Oh my Weston. Thanks a lot for this. I loved Wipeout and would love for it to be brought back so the fact you’re giving us the unseen episodes and unseen Series 1 episodes that aren’t online is lovely. :) 🎉
You're very very welcome. What an absolute classic and definitely a hit for sure. This was supposed to be "Premiered". Not sure what happened to the upload, but, oh well 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
For those curious, this was based on an American show of the same name. It only lasted in syndication from September 1988 to June 1989 (though the reruns did get shown on cable for a few years afterwards), and it was hosted by Peter Tomarken.
Watching this off the back of watching the Unaired Pilot of Big Break. Thanks for uploading this! Great to see more ‘behind the scenes’ as it were like this. Interesting that the theme music and set here were already established and didn’t change from the final version (the same can’t be said for Big Break). Observations. No hi-fiving the contestants from Paul at the start, but bit more in the way of chatting with the contestants first before then getting into the gameplay. Glad they got rid of the starter question here and just did a coin toss before the show to determine who gets first pick of the grids. Longer correct answer sting too, which was shortened in the final version. Rest of the three grids gameplay, largely unchanged although they go from left to right with the contestants. This changed in the final version from right to left. Wipeout Auction again largely the same, just no graphic to show who is leading by how many grids. For Minute to Win It! (Forgot how goddamn catchy the music was for the final round by the way!), interesting that she had a free choice of selecting six answers, BEFORE the time would then start, glad that bit got dropped and the time just started after Paul explained the question to the contestant. Overall, Paul had the right energy for the show throughout and I thoroughly enjoyed this! ☺️
@spikeyroberto I thought it might appear a bit "geeky", but truth of the matter is I'm a big fan of gameshows and particularly enjoyed both Wipeout and Big Break. Wipeout here looked "ready to go" and other than a minor tweak here or there, you wouldn't have known it was a pilot, it even lasted more or less 30 minutes too 😊
@spikeyroberto I should say that I didn't work on the show or anything like that, I just know the show inside out and enjoyed watching it a lot. It's on my bucket list this year to apply to be on a gameshow, but as someone whose confidence isn't sky high, I'd be worried about looking like an idiot in front of the nation. My general knowledge is alright, but being in a TV studio I imagine is quite exciting, but very very scary!
The Wipeout theme music was composed by Dave Arch, who is today best known for being Strictly Come Dancing’s musical director, a role he took over from the late Laurie Holloway in 2006.
Did this episode air on challenge when the property was bought?. i swear i recall seeing this just due to Phillipa waistcoat. kinda hard to not forget that.
Good find. At least everything more or less is there waiting to go to the main broadcast show. Question if you will: Was there ever in your knowledge a "Pilot" of sorts for the Bob Monkhouse version or did they just caryy on from where they left off? Sorry to be a pain and ask.

4:57 Charles Babbage invented the computer at the time he did so he could eventually have the game board on Family Fortunes named after him.😁
Fantastic to see pilots, especially those unaired. Thank you!

@@Dan_Blick1986yes absolutely, nothing wrong with being geeky
I love this "Tidbit". Incredible knowledge

Oh yes! Thanks so much for this
Oh yes Weston. Thank for uploading Wipeout with Paul Daniels 🙂😁😄😃😀👍📺📺📺📺📺
You're most welcome. Looking forward to next week's 2nd pilot episode 😁
Yes i am looking forward to next week's 2nd pilot episode as well.
Paul Daniels hosts the very first episode of the quiz show wipeout from 1994.
Twas a great show 😎👍🏻
Oh, so you're telling me the correct answer sound was sped up the whole time?!
[Wipeout sound plays] 😫
😂🤣😂🤣..... The secrets out 😱😱😱

I remember this in a Roy Walker Game Show programme. I remember the W looking different!

You can see quite a few differences.
In the final she started selecting before the clock started.

4:24 The Happy Sound of a CORRECT ANSWER
6:08 The Dreaded Sound of a WIPEOUT
Do you have the unaired pilot of fun house presented by linda lusardi? 🤞👍
Any more Wipeout coming up?
Every Wednesday at 8pm GMT
Amusing that, after telling Luned that his ancestors were Welsh, Paul proceeds to mispronounce her name for the rest of the show 😂
Why does he need their marital statuses lol
One of the contestants here Philippa went on to appear on wipeout in 1994.
As would Luned, who won the highest amount on record, £1100 or thereabouts.
@@SamHodkin23 oh wow!
As well as Ron, who-despite not making it to the bonus round-won £670 in cash.
What about the Unaired Pilot 2
That'll come next week. If you are a member, you can watch it right now
I'll wait till next week
@stephen2050 Perfect. Really looking forward to you seeing it 😁
The right answer sound is a bit different
:D
Bad bidding by Ron.
I had all 8 on that second one.
