    Aftershokx are the real deal. I use them on every run. They allow me to hear traffic and other audio clues when running/biking outdoor. The safety aspect is impossible to ignore. I love them. Hate to be an 'extra' ad on your video, but I love them.

      Ha, no problem! I wouldn't have partnered with them if I wasn't enamored by the tech and how helpful it can be for runners. It's legit.

    That stressful moment when you’re running to reduce stress but your stress prevents you from running well

    Great! These are really the simple basics! After years of reading/ watching/ listening to many coaches etc. your video is actually the key of everything: basic steps! I would say it's not the top 5 recovery strategies for faster running, but it's the top 5 of proper training/ running. Thanks man!

    When I was in boot camp, first 2 weeks I found out my wife had a miscarriage the first time we went out to the running track I ran my heart out pushing myself to tears and after that I felt so much better my body was sore yes but it was like I ran out that mental pain. Now I’m coming off an acl recon and starting to get back to running.

    Last Wednesday I definitely ran way too much and way too fast for the week. I mean I handled the run great on that day but on the following days I just couldn't recover well. I was just way too mentally and physically tired to put in a good effort so I had to calm my training down and take a break. However now I feel alright and I might go to the gym and do a little mini workout just to see where I'm at.

    Good video, thanks! I struggle with making myself get enough sleep as I get older, I just don't sleep so soundly. Dark room, no screen an hour before sleep all helps.

    Good information about adaptation and recovery! The basics, but how many times do we kid ourselves ; ) Good stuff and such a chill presentation.

    These are all really good tips! I definitely agree on the importance of nutrition (and stress/sleep and everything else, really) in running/exercise and it's so easy to conduct an experiment on oneself. Runs become so much more enjoyable when your body has all the proper nutrients and it's easy to spot the difference in feel and performance between days after eating high fat processed food vs. a high nutrient food kind of day, at least in my experience. That said, I need to go grocery shopping, I actually crave fruit right now 😅🍌🍏

    What do you recommend for runners that cannot get enough or regular sleep?

      Wake up with the sun. Look at the sky first thing, get physically active then have a filling breakfast. Don’t eat too late. You’ll totally be ready for bed that night and sleep like a baby. Repeat as needed.

    • @JasonFitzgerald
      @JasonFitzgerald 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Do the best you can. There is no trick, hack, or workaround to the fact that humans need regular 7+ hours/night.

      This is a huge problem for me... I'm a lifelong insomniac who works 2 jobs, and has a bad reaction to sleeping pills. (And no reaction to melatonin. ) Ultra training is a blast on 5-6 broken hours a day. But it's either do things tired, or don't do things...

    • @willwilling4728
      @willwilling4728 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @Jason Fitzgerald that's the problem I cannot sleep 7 hours a night working around the clock and being on call 24/7? Plus being 64 years old.
      I was hoping for some suggestions. I did cut back to running 4 days a week and started cycling 2 days a week. It seems to help recovery. My legs aren't always tired and sore now.

    • @JasonFitzgerald
      @JasonFitzgerald 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@willwilling4728 What kind of suggestions are even possible in this scenario? People must sleep. Your schedule is incompatible with human needs. This is a binary problem: get enough sleep somehow or don't. There are no hacks.

    ‘Whole foods’ effectively means ‘plant based’. Which is the best way to eat for Human Great Apes Evolved to thrive best Herbivorously. I know I’ve done the research but also after 5 yrs on a low fat high carb whole food plant based diet I am fitter leaner recovery so fast knees no longer click VO2 MAX better, blood pressure mostly 112-68 up to 120-67 on a stressful day. And I am now 50. Plant based simply balances your whole body but most crucially feeds your gut Microbiome best with all those greens, which is the ultimate Avenue to top health & fitness potential along with sensible training & rest..You probably knew all that:-) just for the record.

      For the record, why did you capitalize all those random words in your comment? For the record, that's always a red flag.

      My friend do you think apes just eat whole foods like bananas? Apes eat meat and plant-based foods. Most apes eat nuts, fruits, seeds and flowers. Apes also eat meat in the form of bird's eggs, small lizards, insects and spiders.. Chimpanzees and bonobo are known to hunt and eat other mammals, including monkeys...
