I would say, do not go to the shower straight after your run but wait 5-10 minutes for your body to warm down a little. I like do stretching for 6minutes and then go to the shower. If you walk for 5 minutes after your run that’s great too 👌
@@aliasgharkhoyee9501I’ve tried, but the inner-temperature of the body stays warm ( if it’s an under 5 minutes shower ). Furthermore it can be bad for the muscles depending on your goals. But I’m not an expert so don’t take my advice for granted. Sorry if my English is bad 😅
sounds crazy but If its hot outside(above90°F)ill hose myself off with the garden hose before I change gets all the nasties and sweat off your gear before theyre washed and it feels great

Just finished a 15km run. Checked online, and found out you just released a video what should (or shouldn"t) I do now. Thanks. Also: Marry Christmas :)
Living in Borneo at the equator where the hardest thing to do - year round - is to cool down, this seemed a bit pointless and I turned off. But was obviously interested enough to scroll the comments to see if others felt the same. Just didn’t apply to me at all.
Started this running season at the end of January this year which is earlier than usual and I live in Canada so some of those January, February runs were cold.
I come back from my long ISH run, jump in the shower and re-fuel with a healthy wholemeal sandwich and a drink, then take a quick nap on the sofa. I'm not as young as I used to be 😮😇👍
I used to just have breakfast, shower then off to work - never did any stretching which I’m sure lead to runners knee and about 2 months off. Now I go straight into a 10min stretch routine each time, foam rolling and all 👍💕
love your video i do not do any off these its just common sence not to, i dont tell anybody about what i do or how fast i run, i run against my watch not against other runners,
I AM NOT saying the advice is not good. But I used to be a member of a successful large running club that meet at a sports club house. After every run, the routine would be shower, then into the bar for a couple of pints. Was never sure it was a good idea, but that's what happened, and still does as far as I know.
@Global Triathlon Network I frequently have a sweet bar after a long run (2hr+) to cope with carb depletion before my proper meal is rdy. Is this a bad practice?
I believe that low or non-alcoholic beer might be. Read somewhere about German non-alcoholic beer being a good post run drink. I have milk after a run and a beer abit later as the presenter suggests.
There is nothing like a cold beer after a run! I guess the only better thing is posting a photo of it as you drink it on Strava while lying down on your couch after beating your friends on a segment and waiting for them to respond after they get the notification they’re no longer the leader!!
Just don't start or end by your high intensity interval and your are fine. It depends of each person and the kind of session you have planned, but between 10 and 20 min at Z1/2 is a common thing for your HIIT session. Dylan Johnson made a video on that subject also.
I am a coach potato I’ve got to stop being one though also does walking count as exercise cuz I do that after school most of the time I think also I guess I am guilty of one of theses
With having sweet things after a run, I'm not a scientist, but I'm pretty sure your body needs insulin for protein synthesis to take place. So wouldn't it be a good idea to have something a bit sugary alongside a nutrient rich high carb and protein snack/meal?
I am confused, I always thought beer was THE perfect isotonic, rehydrating beverage. Are you telling me runners in Germany have been doing it all wrong?
It all depends.. Elite athletes often run up to 3 times a day. It's very rarely when an elite marathoner runs only one time in a day, unless they had a hard 30+k session that day. And even then some runners will go for a shorter recovery jog in the evening.
It’s actually better to have something sweet post run, as long as it’s combined with a protein source. Spiking your insulin will help get protein where it needs to go.
Yes but its better to eat like a piece of fruit before so you don't faint but it honestly depends on what type of a person. I used to do that and never had a problem but after i got older i couldnt because id feel dizzy
But after a run I always go straight to the couch to drink beer and browse social media while eating sweets and bragging about my run
You HAVE to have a beer and brag about the run. Why else did I download Strava?
Lol
You've earned the beer and bragging rights!!! Why else would someone run?
Why do these people think I run?
Me too, Wilvin! Where would we be without GTN?!?
By my count, you sat down with a total of 9 beers in that video...Merry Christmas!

agreed if I don't take the time to cool down I'm still sweating when I get out of the shower
Or take a cold shower, it's great for you!

Nothing worse than finishing the shower and you’re still sweating

Lul thanks for saving me time. I feel like they just pump out videos to pump out videos, not to help anyone with a lick of common sense.
Why would you drink beer with alcohol which will make your hard work meaningless when you can just drink water or protein shake
Good work Gazza mate
Most of if it is garbage. These running channels are jokes for the most part. A big piss up if you ask me.
Get some hot beverage instead of beer... 🤷
She must be stalking me because I haven't told anyone that I do these things.
Sorry 🤣
I love that you brought three beers to the couch to avoid trips to the fridge lol
What beer?
Also forces you to drink fast to avoid warm beers...genius.
Just finished a 15km run. Checked online, and found out you just released a video what should (or shouldn"t) I do now. Thanks.
Also: Marry Christmas :)
... so you cracked a beer and watched TH-cam 😉
Merry Christmas, everybody!
And to you too!
Thank you and merry Christmas
The first tip definitely doesn't apply in most parts of Australia - you're lucky if you're able to cool down without a cold shower after!
Number 1 was a very british problem... For me number 2 was as well...
Exactly what I thought
Living in Borneo at the equator where the hardest thing to do - year round - is to cool down, this seemed a bit pointless and I turned off. But was obviously interested enough to scroll the comments to see if others felt the same. Just didn’t apply to me at all.
Same in Texas
I smoke cannabis right before my run. Puts me in the zone.
😂 Me to
Me too 😂😂😂
Zone -1?

'Well you might wanna check strava....' hahahahaha I'm dying here 🤣 brilliant, nice video thank you
Be honest. You got caught with the beers after your run so decided to turn it into a "what not to do" video to avoid getting judged.
I love that refreshing sweet (but not too sweet) taste of a quality chocolate flavoured protein shake with milk after a run.
Me too
i always: shower, eat, sleep, wake up and drink a coffee. I love it! :)
You should never drink Heineken after your run, or at any time of the day!
False news.
@Seppe Snoeck Definitely agreed. Sewage water.
@@steeeefie541 Ironic that you're the human version of Heineken. Lame.
@@Lockhart2000 witty comeback, ad hominem👏🏼
Are you actually appealing to logical fallacy to defend how lame you are?
Does a Michelob Ultra count as a post-run rehydration beverage?
I come back from my long ISH run, jump in the shower and re-fuel with a healthy wholemeal sandwich and a drink, then take a quick nap on the sofa. I'm not as young as I used to be 😮😇👍
Always great info, especially for those getting back into it... but I'm hungry now....
Thanks for the videos. Do you guys recommend Gatorade?
2:23 that bottle opening.. nooo 😂😭
Anybody know of the brand of trousers she is wearing in this video please?
Admittedly I get directly in the shower and bring my phone with me. Reviewing data in a hot shower with a post recovery shake is my favorite.
Shower beers!!!!
Thank you 👍
I used to just have breakfast, shower then off to work - never did any stretching which I’m sure lead to runners knee and about 2 months off.

What stretches do you do
i always scoff couple of bananas after a good ol slog. then maybe a couple of poached eggs.
Walk for 30 minutes, undress myself, take a shower, drink plenty of water, take aminoacids supplement, have a massage, meditate. Dress back myself.
Great video thank you, such good energy and advice :)
Post Run beverage of choice = 40 ounces of Ice Cold Malt Liquor, specially wrapped in a brown paper bag...so thick you can spoon it up!!
Heather really had to suffer for this video…wine, beer, TV, cakes, 😂😂
Does heineken even count as beer? Hahah 😜
No. If in the UK try Brew Dog. Lovely
Life's too short to drink shitty beer. Don't do it !! Get quality stuff!!
Went to a bakery after a morning run once, ended up having WAY too much bread roll, biscuits and pastry for the day^^
Good points,
I never knew I shouldn’t eat sweets after a run. I’m actually being serious. Thank you so much! x
It is probably the only time when eating them is not really a bad thing. The video is wrong in this one.

Alcohol sloes down recovery

Eat some good carbs instead!
@@rustydagon598 What do you mean by "good carbs" ?
Watching this in my sweaty, cold running clothes while enjoying a beer.
2:05 also don't get wasted on the eve of your run. That will fuck you up well lmao
Trueee
In some experiments Beer can hydrate better than water. I'm still waiting for somebody to make a post-run beer.

Heather, those images of pastries and cookies are not helping :)
Merry Christmas.
No matter after a run, Never drink Heineken, Full Stop, it's p...
The last one is just don't be an arse.
What about beer mile?? LOL
Heather looks comfy on the couch with Heineken!
What about post-run stretches and foam roller??
Is it filming in Bath? ☺
These are the most trivial "Do Nots", lol
Haha I've been guilty of the beer with a meal after the run. Gotta remind myself to drink water first.
I don''t think it's a big deal if you don't run more than one time a week.
I always suspected a Guinness after a run was a bad thing, but I really hoped I was wrong.
Merry Christmas!
That cookie look so good 🥲
The grocery clerks probably HATED seeing me coming...I only shopped after a hot sweaty workout. Pew!
Thanks Heather, but how many sofas do you have LOL
Merry Christmas!:)
is it okay for me to run to event?
I love this channel. If there was a suck thing as a run crush, Heather would be it 😁
thank god you didn't bring up anything about having a smoke... :))
Yep my post run routine, glass of milk and a ciggie before my shower lol
Heather I’m not a wine snob but we need to upgrade your wine selection! 😝 PS...your candy selection is pretty good!
And her beer selection. Heineken? Yuck!
Pretty sure this video is just an excuse to buy beer and sweets as a business expense.
Heather drinking beer from the bottle in something amazing
If i want to start getting injuries i merely need to start drinking after good training sessions.
Everytime a crocdile i start to see injuries
Make a warm down video. And maybe a short version of warm up

But the first reason I just got home and needed at least 12mins rest while scrolling on my phone looking for information about post run
Sainsbury’s is the official supermarket of runners & gym goers! All in their sportswear putting us coach potatoes to shame 😂
Nice view of Laura Fountain
This to me seems like a beer promo😁 Heinken specifically
I think I’m in love.
The DT SWISS WHEEL👀🔥
I'm lucky I only live with my husband because I cant staaaand being in sweaty wet running or cycling clothes, I'm naked as soon as I've shut the door.
Heineken!!... good choice 😃
Lets start a GoFundMe so Heather can upgrade from her cracked iPhone 6
What is that cookie you bought, it looks delicious!!!
Ive been told that you shouldnt take a bath after a run. Is thay true?
I am a coach potato I’ve got to stop being one though also does walking count as exercise cuz I do that after school most of the time I think also I guess I am guilty of one of theses
Walking does count as exercise but it isnt as effective as running

What is that device on the handle of the buggy at 3:43?
Makes you deposit some denomination of coin to remove the buggy and to entice you to return it to the entrance to get the coin back.

Take an alcoholfree Beer ;)
A what? I know the words, but they don't make any sense.

Best advice no one will ever tell you . After running rest dont workout or run again especially if it was long run like 10k or more
This advice is about as useful as this video

MMMM Jelly beans. LOL. Agree alcohol not a good idea right after. Merry Christmas, now time to raise a glass.
Who the hell is drinking wine after a run?
Who the fu** drink a glass of red wine after running?? C'mon!
I tend to want to think in the opposite direction 6 things to do after...drink protein for recovery, eat carbs, ...

I can't say I've ever returned from a run eager to drink alcohol. Maybe I'm weird 😂
So you’re saying a recovery stout isn’t a good idea!?
I mean, it might not be the *best* idea, but allowable today at least!
