Princess Vajira
In this video, the Buddha tells a story about a past life of Princess Vajira and what she did to deserve her good kamma in her present life.
Note: Although this Mahayana Jataka is not corroborated by the Theravada Pali Canon that we follow, we have decided to present it because the themes in this story reflect the universal truths of reality and may be of benefit to Dhamma practitioners alike.
Wat San Fran is proud to present stories taken from the Jatakas, Dhammapada, and Buddhist history. These stories often use past rebirth stories (Jatakas) to reveal the connection between past and present, and illustrate the relationship between cause and effect.
Check out the playlist #AnimatedBuddhistStories by Wat San Fran to explore the complete series.

Very beautiful. I actually learned two lessons from this video.
1. I only get what I deserve. My good deeds will bring me good things and the bad ones the necessary consequences in suffering.
2. Because someone hurts me, I usually tend to think, they should or will or could suffer. Its childish of me to think that way. It may so happen that they really be happy and more well to do than me. So it is not necessary that only through me they have happiness and good things. They hurt me because of my kamma and they could have better times because of their good kamma.
Any comments ?
Thank you so much watsanfran for yet another beautifully depicted story.
Beautiful video. Thank you. The message about kamma is very good. I think Vajira, besides enjoying the present life due to past kamma, is also enjoying the fruits of this life because the video mentions she treats everyone well. However, the Buddha also taught that we all do owe a debt of gratitude to our parents, we are all interconnected in some ways that we cannot see. Perhaps, Vajira, by her example, did repay this debt of gratitude by teaching him about kamma, because otherwise the King would have thought all the good things came from him as he was the king. This helps to dispel some of the delusion he had.

@@watsanfran Thank You 🙏
vajira's husband is ajatshatru a godly king
Everyone seems to be greedy these days😿
This is not a real story. In history King Pasenadi loves his daughter princess Vajira. King Pasenadi loves the Buddha too he would never say such things to his daughter. And princess Vajira got married with king Ajatashatru. A political marriage.
It is wrong for the creators to have Princess Vajira and her husband to hold glasses of alcohol. It almost supports the idea that holding parties in ancient India at the time of Buddha had alcohol. This is unlikely to have been the case
kshatriyas drank alcohol
It might be no alcohol but any soft drink because alcohol or hard drink is prohibited in Buddhism.
@@Caesar88888 Not all.
They might have. Even back then there were many bars that sold it
Just be positive, they might not be alcohol. They might be fruit juices.
