It's like middle and lower middle class people buy really expensive cars and wear branded clothes to show off they have money and really rich they don't show off, but they are absolutely loaded and really humble and generous. If you migrate and live to impress, it might work against you. The average home in a good location with good schools is about 1 million and over. You need two people income of 200k to live decently, and almost 40% of your income is taxed 11% taken away for superannuation. You need 1 million dollars for retirement.

@Yakagekatha I live in one of the most expensive suburbs in Sydney. I love the lifestyle and facilities. I'm in the highest earning income bracket, but still it is really expensive. I don't know where you live. Have you ever heard of Sydney?

The most annoying thing is that you guys are painting a picture to Sri Lankan students that when they come to Australia, life is better. If the roads and there are pavements in footpaths and a good comfortable public transport Sri Lanka is so much better or at least just as good as Sydney. If you go to an organic market in Double Bay Sydney (Most exclusive suburb in Australia) and Sri Lanka pola in suburb food are the same.
Absolutely. I will Investing a few years of hard work and study is a small price to pay when considering the challenges faced by those trying to sneak into Europe by illegal ways. Once you've secured permanent residency, Australia offers a good working environments compared to many other countries where Sri Lankans often work long, grueling hours (12to16hours 6 to 7 days)

@Yakagekatha Yes. I study in 2000s when fees are around 15,000 and rent for a Melbourne city apartment about 560 for the month, and I can survive with a 50 for a week. Now, I am living in a really nice Sydney leafy beach suburb. The best thing I did was to go back to Sri Lanka after my graduation and work in Sri Lankan reputed companies built my resume with great experience.
