect.
Check out the playlist #AnimatedBuddhistStories by Wat San Fran to explore the complete series.

This story taught me a lot about life and how to let go of suffering. If i attach myself with the negative memories it will only burden my heart more. Thank you so much for teaching me that i must learn from my actions and be accountable for my reactions and responses.
Taught this to students: "actions never go unrewarded"

Karma is very interesting. You cannot look at only your present life and determine the cause and effect. Sometimes it goes ways beyond.

It’s in the book The Great Disciples of Buddha. This is one of my favourite stories that clearly shows the effects of Karma.

Sometimes I wonder if people knew all about their past lives, will they be better or worse? I personally believe we settle most of our debts in this life itself.
a very interesting thing to think about!
@@watsanfran my concern if a person knows all that he did in the past, and he is getting punished, he might turn bitter, and not adjust to this life, but he might stop doing bad things as well, which makes him better, but which of these will happen in the end, I am not certain.
@@ankitanandy6076 if you will do vipassana course you will get answer of your question.

What wholesome deeds did Isidasi do in her pass lives before she was borned as a goldsmith ?
We have not come across this information yet. If you or anyone else happen to know, please let us know. In the source scriptures, the first life mentioned was the goldsmith.
@@watsanfran Will do. Thank you.

When a living being does not know why he/she is suffering for (because they don't know what they have done in past) then how come we can say that it is Karma! She was a obedient wife and she should be awarded for her best nature and deserve a life full of happiness... However, the opposite has happened. A person doing the bad deeds should be punished in the same life so that they know what they have done to others is coming back to them!
Honestly, punishing a poor bull, sheep, monkey or helpless lady does not make much sense to me!
The Law of Karma (or the Law of Moral Causation) is under no obligation to make sense to you. YOU have to make sense of it.
Learn the Theory of Karma which explains the 3 types of Karma and you’ll understand.
This is one of four noble truths. That there is reason to suffering and people suffer because they don't know that reason.
Thats how kamma and vipaka work.if one does bad kamma the bad consequences not only come in this very life but in the future existences as well,Thats how the law of kamma works.
16:58: In the modern world this person would just have been a "they/them".
