Looking forward to the Sea of Stars DLC to come out. Big highlight from the latest Indie World. I’ve been considering getting Chained Echoes, it seems to have very similar inspirations.
I love this video idea Mark. Sometimes I don’t really have the time to slog through a RPG for 2 years. Especially with playing the switch so sporadically. Really helpful to add to the ever-growing backlog

Incredible game, but I gave up on it after the 3rd game stopping bug. Having to look up how to get around bugs in a narrative driven game spoiled the experience.
@@videogamechangers605 what bugs did you run into? the switch port definitely has got some jank to it, but in my 75ish hours with the game i never ran into anything really game breaking aside from crashing to the home screen once or twice. annoying for sure, but it certainly didn't prevent me from playing and absolutely loving it.

A few personal faves on this list and I think it’s about time I played Disco Elysium which has been sitting in my backlog. I’d also add the Final Fantasy pixel remasters, especially 6, which even 30 years after release has continued to be ranked in the top 3 FFs in various rankings(and it’s my personal favorite, of course) They have some good QoL improvements such as if you don’t want to grind you can increase Exp and money by up to 3 times, and thus reduce or remove grinding.

Great video! Really appreciate highlighting some shorter games. I like big games, but it can be hard when you just have big release after big release to try to fit into your life.
To the Moon is a brilliant "I'm not crying, you're crying" top down walking sim. I'm not sure I'd call it a RPG though. Adding Meg's Monster to my wishlist too, that looks class and I'd not heard of it! So thank you very much 🙏
Disco Elysim IS a masterpiece indeed. It took me a lot longer than 18 hrs but this is because it completely sucked me in and I played it a second time immediately with a different skill loadout. Such a good game!
Check out monster boy and the cursed kingdom. It's an amazing metroidvania with a huge world and lots of really challenging puzzles and platforming. It can be finished in 25 hours or so but it took me 40 hours to find most of the secret upgrades and weapons. Amazing game. Also phoenotopia is like a 40 to 50 hour game to do everything. I haven't played it yet because it looks so amazing that I don't want it to be over. One last recommendation is monster sanctuary. It's a metroidvania but it's also a monster training rpg with an insanely deep battle system. I've played for about 15 hours and am nowhere even near the halfway point. If you like the idea of a full on metroidvania with gated progression and platforming to explore a map but with turn based battles tossed in then definitely check out monster sanctuary. The battle system is infinitely deeper than pokemon and the monsters have skill trees that you can customize for every single monster. And evert single level you can upgrade your skill tree to learn new moves so it doesn't get stale and it has a fun and rewarding game loop. It's very charming though.
My first playthrough of FF7 took me 70 hours as a kid 😅, but I do believe I grinded the party to lvl 99 in a way that I now know is a horrible way to do it!
The only games I'd add to this list would be Deltarune and Undertale. Two of the best RPGs ever made, in my opinion. And what's currently available for Deltarune is free on Switch!
Great list. I would suggest adding Ara Fell. I absolutely loved it.. I think it took me 21 hours, but I'm sure it can be done quicker. Thinking of quick RPGs whilst I'm making my way through P3 Reload :D
What an awesome video! thanks for all the recommendations. Some I knew, but thought where massive like Disco Elysium, Idk I wanted to play it but always thought "it's gonna take me years to finish!" but apparently not. And others like the last one, that I already have but it's just sitting on my backlog for years haha
This is possibly my favorite list Switch-Up has made. I like many genres of games but RPGs are my favorite. I've all but stopped playing them because they're so darn long! I'm in my 50s! My backlog might outlive me!

Choice format, more of this please!
Yeah man make a monthly series for this!
Great list. I would suggest adding Ara Fell. I absolutely loved it.. I think it took me 21 hours, but I'm sure it can be done quicker. Thinking of quick RPGs whilst I'm making my way through P3 Reload :D
Disco Elysium, 18 hours ? Nice video anyway ! Thank.
Yeah man you can do an 18 hour run. My first ever run was 30 hours, second 18 and current around 20. Mark
@@SwitchUpYt Yes, I imagine that it can get pretty fast when one knows his way around. That s an amazing game.
Spending hours and hours (hundreds) navigating through uncharted territories trying to save the world from some certain doom.❤❤❤
I absolutely loved sea of stars❤ looking really forward to the dlc and an absolutely lovely artstyle for me😊
Big fan of RPGs, usually the longer the better!
Great list.
Sea of Stars ~ 34h (gold star ending), Super Mario RPG ~ 35h (almost 100%), Meg's monster it looks interesting
Yeah those completionist times are always way longer. Mark ❤
HUGE West of Loathing fan...hilarious.
Time is one of the things that always push me off of playing rpg’s, thank yoguys for this.
Shot games, pick up and play and "loading" games are my cup of tea nowdays. It is what it is.
